King Charles' 'hunky' aide marries again in intimate ceremony
The King's aide found love again after splitting with his first wife Caroline. King Charles' kilt-wearing aide Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson has tied the knot again in an intimate ceremony. Jonny has become known as the 'hunky' equerry to royal fans after being spotted several times while on duty by the sides of King and Queen Camilla in his trademark kilt. And now, according to reports, Jonny has married for the second time, just months after getting engaged to PR executive, Olivia Lewis. Jonny, who is from the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, started dating Olivia after he split from his first wife several years ago, writes The Mirror. The Mail On Sunday report that the couple got hitched over a week ago in an 'elegant' and 'low-key' ceremony at St Mary's Church in Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, which was followed by a lunch hosted by the bride's parents. However, it seems it was shortly back to work after the big day as just two days later, the equerry was spotted in Canada with the King and Queen during their travels across the Atlantic. According to reports, the equerry found love with Olivia last year after being together for a year, with the pair being described as "well matched and very happy" at the time. Their engagement was later announced in The Times, with the notice saying: "The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London." The lovely news comes just months after he won a promotion to become Charles' 'super equerry'. Lt Col Thompson is now in a new role, which will see him remaining to work with the King and Queen and be in charge of the monarch's private affairs, however, this promotion means that, unfortunately for fans, he won't be spotted much with the royals in public. Equerries are drawn from the armed forces and are required to assist the royals both inside their residences and when out and about on public engagements. This means he has been at the King's side ever since his reign began and played a prominent role at the late Queen's funeral, the Coronation and also won over a new set of fans across the English Channel when he accompanied Charles and Camilla on their trip to France in 2023. Jonny has also been spotted sitting behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at a service to mark the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year. Also, he welcomed former Prime Minster Rishi Sunak as he visited Buckingham Palace to see the King. Fans have previously gushed over Jonny after he was spotted out with the King. One fan previously took to social media and wrote: "Major Jonny Thompson is a tremendous hunk!" While another one said: "I think I'm getting a wee crush on King Charles's new royal equerry." Investment in ESG is irresponsible
It is saddening to note that the Coronation Fund Managers Stewardship Activities Report (Business Report, May 29) uncritically embraces the false globalist ideology of ESG (environmental, social, governance). Proudly, the Coronation Fund Managers declare that they 'assess and advocate for improvements in their climate change strategies.' Clearly, despite Coronation's research capacity, they have wittingly or unwittingly allowed themselves to be shepherded by the controlled sirens of pliant science and the mass media in believing that human activity can influence climate change. Uncorrupted science and history have proved that warming periods occurred in millennia before fossil fuels were being widely used as they are today. Uncorrupted science has also shown that temperature changes occur as a result of the inconsistency of the Earth's elliptical path around the sun and the slight variations that occur in the Earth's tilt. So, ignoring true science and history is inexcusable. But what is worse is the agenda of the climate change globalists. It requires investing in the hugely expensive green deal – lithium-powered vehicles, wind turbines and solar panels. It ignores the vast environmental damage the extraction of lithium causes and the unreliability of wind turbines, with their terrible toll on bird life. By taking punitive action against what they condemn as carbon polluters like Sasol, the ESG disciples push up the cost of living and exacerbate impoverishment. Of course, if they studied the science and history of carbon dioxide, they would note that although it comprises less than one percent of the atmosphere, it is vitally important for plant and vegetation growth. The section of the Stewardship Report that reveals double standards is Coronation's focus on the potential oil and gas bonanza off the Namibian coast. Despite their green commitment, the temptation of lucrative investment in fossil fuel exploitation is enticing. Although the Stewardship Report does not address the social aspect of ESG, it is important to note that it relates to DEI – diversity, equity, and inclusion. One wonders how that aligns with Coronation's commitment to 'responsible investment,' especially when it is evident that the principle of merit is overlooked in the implementation of DEI policy. Given the Trump Administration's recognition of the globalists' green deal for the scam it is, in keeping with their commitment to responsible investment, Coronation's Fund Managers ought to be ditching ESG and focusing on the massive fossil fuel exploitation that is about to take off in the US. Investment in ESG is irresponsible. DR Duncan Du Bois Durban

