Corrie legend floors fans as they realise he starred in Harry Potter
Like many of the soap stars, Corrie's Tony Maudsley has been on our screens for decades, however his appearance in Harry Potter is what's leaving viewers shocked. Before he was digging graves in Weatherfield, Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley made a memorable appearance in the Harry Potter universe - as a half-giant. The actor debuted as George Shuttleworth in September 2020, arriving on the ITV soap as the offspring of the deceased undertaker Archie Shuttleworth (Roy Hudd). But long before he was burying Corrie legends, he had a buried cameo of his own in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - which was released 17 years ago today, July 12, 2007. In the wizarding world, Tony portrayed Grawp the gentle half-brother of beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid, played by the late Robbie Coltrane. Grawp, who stood at around 16 feet tall in the books, was brought to life through a mix of CGI and motion capture, with Tony providing the on-set performance that helped animate the character. In the film, Grawp's kind-hearted nature played a pivotal role in the downfall of Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), the cruel Ministry official who took over as Hogwarts Headmistress. After she threatened Harry with the Cruciatus Curse, Hermione lured her into the Forbidden Forest, where Grawp handed her over to an angry herd of centaurs. Dolores, held a deep-seated bias against "half-breeds" and seized control as Headmistress after displacing Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) She also put Hagrid on probation, prompting him to implore Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) to look after his little brother should anything happen to him. As Umbridge was about to resort to the Cruciatus curse on Harry, Hermione agreed to reveal Dumbledore's "secret weapon." Speaking about the role, Tony told Female First: 'I was weighed down with these huge monster feet that were so heavy, that I could never get into the canteen and back in time.' Tony's career also includes a fan-favourite stint in Benidorm as hairdresser Kenneth, making him a familiar face across British telly. And don't expect his Corrie character to disappear anytime soon either. He also appeared on The Big Soap Quiz Coronation Street v Emmerdale last year, Tony joked that he's got job security in the bag. When asked how George was getting on in Weatherfield, he said: 'Well, business is booming as always in Weatherfield. The best thing about playing George is, they can't kill me off because there's no one to bury me! So yeah, I'm staying put, me!' On the quiz show, other Corrie stars Channique Sterling-Brown and Jack P Shepherd appeared, with Stephen Mulhern hosting the battle of the soaps. From magical forests to funeral homes, Tony Maudsley's career has been anything but ordinary, and that's exactly why fans love him.

Ryan Thomas' future on Coronation Street 'exposed' as Jason returns
Ryan Thomas is back in Coronation Street tonight as Jason Grimshaw, but why did he leave in the first place and why is he back on the ITV soap? Ryan Thomas is back on the Coronation Street cobbles - nine years after Jason Grimshaw left for Thailand. The Corrie legend is back tonight, reprising his role as Jason after nearly a decade. Ryan is back on the Cobbles amid a huge exit storyline for his mum Eileen Grimshaw, as actress Sue Cleaver quits her role on the soap after decades playing the iconic character. He returns tonight - but for a very specific reason. "He's struggling for money, his girlfriend left him, and he needs his mum. He says he's come back for Eileen, but he really needs a cuddle and his safety net," he tells us of his character's decision to come back. Ryan admitted he felt nervous about his return and it was a "shock to the system" being back. He said: "I couldn't sleep the night before. Even though I'd been there half my life, I felt like the new kid at school. It took me half a day to get rid of the nerves. It was a bit of a shock to the system at first. I even went on YouTube to rewatch old scenes and got nervous. "He's embraced the Thai way of life. I wanted to come back in the builder's outfit, but it made sense that he's in a different phase of his life now. He is all linen trousers and bracelets and beads. It gives you a feel of this older Jason whose life is away from the Cobbles." Fans will be no doubt hoping that Jason might be making a permanent return to the show - but sadly, it has been confirmed his return will just be a brief stint to help Coronation Street fans say goodbye to Eileen. "It was a mix of nostalgia and gratitude for what the show has done for me. When they told me Eileen was leaving, it felt right to be a part of that storyline for her and revisit where it all started," he said. Ryan says he has "no regrets" about coming back and admits it was "real fun" stepping into the character once again. "I have no regrets. It's been the perfect storyline and a real memory I can cherish. It felt like the old days, we've all been in the canteen, having lunch together and I had real fun," he said of his return. The specifics of Jason's return are being kept under wraps - and how long he stays. He had originally left all the way back in 2016. At the time, he called his decision a big risk. "It's a risk to leave a show like Coronation Street. I was in a bubble for 16 years. I love the place, it feels like home and I miss people there. But I really enjoy my time out of Corrie, getting to do new things. There's a time to spread your wings and I felt like that was the time for me. I was ready," he told The Mirror about his decision to leave.

Announcing the collection with the seductive snaps, Helen posted to her 1.1 million Instagram followers: "Super excited to work alongside @nikkiintimates on my very own collection — Summer Haze — filled with the dreamiest pastels and romantic silhouettes." The reality star showed off her figure in several different racy sets, including a daring black floral number and a pretty pink floral set as she posed in front of a grand fireplace at Arley Hall in Cheshire. The mother-of-three added: "I've always loved lingerie modelling and feel my most confident and empowered when doing so." Helen is perhaps best known for playing Rose Webster on Corrie, first appearing on the Cobbles way back in 2000 where she would play the role on and off for the next 18 years before officially leaving the show, but during that time she was no stranger to a lingerie shoot. She continued: "I think 21-year-old me would be proud that 34-year-old me, and a Mum of 3, still has the confidence to do this! My body has changed but my message has not; let's love our bodies & be confident and gentle to ourselves in our skin. I hope this range has something for everyone." Coming not long after another big break-up to her ex-fiancée and father to her kids Scott Sinclair, Helen is now said to be wanting to concentrate on her career and family life.

The news of their split just comes weeks after she reportedly voiced concerns that her romance might be fizzling out, following Robbie's move out just months after living together. Helen is said to have found it difficult balancing being a full-time mum alongside both her career and relationship expectations. Adding further stress, the actress recently placed her 'forever home' on the market amid rumours of financial pressures. Helen previously resided in the eight-bedroom property located in Bolton, Greater Manchester, along with her former partner Scott, 36, and their children, before separating in 2022. In a heartfelt Instagram post in January, she divulged: "My love life was a s**t show.... I didn't look after my mental health. I felt so s**t and sad. I felt like my whole life was f***ed up now and I had the perfect family. 13 years is a long time to be with someone. My whole 20s. I had a lot of family fall-outs too and I also lost basically all my money. Me and Scott weren't married we were engaged. "My mental health was so bad I thought maybe my kids would be better off without me and maybe they would be better off with their dad as he's more level-headed than me.
