An upcoming Netflix thriller you won't want to miss has just found its leading man from the wildly popular crime drama Gangs of London Netflix's highly anticipated thriller based on an acclaimed novel from an award-winning author has found its star. ‌ All the Sinners Bleed, by SA Cosby, was originally released in 2023 and follows the first Black sheriff of a small community in the Bible Belt. ‌ While dealing with a family tragedy, he's tasked with tracking down a serial killer who has been stalking his community for years. ‌ The streamer has now confirmed Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, of Gangs of London and Black Rabbit fame, will lead the cast as the sheriff. Netflix 's adaptation comes from the mind of screenwriter Joe Robert Cole, who penned Ryan Coogler's hit Marvel films Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. ‌ The drama is confirmed to consist of nine episodes, though a release date and further cast details have yet to be revealed. A synopsis reads: 'Haunted by his devout mother's untimely death, the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county must lead the hunt for a serial killer who has quietly been preying on his Black community for years in the name of God.' Doctor who desperately tried to save Malcolm-Jamal Warner's life breaks silence as he recalls chilling details of star's drowning death

A doctor claims he tried to save the life of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner prior to his tragic death via drowning Sunday in Costa Rica. The doctor, who did not want to be identified by name, told Us Weekly Thursday, 'I was about 200 meters from the incident, at Playa Grande, spending the day on vacation with my partner.' 'There were very few people on the beach, and the sea was rough.' The doctor said they rushed to the area The Cosby Show actor was at, upon hearing a hubbub. 'I ran to the area and entered the sea with my surfboard, heading into the rip current toward the person being pointed at by some beachgoers,' the doctor told the outlet. 'After a few minutes, I saw a shadow, dove down and pulled the person out.' The doctor said another beachgoer was in distress at the time too, describing the person 'as just someone who tried to help during the emergency, without any rescue equipment.' The actor's body was brought to the Judicial Investigation Department in Costa Rica Officials with the Judicial Investigation Department in Costa Rica said that the actor died Sunday after he drowned while on a Caribbean beach in the country. Warner had been at Playa Cocles in the Limon province, authorities said, and had been drawn deep into the water by a current. A first report from the department said that the actor had been 'rescued by people on the beach.' Red Cross officials said that first responders who located Warner could not detect vital signs; and subsequently transferred him to a nearby morgue. Warner's career in entertainment spanned more than four decades, as he also had featured roles on sitcoms such as Malcolm & Eddie, Listen Up and Read Between the Lines and drama shows such as The Resident and Jeremiah. Warner spoke with the AP in 2015 about his drive in maintaining his career after The Cosby Show went off the air nearly a quarter-century ago. Said the actor, 'I grew up with a maniacal obsession with not wanting to be one of those 'Where are they now kids.' 'I feel very blessed to be able to have all of these avenues of expression ... to be where I am now and finally at a place where I can let go of that worry about having a life after Cosby.' Warner, who received a nomination for an Emmy in 1986 for supporting actor in a comedy, told the AP in 2015 that the sex assault accusations against Cosby had 'tarnished' the legacy of the series, which virtually disappeared from heavy play in syndication amid Cosby's legal issues. 'My biggest concern is when it comes to images of people of color on television and film,' Warner said. 'We've always had The Cosby Show to hold up against that. 'And the fact that we no longer have that, that's the thing that saddens me the most because in a few generations the Huxtables will have been just a fairy tale.'

