All-Ireland champions Armagh 'have not gone away'
Armagh forward Rory Grugan said that the All-Ireland champions "have not gone away" after their 0-24 to 0-19 victory against Dublin at Croke second victory in Group Four of the All-Ireland round-robin series, coupled with Galway's draw with Derry saw the Orchard County top the group and progress to the Grugan believes their smooth passage through the so called 'group of death' will show critics they are well in the hunt to retain the Sam Maguire after losing the Ulster Championship final."A lot of people probably had us written off at the start of the year but we haven't gone away," he told RTE after being awarded man-of-the match against the Dubs. "After the disappointment of the Ulster final, coming to this group was daunting but we knew how important the first game was, and we produced a really good performance [in a win against Derry] and it meant we could really come at it here today. "We didn't know the other result would work that a win today would see us top the group but it's a good position to be to get that quarter final and that extra week's rest."Armagh's efficiency in front of goal proved to be the difference and Grugan was pleased with their performance once they got over a slow start."I think we got to grips with the game after a shaky start. We knew Dublin were going to come at us hard, they were cutting through us, but we started to put a bit of control in the game and built a lead," he explained."They came fighting at us but maybe that bit of better conversion from our side won us the game."

Armagh through to All-Ireland quarter-finals with Dublin win
Holders Armagh progress to the All-Ireland quarter-finals after winning Group Four [Getty Images] All-Ireland champions Armagh booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 0-24 to 0-19 victory against Dublin in their second round-robin game at Croke Park. Playing for the first time at Croke Park since beating Galway in last year's decider, Armagh led 0-13 to 0-9 at the break after a strong end to the half. Advertisement The efficiency shown by the Orchard County going forward ultimately proved crucial in the second half as Dublin finished with 17 wides. The five-point victory helped the Sam Maguire holders to claim top spot in Group Four and progress straight through to the last eight at the end of June. Armagh finish first half strong Dublin were without influential captain Con O'Callaghan, who was injured in the victory against Galway last time out, but they made a bright start at Croke Park. Cormac Costello was key to them moving three points clear on 17 minutes after the sides had exchanged early scores. They lost their way midway through the half however due to their wastefulness in front of goal. Advertisement The Dubs had 19 shots in the first period but only nine points to show for it, while Armagh were much more clinical at the other end and scored five points from Dublin's kickout. Rory Grugan's two-pointer on 18 minutes brought Armagh back to within one point before a fine solo run and finish from Jarly Og Burns drew the holders level. Stephen Cluxton then made two good stops to deny Oisin Conaty and Andrew Murnin but Dublin went 11 minutes without scoring as the Orchard County took control. Grugan added a free while Rian O'Neill, on his second start of the season, nailed a super two-pointer as did Conor Turbitt to put Kieran McGeeney's side ahead for the first time. Advertisement Conaty, who was named player of the match in last year's final weaved his way through to fire over before a Costello free reduced the deficit to four ahead of half-time. Holders punish wasteful hosts Armagh did not relent after the break and O'Neill got his second two-pointer to extend their advantage. Dublin continued to be the architects of their own downfall as three times in a matter of minutes they were penalised for not keeping three players up in the other half, allowing Grugan to stroke home three easy frees. Costello missed a two-point free off the ground before making amends a few minutes later with a fine two-pointer to bring Dublin back within five. Advertisement Points from Ethan Rafferty and Darragh McMullan steadied Armagh, but another two-pointer from Sean Bugler kept the hosts believing they could fight back. Bugler, Costello and John Small were all guilty of adding to Dublin's wide count, with such misses proving costly in the end. Substitute Stefan Campbell tagged on a point while O'Neill got his third two-pointer by kicking a free off the ground to widen the gap further. Dublin kept coming back with another two-pointer, this time from Paddy Small again cutting the deficit. Another point from a substitute, this time Joe McElroy, kept the scoreboard ticking over and Dublin failed in a late push to get back in the game as Armagh saw out the win. McGeeney's side will face Galway in their final game while Dublin take on Derry on the weekend of 14/15 June, knowing a win would secure their passage to the next round.

Antrim and Fermanagh progress in Tailteann Cup after wins
Antrim fought back to beat London 1-22 to 1-14 at Pairc Esler and progress to the preliminary quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup. London led 0-10 to 0-6 at the break in Newry, but a Niall Burns goal soon after the Saffrons had missed a penalty helped turn the tide in Antrim's favour as they secured their first win since February. Advertisement Fermanagh went through directly to the last eight after a 0-25 to 1-19 victory against Wexford at Croke Park secured top spot in group four. The Ernesiders trailed 1-8 to 0-9 at half-time in Dublin, but a run of five successive scores helped them to a comeback win. Super second half for Saffrons Antrim lost both of their opening two games in Group Three against Limerick and Westmeath and knew they needed to beat London to have a chance of progressing as one of the competition's best third placed teams. The Saffrons struck first in Newry through two efforts from Ryan McQuillan before four successive London scores, including a two-pointer from Conal Gallagher, edged them ahead. Advertisement McQuillan got his and Antrim's third of the afternoon, but Liam Gallagher replied with another two-pointer for London. Both sides then registered two points apiece before Conor Stewart's score just before half-time saw Antrim go in four down at the break. Paddy McBride and Dominic McEnhill both nailed two-pointers after the restart to draw Antrim level. The two teams exchanged scores before a third two-pointer of the half from Conor Hand put the Saffrons back ahead. It was nip-and-tuck up until Antrim had a penalty saved by London goalkeeper Andrew Walsh. They responded well to the miss as Niall Burns' deflected effort found the back of the net on 60 minutes. Advertisement He added a point to his goal soon after with McEnhill getting another two-pointer and McQuillian on target to give Antrim a comfortable advantage. London scored a goal late in the game, but injury-time points from Marc Jordan and McEnhill helped the Saffrons complete the turnaround and go through. Fermanagh top the group after Wexford win The Ernesiders went ahead at Croke Park with two early points before Wexford enjoyed a fruitful spell. Pairic Hughes levelled with a two-pointer before Sean Nolan fired them ahead with a goal after 11 minutes. They tagged on three more points, one of which was another two-pointer, this time from Mark Rossiter. Advertisement Kieran Donnelly's men continued to fight and rattled off four successive scores of their own to cut the gap and a few more late points, after a flurry of scores for both sides, saw them reduce the deficit to two at half-time. Glen Malone pointed for Wexford after the restart, but Fermanagh registered the next five points to move back in front. The two teams traded scores before Fermanagh managed to pull away with three consecutive points and they saw out a five-point win. Fermanagh's victory, coupled with Longford beating Carlow, handed the Ernesiders top spot in the group and a passage to the quarter-finals.
