Kaizer Chiefs confirm home games across SA for new season

Kaizer Chiefs have doubled down on their commitment to taking football to the fans by continuing to host home games at various stadiums across the country in the 2025/2026 season. Last season, the Soweto giants rotated between FNB Stadium, the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, and Moses Mabhida Stadium. Now, they plan to expand this list of venues even further, according to Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung. Chiefs will once again forgo a single, consistent home base in favour of a national approach that reflects their widespread fanbase. 'We're definitely a national brand, so the country is our home,' said Motaung in an interview with iDiski Times. 'So definitely we'll be playing at FNB Stadium, but we're certainly going to be playing in Mabhida, you see us playing in the Toyota Cup there on Saturday.' Her comments highlight the club's strategic focus on national presence over regional loyalty. Chiefs' return to continental football via the CAF Confederation Cup offers even more reason to explore new certified venues outside Gauteng. 'We also have the opportunity to play elsewhere for our CAF games, in CAF certified stadiums. Certainly, the balance of travel vs having a base here in FNB will be managed,' added Motaung, acknowledging the logistical challenge but reaffirming the club's intention to maintain its reach. While some players expressed concern last season about the demands of extra travel, the club's ability to draw significant support wherever they played made a lasting impression. However, Chiefs' inconsistent league form suggests that balancing travel with high-level performance remains a key objective this season. Motaung confirmed that while FNB will still serve as a primary home ground, other venues will play crucial roles. Kaizer Chiefs are currently preparing for their next challenge, the Toyota Cup clash against Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium this Saturday. Reinforcing their intent to keep reaching fans across all corners of South Africa. Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. 'Emphatic' or just enough? Either way Kaizer Chiefs win in Europe could lead the way in SA

Naledi Hlongwane scored the winning goal in Kaizer Chiefs' 1-0 pre-season victory over PEC Zwolle — their first win in The Netherlands after three straight defeats. Photo: Backpagepix Image: Backpagepix The Kaizer Chiefs media department may have gone a little overboard in their description of Amakhosi's 1-0 victory over PEC Zwolle on Tuesday night. 'Emphatic win for Chiefs in Holland,' read the headline on the club's match report. Well, perhaps that's what happens when you snap a three-match losing streak — any win feels euphoric. But while the victory, courtesy of a second-half goal by substitute Naledi Hlongwane, was deserved, it was anything but emphatic. Yes, Chiefs showed marked improvement from their previous outings. They were confident in possession, moved the ball forward with purpose, and varied their attacking play — mixing long-range shots with attempts to penetrate through Zwolle's defence. Tuesday's result offered much-needed relief for a team struggling for form. Before that match, Amakhosi had lost all three of their earlier encounters on the Dutch pre-season tour — a 4-0 drubbing by FC Utrecht, a narrow 1-0 loss to NEC Nijmegen, and a 2-1 defeat to SBV Vitesse. Their final match of the five-game tour took place on Wednesday night against FC Twente. The win over Zwolle came like rain in the desert for a side in desperate need of momentum as they prepare for the 2025/26 season. Chiefs have made several new signings in a bid to arrest their decline after two consecutive seasons without a top-eight finish. The decisive goal came after Zwolle's goalkeeper failed to hold on to a shot from Mduduzi Shabalala. Hlongwane — who had come on for the injured Flavio Silva — was quickest to react, pouncing on the loose ball and burying it. His celebration was one of pure joy, shared with team-mates. It was a goal straight out of the Kaizer Chiefs Academy — both Shabalala and Hlongwane having risen through the ranks together since under-15 level. 'We have a great understanding, as we basically grew up together,' Hlongwane said. 'I know exactly what run to make, depending on the situation, and 'Shabba' knows what I will do. 'This time he decided to shoot. As a striker, you might only get one chance during a match — and that's when you have to be ready. "So, I ran towards the goalkeeper, hoping for a rebound. And that's exactly what happened. Scoring the goal was a fantastic feeling!' Head coach Nasreddine Nabi continued to rotate his squad throughout the match, finishing with Aiden McCarthy as the only player to have completed the full 90 minutes. The Tunisian tactician has used the tour to assess different players and build combinations as part of a longer-term process. That process is what Angolan defender and new captain Miguel Inacio believes will lay the foundation for a successful season — one that includes league play, domestic cups and participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. 'The victory was great. However, in pre-season, the process comes first — it's not so much about winning,' Inacio said. 'In that process, you build the Kaizer Chiefs idea. We've seen our performances improve with each match. "Right now, we're laying the foundation that's needed to do well when the season begins. Pre-season is about incorporating the coach's ideas, integrating new players, and establishing tactical understanding. "Last season, we didn't get that combination right, even though the process was sound. This time, all those elements came together, and that's what made for a great performance — and yes, even an emphatic win.'

