Juventus 'eye Premier League boss' to be next manager after missing out on Conte
Juventus are considering another managerial change and - after being turned down by Antonio Conte - are looking at Fulham boss Marco Silva as he continues to impress Juventus are ready to go after Fulham boss Marco Silva as they continue their search for a new manager following a rejection from Antonio Conte. The Italian giants are no longer the force they once were and are scouring the market for a new manager. They are open to replacing Igor Tudor - who they hired as Thiago Motta's successor in March. Tudor secured Champions League football, but is not necessarily seen as their long-term fit. Juventus have already been snubbed by former boss Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini, who has just announced he will leave Atalanta after a successful period. As a result their attention has turned to the west London outfit. Since being appointed Silva has led Fulham to the Championship title and then consolidated the Cottagers as a Premier League outfit. He's secured comfortable mid-table finishes as his stock continues to rise. Sky Sports in Italy report that Juventus have had initial contact with Silva's camp and that their incoming general director Damien Comolli is an admirer of the Portuguese boss, who is yet to take charge of an elite European club. Silva's contract expires next summer and he has impressed in a four-year tenure in the capital as he's continually been linked with vacancies elsewhere. However he did claim that he sees himself as Fulham's manager next season. On the final day he said: "I am under contract with the club and of course I've been in planning with the board (for) next season. Everything on track and the plan is there. We have the next two months to prepare for the season as best we can. If I'm under contract with the club and if I'm planning with the club the next season, of course I expect to be here." Silva has previously resisted the temptation to head to Saudi Arabia, where there is serious interest in him. Al-Hilal previously tabled a mega £40million two-year deal, but he chose to remain at Craven Cottage. Juventus have been unable to tempt Conte back to the club. Their dominance of Italian football began when Conte was in charge but he's since moved on and excelled elsewhere. He's just claimed the Serie A title with Napoli and looks as if he'll remain despite talk of a sudden exit. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Antonio Conte tells Napoli to sign £58m Man Utd and Arsenal transfer target
Antonio Conte has told Napoli to sign one of the most coveted players in Europe after committing his future to the club. The former Chelsea manager has been linked with a move away from Naples despite winning the Serie A title with the Italian club this season. Juventus held talks with Conte about a move to Turin but 55-year-old has snubbed interest from the Italian giants to extend his stay at Napoli. Having shown loyalty to Napoli, Conte now expects significant support in the transfer market in return, with the summer window opening for 10 days on June 1 ahead of the Club World Cup. Conte wants a new striker to arrived in Naples despite the presence of prolific forward Romelu Lukaku and has told his bosses to beat Manchester United and Arsenal to a summer deal for Viktor Gyokeres. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. According to the Daily Mirror, Conte is a huge admirer of Gyokeres and is putting pressure on the Napoli hierarchy to sign him from Sporting Lisbon. Gyokeres has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past two seasons, scoring a staggering 97 goals in 104 appearances for the Portuguese champions. Manchester United have long been linked with the 26-year-old, who thrived under Ruben Amorim before the manager left Sporting for Old Trafford. Gyokeres was also believed to be open to joining the Red Devils earlier in the year but may have changed his mind following United's embarrassing form. Manchester United finished just 15th in the Premier League and missed out on European football altogether after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final. Arsenal have also identified Gyokeres as a top target as they look to sign a new striker for Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have reportedly approached Sporting Lisbon with a proposal worth £58m and are ready to make Gyokeres one of the highest-paid players at the Emirates Stadium. But Arsenal could snub Gyokeres in favour of a move for Benjamin Sesko, the RB Leipzig forward who could cost almost £100m. Chelsea were also linked with a move for Gyokeres but are no longer in the running after they won the £30m race to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Despite the substantial interest in Gyokeres, a family member recently suggested he could in fact snub a summer transfer and stay at Sporting Lisbon for at least one more season. 'I'm very happy, it's fantastic,' his uncle Chris told Portuguese outlet Record during Sporting's title celebrations. 'We were here last year, it's the same spirit. More Trending 'It's the same people, it's the same atmosphere. Absolutely fantastic! I'm speechless!' Asked whether Gyokeres could stay at Sporting Lisbon for another season, he added: 'Yesterday at dinner we decided that he has to stay. 'Yes, we think so. We hope so, because look… We love it, it's incredible, the country, the people and Sporting. And the Lions. We love it!' Gyokeres played for EFL clubs Coventry City, Swansea City and West Brom before moving to Sporting Lisbon in 2023. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Napoli close in on De Bruyne as Conte decides to stay with Serie A champions
Asked by reporters late on Thursday night, Napoli's sporting director Giovanni Manna said that De Bruyne was "pretty close" to joining Romelu Lukaku, Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour in moving to Italy from the Premier League. Earlier this month De Bruyne ended a 10-year spell at Manchester City, where he won six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League. De Bruyne, 33, will have Conte as his coach after he and Napoli ended weeks of speculation by confirming that he would stay to defend the Scudetto. Conte had been tipped for a return to Juventus, where he spent the bulk of his trophy-laden playing career and won three league titles as a coach, after publicly bemoaning the running of the club by film mogul owner Aurelio De Laurentiis. "At the end of every season coach and club always get together to assess the past season, to see if there is a shared vision and if there is still desire to continue towards certain goals," Conte told Sky Sport. "We have a contract and seeing as we have a shared vision, we don't have anything else to add. We're moving forward because we're serious people." Conte, who has a contract until 2027, has revolutionised Napoli since taking charge of a club still reeling from a disastrous defence of the 2023 league title which ended with a 10th-placed finish. The 55-year-old has got the best out of Lukaku and in particular McTominay who took to Napoli and Naples like a duck to water after arriving from Manchester United.

