Marquee group of Canadians headlines home contingent at RBC Canadian Open

Marquee group of Canadians headlines home contingent at RBC Canadian Open It's a special week for Canadians. The NHL's Stanley Cup Final begin Wednesday night, with the Edmonton Oilers hoping to beat the Florida Panthers and take Lord Stanley's Cup north of the border for the first time in 32 years. Of course, the start of the Cup Final also means it's a special week for Canadian golfers and golf fans as the PGA Tour stops in Ontario for the 2025 RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto, a golf course hosting the tournament for the first time. There are 24 Canadian golfers set to play in their national open, including PGA Tour stalwarts Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Nick Taylor. Taylor, who finished fourth at the Memorial last week, famously sunk a 72-foot eagle putt on the 18th green at Oakdale to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open in a marathon playoff over Tommy Fleetwood. "I actually drove in with my wife, and we saw the one photo that's the silhouette of that [putt in 2023]," Taylor said in a press conference Wednesday. "In that moment, I always remember, when I see my face, it's when I found Dave [Markle] and just was like 'holy-you-know-what' in the moment. It's a cool thing to see it, and it only is good memories. It's pretty fun to see it around here the whole week." Adam Hadwin — who was hilariously tackled by a security guard when he ran onto the green to celebrate with Taylor after he made said putt in 2023 — will also tee it up this week. The Canadian contingent of Pendrith, Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes will play together for the first two rounds. The group tees off at 7:29 a.m. ET Thursday. "It's going to be really fun," Pendrith said. "We were all at the same event yesterday when the tee times came out and there was a group chat. We were all fired up. I don't think I've played with Mackenzie on the PGA Tour, not that I can remember, so that'll be fun. And Nick, I mean, legend of the tournament in Canada, so that'll be really fun. There will be a lot of people out there." World No. 21 Conners, who's the highest-rated Canadian in the Official World Golf Rankings, will not be joining in on the fun with his countrymen. "I spend enough time playing with those guys, I'll be okay," Conners said. "I got paired with Taylor [Pendrith] last week at the Memorial, which was a lot of fun. I've got a great pairing. I know those three guys will have a lot of fun together. Regardless who I'm playing with, I'll be feeling the love from the Canadian fans, and it's going to be a fun week. Conners is set to tee off at 12:55 p.m. ET with Shane Lowry and defending RBC Canadian Open champion, Robert MacIntyre. Canadian golf legend Mike Weir is also in the field this week, playing in his 32nd Canadian Open. "Mike, he was an icon in Canada," Conners said. "He was an inspiration to me when I was growing up and an aspiring junior golfer. He's someone that I've always had my eye on. The success he was able to have really motivated and inspired me to work hard and try and get to the top level of professional golf someday." Weir, the 2003 Masters Champion, plays with fellow Canadian Ben Silverman and Chan Kim of the U.S. That group tees off at 7:07 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Walton Goggins's Wife Nadia Conners Comments on His Relationship With Aimee Lou Wood

On season 3 of The White Lotus, Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood played a couple with an age-gap relationship who also dealt with a host of other romantic issues. Unsurprisingly, for the HBO hit, their pairing ended tragically. On set, they seemed to have had a friendly relationship, but some eagle-eyed fans noted they no longer followed one another on social media after the season's premiere. Rumors swirled that the actors had some sort of falling out. Goggins is married to director Nadia Conners and in an interview with HELLO! this week, Conners talked about the persistent interest in what might have gone on behind the camera. 'It's odd to see it, but it's an indication of how much people were invested in the fictional characters. I take it as a sign that he's become quite popular,' she said. Conners explained how her 2024 film The Uninvited, which starred Goggins, was sometimes interpreted as autobiographical, giving her perspective on how fans can project. As the character Sammy, Goggins is a drug addict and unsupportive partner. Conners says that Sammy and Goggins have nothing in common. 'I wrote it about a marriage, but not my marriage, which concerned him,' she shared. 'He was like, 'But I'm not this guy.' It was really important for him to say that he was not this guy. I said, 'I know, but you're a great actor, so you can pretend.'' She also talked about motherhood. Goggins and Conners share one child, their 14-year-old Augustus. After he was born, Conners dealt with post-partum depression. 'It's still a taboo subject, and the truth is, I did find it hard. I had post-partum, my husband was working long hours and I volunteered to look after our child without us realising what the long-term effects on me would be,' she said. 'Los Angeles is very spread out and you spend a lot of time in your car, so it's easy to spend days at home alone with your child. I'm half-Egyptian and you don't see that there. The mothers are never alone; there are always aunts and uncles, grandparents and cousins around to help and support. We were never meant to do it alone.'

Create Account Canada's top-ranked golfer opened his PGA Championship at Quail Hollow with a two-over par 73 and the normally stoic Conners was visibly unhappy with his opening round. 'I'm really disappointed with the score. I felt like I hit the ball fine,' he said after the round. 'I gave myself some looks, or got myself in decent positions, just scored the ball horrendously.' Horrendous is a word that could be easily thrown around for Conners' favourite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, after Wednesday's 6-1 humiliation has them facing elimination on Friday night in Florida versus the Panthers. Conners seemed even less interested in re-hashing the Leafs' Game 5 embarrassment than discussing his own problems. 'I don't really want to talk about the Leafs last night,' he said. 'Hopefully they can regroup, and I can regroup, and we can both play well on the weekend.' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. As for the season's second major in Charlotte, Conners will need to get things going on the greens where he missed numerous putts on Thursday, including a three-foot bogey putt on the par-3 17th where he made double bogey, and a round-closing nine-foot birdie miss at the par-4 ninth hole. 'Anytime I had a decent look for birdie I wasn't able to knock it in, and I had some sloppy bogeys throughout the round,' he said. 'I definitely felt like the putter let me down and I couldn't get any momentum going with that.' Read More

Roseanne Barr Had Surprise Reaction to ‘The Conners' Finale

Roseanne Barr had no idea The Conners ended its run on ABC, her son has revealed. The spinoff sitcom wrapped its seventh and final season on April 23, seven years after Barr parted ways from the original Roseanne series amid a racist tweet scandal. Barr's son, Jake Pentland, told TMZ that his mom didn't know The Conners ended because she never paid attention to the show. He also clarified that while Barr and the rest of their family never watched an episode of the spinoff, they were happy to learn that the crew members were able to continue to work for years despite Barr's exit. Pentland had a slightly shadier take when talking to Us Weekly. When asked about the end of The Conners, he told the outlet, 'We don't care about cheap knockoffs. We support the real brands. We only pay attention to things that matter to the American people.' Barr's character, Roseanne Conner, was killed off of the Roseanne series in 2018, and the spinoff launched later that year. The Conners series finale addressed the character's death heavily, with one scene that featured the entire cast at Roseanne's gravesite saying their goodbyes. No flashback footage of Barr was shown at all as the show ended its run. In an interview with The New York Post, producer Bruce Rasmussen credited Barr with 'graciously' stepping away from the series she helped create, helping to save hundreds of jobs by allowing The Conners spinoff to be greenlit. Rasmussen noted that he had not talked to Barr since 2018. Barr has been living in Texas and co-hosts a podcast with her son. Pentland hinted that his mom could make a return to acting at some point. He told Us Weekly that Barr has been back to writing scripts. 'You might just see her on TV again soon,' he said. 'You never know.''