Kaizer Chiefs lose business relationship with PSL club

You could say that Kaizer Chiefs have lost a reliable recruitment relationship following the abrupt sale of SuperSport United to the newly formed Siwelele FC. The now-defunct SuperSport United had become a trusted talent pipeline for Kaizer Chiefs, supplying three signings in just two years. While it was a free transfer, the relationship came to life in 2023 with the arrival of Botswana international Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who joined Amakhosi that year. The centre-back quickly established himself as a mainstay in Amakhosi's defence before he was sold to Al-Ittihad in Libya last term. Kaizer Chiefs awaiting multi-million bank notification this week Kaizer Chiefs unveil the signing of Siphesihle Ndlovu from SuperSport United. Image: kcofficial/Instagram In January 2025, the two clubs agreed on the sale of striker Tashreeq Morris, who signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Soweto giants. Known for his physical style and attacking instincts, Morris was brought in to add experience and presence to the frontline. Transfer deals score: Orlando Pirates 11-6 Kaizer Chiefs Most recently, midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu became the third player to switch from SuperSport to Kaizer Chiefs, signing a three-year deal. His arrival was seen as a major boost to the club's midfield options ahead of a demanding season that will include the CAF Confederation Cup. However, following the club's acquisition and relocation, Supersport United is now under new ownership as Siwelele FC, leaving the relationship with Kaizer Chiefs uncertain and possibly lost. Kaizer Chiefs finally enter the women's football arena

Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung JESSICA Motaung, Chiefs' Commercial and Marketing Director, played a pivotal role in establishing the partnership with Springs Home Sweepers FC. | BackpagePix Kaizer Chiefs have officially embarked on their journey into the women's game through a strategic partnership with Springs Home Sweepers FC, a Kwa-Thema club, playing in the Sasol League, South Africa's second-tier women's football division. This landmark development formalises the growing relationship between the two clubs and signifies a significant investment in the empowerment and development of women in sport. The storied AmaKhosi, also known as the Phefeni Glamour Boys, qualified for the Confederation Cup competition after clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup earlier this year. Under the regulations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), clubs must have a women's team or a formal partnership with one to participate in inter-club competitions. This new alliance with Springs Home Sweepers, owned by former Chiefs player and ex-Banyana Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza, propels the Chiefs' commitment toward women's football to new heights. For Chiefs, collaboration will be the cornerstone of their relationship. The two clubs have worked closely to uplift and enhance the women's football landscape in South Africa through technical development, sharing resources, and paving pathways for up-and-coming female players. Kaizer Motaung, executive chairman of AmaKhosi, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. 'I am excited to see this partnership coming to fruition. This collaboration is a significant milestone for our club as we continue to invest in the development of women's football in South Africa. "We believe in empowering women in sport and providing opportunities for them to shine. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to growing the beautiful game and fostering a more inclusive sporting environment.' Additionally, Jessica Motaung, Chiefs' Commercial and Marketing Director, played a pivotal role in establishing this partnership. "We are thrilled to formalise this relationship with Home Sweepers," she said. "This partnership is about more than just football; it's about creating a sustainable ecosystem for women's football in South Africa. Aligning women's clubs with professional structures like Chiefs is vital for the growth and professionalism of the women's game." Mkhonza, who has a long-standing commitment to women's football, emphasized that the involvement of a club of Chiefs' stature heralds a new era for the women's game. 'Their involvement signals real intent and belief in the women's game. This is also a great opportunity to grow our footprint in our area and continue to build a platform for young female talent to thrive,' he stated. Under the new partnership, Home Sweepers played their first match against Wits University this past weekend, signalling the dawn of a new chapter in their journey. The excitement continues with their next fixture set for a home game against Blue Birds Football Academy on Sunday at the Kwa-Thema Stadium, promising another opportunity for these talented women to shine.