Napoli close in on De Bruyne as Conte decides to stay with Serie A champions
Napoli are close to signing Kevin De Bruyne as a free agent as the Serie A champions also managed to keep hold of their title-winning coach Antonio Conte. Serie A coaching carousel at full speed with Inzaghi, Gasperini and Tudor all up for discussion
ROME (AP) — Massimiliano Allegri is headed back to AC Milan. Gian Piero Gasperini could leave Atalanta for Roma. Maurizio Sarri might be rehired by Lazio. Juventus, meanwhile, needs an entirely new plan after Antonio Conte decided to stay at Serie A champion Napoli. All 10 of the top 10 finishers in Serie A are either looking for a new coach or have had to work hard to convince their current manager to stay. Here's where the top 10 teams stand: Napoli (1st place) Conte appeared interested in a return to Juventus but announced late Thursday following a meeting with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he would stay in place. Conte still has two years remaining on his contract at Napoli, which will now include a salary increase. It's an important development for Napoli, which saw Luciano Spalletti leave the club after he coached the Partenopei to the title two years ago. Conte may have been swayed by Napoli's intent on signing Kevin De Bruyne, with Jonathan David also high on the club's wish list. Inter Milan (2nd) With Inter set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal is reportedly trying to lure Simone Inzaghi with an offer of more than 20 million euros ($23 million) per season. 'Fortunately, my club knows me well,' Inzaghi said on Monday. 'Every year, there are offers from Italy and abroad, from Saudi Arabia, but I think it would be crazy to think about that now.' The Italian coach has been at Inter since 2021 and has one more year left on his contract. Atalanta (3rd) Gasperini appears to have had enough after nine seasons at Atalanta that included a Europa League triumph, six top-four finishes in Serie A, and a Champions League quarterfinal. Gasperini's talks with Roma's American ownership are reportedly moving along. If Gasperini does indeed leave, Atalanta could hire former Juventus coach Thiago Motta or former Milan coach Stefano Pioli. Juventus (4th) Juventus' plans are perhaps the most unclear of any of the top teams, with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli reportedly set to be replaced and Conte no longer on the market. For now, Igor Tudor is still in charge despite voicing his displeasure with his status after guiding Juventus to the final Champions League place. Tudor is open to coaching Juventus at the Club World Cup, his agent said Monday, a day after the Croatian indicated he might not be. Roma (5th) With Claudio Ranieri heading into retirement, Gasperini appears to be Roma's choice for a replacement. Whoever is hired will become Roma's fourth coach in the 1 ½ years since Jose Mourinho was fired, following Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Juric and Ranieri. Gasperini's only experience coaching a big Italian club came when he lasted just five winless matches at Inter Milan in 2011. Fiorentina (6th) Raffaele Palladino has reportedly resigned at Fiorentina after only one year in charge, although the move has not been announced yet. Palladino coached Fiorentina to a Conference League spot and it was regarded as a successful season, so his resignation caught club management off guard. Lazio (7th) Marco Baroni is on his way out at Lazio after failing to secure the club a spot in Europe. The Roman team appears interested in rehiring Sarri, who already coached Lazio from 2021-2024. AC Milan (8th) Allegri was hired on Friday, a day after Sergio Conceicao was fired following Milan's failure to qualify for Europe. Allegri coached Milan to the Serie A title in 2011. Milan began the season as a potential title contender but ended up 19 points behind Napoli. Bologna (9th) Vincenzo Italiano's contract was extended by a year through 2027 after he led the squad to the Italian Cup title — Bologna's first major trophy in 51 years — which qualified the team for the Europa League. Milan reportedly wanted to hire Italiano but Bologna gave him a salary increase to 3 million euros ($3.4 million) per season, plus bonuses, the Gazzetta dello Sport reported. Como (10th) ___