Bill Cosby mourns loss of The Cosby Show co-star Malcolm-Jamal Warner

Washington DC [US], July 24 (ANI): Veteran actor Bill Cosby recalled his working experience with his 'The Cosby Show' co-star Malcolm-Jamal Warner after the former passed away at the age of 54 due to drowning, reported Variety. Warner passed away on Sunday after an accidental drowning while swimming off the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica during a family vacation. According to local authorities, the actor was caught in a strong current. Despite efforts by beachgoers and first responders, Warner could not be revived, reported Variety. In an interview with ABC News, as quoted by Variety, Cosby reflected on Warner's legacy both on and off the screen, remembering him as "very professional" and "a great studier." "I enjoyed working with him very much. He always knew his part, he always knew his lines, and he always knew where to go," said Bill Cosby as quoted by Variety. According to the outlet, the role of Theo Huxtable was loosely inspired by Cosby's real-life son, Ennis, who was murdered in 1997. Cosby noted the parallels between the two young men and shared that Warner and Ennis were friends during their youth. Cosby also stated that he maintained a paternal bond with Warner long after 'The Cosby Show' ended its eight-season run from 1984 to 1992. "Malcolm calls here regularly. While I was their TV dad, I never stopped being a father to them," added Bill Cosby, as quoted by Variety. According to Wyatt, Cosby has been in contact with other "Cosby Show" alumni, including Phylicia Rashad, who played his onscreen wife Clair Huxtable. Warner's post-Cosby career was wide-ranging. He earned praise for his roles in 'Reed Between the Lines,' 'The Resident, ' and 'Sons of Anarchy.' He also won a Grammy Award in 2015 for best traditional R&B performance. In recent years, he focused on producing a podcast that delved into Black identity and cultural history, reported Variety. Cosby, once one of television's most beloved figures, was accused by more than 60 women of sexual assault and misconduct spanning decades. He served three years in prison after a 2018 conviction, which was later overturned on appeal. Cosby has continued to deny all allegations against him. (ANI)

‘The Cosby Show' Alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner's Cause of Death Confirmed

The Cosby Show alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner's cause of death has officially been revealed. The Costa Rican Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) confirmed that Warner's autopsy was completed on Tuesday, July 22. Warner's cause of death was "asphyxia due to submersion." It was ruled accidental. On Monday, July 21, TMZ and People reported that Warner had died at age 54, citing accidental drowning as the cause of death. Following the first report, ABC News spoke to the Costa Rican National Police, who told the outlet that Warner had drowned off the coast of Costa Rica and his official cause of death was asphyxia. Police claimed that he died near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica, after being caught by a high current in the water. He was discovered on Sunday, July 20. Most Shocking Celebrity Deaths of All Time Warner, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in August 1970, landed his breakout role as Bill Cosby's onscreen son Theo Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show, which aired from 1984 to 1992. His performance earned him a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 1986 Emmy Awards. After The Cosby Show, Warner continued his television career on shows such as Malcolm & Eddie from 1996 to 2000, Reed Between the Lines in 2011 and 2015, Sons of Anarchy in 2014, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story in 2016 and The Resident from 2018 to 2023. Most recently, Warner had a four-episode-stint as Amir Casey on 9-1-1 in 2024. Aside from acting, Warner had a successful music and spoken poetry career. He won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song 'Jesus Children' with Robert Glasper Experiment and Lalah Hathaway in 2015 followed by another Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album Hiding in Plain View in 2022. Despite Cosby's sexual assault scandals, Warner said that the show is still 'so groundbreaking' and important. 'What made it so groundbreaking was its universality,' he explained to People in February 2023. 'NBC initially saw it as a show about an upper-middle class Black family. Mr Cosby diligently impressed upon them that the show was about an upper-middle-class family that happened to be Black.' Celebrity Deaths of 2025: Anne Burrell, Kim Woodburn and More Stars We've Lost This Year Warner went on to say that before The Cosby Show, 'black sitcom humor was predicated on being Black' — and all of that changed with the NBC sitcom. 'Though the Huxtables were clearly Black — reflected quite obviously by their dress, the Black art on the walls, the music — the family issues all were universal,' he told the outlet. 'And though Cliff [Cosby] was a doctor and Claire [Phylicia Rashad] was an attorney, the family dynamic was one that practically every family — no matter the ethnicity, socio-economic status or even family makeup — could find something to relate to.' Warner is survived by his wife and a daughter, whose names he has not chosen to publicly reveal.
