'Outstanding' Art Deco home in a Glasgow suburb hits the market
The movement's impact quickly spread and in Scotland, architects and designers incorporated features into their work, resulting in fashionable new villas, shops, cafés, and cinemas, many of which remain and now have listed status. (Image: Corum) Located south of the river Clyde in the high amenity suburb of Newton Mearns, Whitegables is an exemplary, flat-roofed detached villa distinguished by its classic Art Deco design and sizeable corner setting on Kirkview Crescent, within beautifully landscaped garden grounds. Built circa 1930, the property has since been extended on one side and provides superb family accommodation spanning more than 2,600 sq ft over two levels. On the ground floor, a striking black and white entrance hall sets the scene, paving the way to a front-facing formal sitting room partially open plan to a dining room, the latter with access into a spectacular 29ft family room with access to a decked terrace and garden beyond. From the family room, an inner hallway gives access to a bedroom with garden access, adjacent storage room, and integral double garage. On the other side of the main reception hall is a cloakroom, study/fifth bedroom, and large, dual aspect dining kitchen with garden access and adjacent utility. (Image: Corum) Upstairs are three beautifully proportioned bedrooms – all of which have a private balcony. In addition, the principal bedroom has an en suite shower room, as does the second bedroom, while the 24ft third bedroom is adjacent to the family bathroom and has the largest balcony – at 32ft wide, it spans almost the full width of the front of the house. Featuring hardwood flooring throughout the main accommodation, the monochromatic interior is dramatic and complements this incredible home's classic Art Deco features – window and door styles, coving, and stair balustrades – and choice of finishes. (Image: Corum) Nowhere is this clearer than the sitting room and kitchen, the former with an elongated, curved bay window, and fluted black and white fireplace, while the integrated kitchen displays pristine white units with contrasting black work surfaces, black geometric tiled border, and dazzling black and white geometric tiled floor. Externally bordered by mature trees and shrubs, the property is set in expansive, level garden grounds incorporating lawns, planted beds, and horseshoe driveway with parking for several vehicles. Whitegables is a truly outstanding home, located in a prime property hotspot with nearby M77/M8 access, and within walking distance of open countryside. Offers over £685,000 are invited by Corum's Newton Mearns office.

Les Snead explains why Rams want a 'committee with different skill sets' at RB
Les Snead explains why Rams want a 'committee with different skill sets' at RB One of the most fascinating picks in the Los Angeles Rams' draft class was Jarquez Hunter, the running back from Auburn. Los Angeles traded up 10 spots to land him in the fourth round, adding another playmaker to the backfield despite already having Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Williams' job as the RB1 seems safe but it's easy to imagine a scenario where his carries are reduced at least slightly in order to get Corum and now Hunter touches. Rams GM Les Snead explained on the 'Rich Eisen Show' that with the way the regular season has expanded to 17 games and potentially 18 in the near future, Los Angeles wants a committee with unique skill sets. 'He's just been a fun player to watch in terms of just how he runs, his running style,' Snead said. 'He's one of those guys that ignites a crowd, ignites an audience with the way he breaks tackles. He runs with joy and then if he does break those tackles, he has the ability to hit a double, triple, take it the distance. We do think the way this NFL season is going, the amount of wear and tear that goes into playing running back, having a committee and a committee with different skill sets only helps us continue being able to run the football like we want to run it.' From a roster-building perspective, this makes perfect sense. Williams has been a workhorse the last two years, carrying the ball 544 times in the regular season and 48 more times in the playoffs. The Rams have rarely taken Williams off the field since he became the starter in 2023, but that could change in 2025. Williams and Corum have similar skill sets, which is something Snead and Sean McVay lauded when they drafted Corum in the third round last year. Hunter is a different type of runner, though, bringing more speed and breakaway ability to the backfield. With Williams operating as the RB1 and getting the bulk of the carries on first and second down, it opens the door for Corum or Hunter to get opportunities on third down. The presence of two talented backups will also allow the Rams to keep Williams fresh throughout the season.