Official gifts to royal family include Rolls-Royce from King of Bahrain
A Rolls-Royce, a Blue Peter badge and a feather crown were among the official gifts given to the King during the first year of his reign. Buckingham Palace has released records listing the official gifts received by members of the royal family from 2020 to 2023. The lists outline the official gifts presented to Queen Elizabeth II, the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent. The gifts – which range from a set of toiletries, to bottles of alcohol and pairs of cufflinks – came from heads of state, their patronages and other organisations with which they have a relationship, plus also when out at official engagements. In May 2023, the King received a Coronation gift in the form of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II motor car from the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Also in May, Charles received a feather crown, two beaded chest pieces and two carved staffs from Amazonian Indigenous leaders Uyunkar Domingo Peas Nampichkai and Atossa Soltani. A month earlier, the King received two gold Blue Peter badges, one each for himself and Camilla, from Blue Peter presenters during a 'Pre-Eurovision' visit to Liverpool. As a Coronation gift, the then-president of the United States, Joe Biden, and then-first lady, Dr Jill Biden, gave Charles a leather folder containing printed letters between Queen Elizabeth II and President Eisenhower inviting him to the United Kingdom, with a photograph of the visit. In 2023, Charles also received a tea set from Smythson of Bond Street and a cutlery set from the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Teodoro Lopez Locsin Jr. Meanwhile, in 2021 the late Queen received a set of gifts connected to one of the nation's favourite television programmes. During a visit to the Coronation Street set in Greater Manchester, the Queen received a cobble from the original set in a presentation case, two gin glasses with Manchester skyline silhouette design and a selection of themed gifts including a book entitled 60 Years Of Coronation Street and a bottle of Coronation Street gin. She also received gifts from President Biden and the First Lady – an engraved specially commissioned Tiffany sterling silver box and a floral brooch – during tea at Windsor Castle. In 2022, the year of her Platinum Jubilee, the Queen received a Cedar of Lebanon tree from Pope Francis as part of The Queen's Green Canopy initiative. Back in 2020, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge each received a toiletries set from the president of Ireland Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina Higgins during an official visit to the Republic of Ireland. During that trip, they also each received GAA club jerseys as well as a bottle of whiskey and two whiskey tumblers. In 2022, the couple, by now known as the Prince and Princess of Wales, received snorkelling gear during a royal tour of the Caribbean. They each received a snorkel set, a wetsuit, a pair of diving fins and a swimming cap. William and Kate were accused of harking back to colonial days during the visit to Jamaica after the pair shook hands with crowds behind a wire mesh fence and rode in the back of a Land Rover, just like the Queen did 60 years ago. Demonstrators accused them of benefiting from the 'blood, tears and sweat' of slaves, while in the Bahamas they were urged to acknowledge the British economy was 'built on the backs' of past Bahamians and to pay reparations. Meanwhile, William and Kate's children also received gifts with a record of a soft toy camel received by William in Dubai in 2022 on behalf of Prince Louis. Official gifts can be worn and used, but are not considered the royals' personal property. The royals do not pay tax on them. They can eat any food they are given and perishable official gifts with a value less than £150 can be given to charity or staff. Gifts cannot be sold or exchanged and eventually become part of the Royal Collection, which is held in trust for successors and the nation. The rules on official presents were tightened following the Peat Inquiry in 2003 into the sale of royal gifts and the running of St James's Palace. Charles' then-most trusted aide, his former valet Michael Fawcett, faced allegations of selling unwanted royal gifts and pocketing a percentage of the proceeds, but was cleared by an internal inquiry of any financial misconduct. The Peat Inquiry, headed by Charles's then-private secretary Sir Michael Peat, found Mr Fawcett did 'infringe internal rules relating to gifts from suppliers', but could not be severely criticised because the rules were not enforced and he made no secret of such gifts. Yet the report painted a picture of Mr Fawcett as an alleged bully who enjoyed lavish perks and privileges and accepted valuable gifts from outsiders.
