Bad weather affects supply of rice, other products in Itbayat, Batanes — PDRRMO
Severe weather conditions have affected the supply of rice and other products in Itbayat, Batanes, according to the provincial disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO).
In the report of GMA Regional TV's Cris Zuñiga in Balitanghali on Monday, the Batanes PDRRMO said that most of the supply of commodities in Itbayat come from Basco via air or sea. But the strong waves in the sea have become a challenge for delivering goods, the report added.
The northernmost municipality of Itbayat has a population of around 2,900.
Rains have persisted for more than two weeks in Batanes. Aside from rice, the weather condition has resulted in low stocks of corn, animal feeds and petroleum products, the report further said.
