Ross Chastain wins the 2025 Coca-Cola 600, full results

Ross Chastain wins the 2025 Coca-Cola 600, full results The NASCAR Cup Series arrived at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 2025 Coca-Cola 600 and didn't disappoint. William Byron won the first three stages, and while the No. 24 car looked unbeatable, other drivers, such as Denny Hamlin and Carson Hocevar, caught up in the speed department. However, it was none of these three drivers that pulled off a victory in NASCAR's second Crown Jewel event of 2025. Ross Chastain and the No. 1 team for Trackhouse Racing won the 2025 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, earning their first victory of the Cup Series season. Chastain's No. 1 car came alive at night and tracked down Byron in the closing laps. The Trackhouse Racing driver was faster than Byron, and when the Hendrick Motorsports driver made a mistake, he pounced with six laps to go. Chastain, who started last after wrecking in practice, had great speed on Saturday but wasn't able to display his talent until Sunday. The driver of the No. 1 car failed to make the 2024 NASCAR playoffs, but that won't be the case this year. Instead, Chastain has clinched a spot in the 16-driver field and won his first Crown Jewel event in NASCAR. 2025 Coca-Cola 600 results

Ross Chastain Wins the Coca-Cola 600 After Starting 40th in a Backup Car

After a tough start to the 2025 season, Ross Chastain brings Trackhouse Racing its first win of the year and his first Crown Jewel victory. The No. 24 Chevy of William Byron swept all three stages and lost the lead to Chastain with six laps to go. Chastain made the pass going into turn one as a recently lapped Denny Hamlin ran the bottom. Chastain hunted Byron through the second half of the final stage as Denny Hamlin ran out of fuel. Chastain then had to hold off Byron through the final five laps as Byron reeled him in in the final three laps, but ultimately Chastain pulled away as Byron kissed the wall. Chastain started the race in 40th position after going to a backup car after a qualifying crash on Saturday. He only led the final eight laps in the race, six on the final run once he got by Byron. This is the first time since 2012 that a driver won from 40th or back, and the first time since Byron last year someone won in a backup car. Marty, I'm going to soak this in. "Yes," Chastain told Amazon Prime when asked if he thought he could win in the backup car. "When I left the shop last night, I went over and sat in this car for the first time it was about 10 PM when I left, [the team] worked this car until at least 2:30, and they were back at 5:30 AM. Most of them drive 30-40 minutes home, shower, I don't even know if they slept, they were back there at 5:30 to get this thing ready. That's the dedication it takes from Trackhouse. There were people there who had their Saturdays off, and they came in." Chastain, with watermelon still dripping from his mouth, went on the honor the McCrae family who's patriarch he carried in memory with him through this Memorial Day special race. WWE star Drew McIntyre has confirmed he is currently competing while "working hurt" following a moment during the recent Backlash premium live event. The injury occurred during a heated Fatal 4-Way match for the United States Championship, ultimately won by Jacob Fatu. In that contest, McIntyre was in a fierce brawl with Damian Priest that extended into the crowd. The two reached a dangerous climax when Priest executed a 'South of Heaven Chokeslam' on McIntyre from an elevated platform, with McIntyre unfortunately missing the table intended to break his fall and reportedly striking his head on the floor. In a new interview with Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel, McIntyre provided an update on his physical condition. "I can't turn my head all the way left yet. Working hurt is just what happens if you're an athlete, especially as the years go by," the 39-year-old McIntyre stated. He further discussed the distinction between being hurt and truly injured. "If you're injured, it is something to take care of. Maybe back in the day, we would have taped it up and gone with it. In the past I have worked with muscle tears and breaks, which isn't the most sensible thing, but the way we operate now, you want to last for the long run." More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Beyond the rigorous weekly demands of in-ring competition, McIntyre maintains a schedule busier than many of his peers. He has undertaken more media interviews than most, a practice he notably increased during the pandemic era. It was announced that WWE wrestler Braun Strowman will face heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury and WWE champion Brock Lesnar will take on former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at the WWE's Crown Jewel event at Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31. More This commitment to external engagement also saw him host 10 episodes of the talk show "Drew & A" on Peacock, where he conversed with a diverse array of guests, from actor Matthew McConaughey to medium John Edward. Adding to his ventures outside the squared circle, earlier this month, McIntyre was unveiled as the new spokesman for Project Rock's "You Against You" campaign, which centers on the theme of overcoming self-doubt. McIntyre brought up his comfort and proficiency in these roles to his dedicated efforts during a unique period in wrestling history. "I was doing a lot during the pandemic because I wanted to get as good as possible at this part of the job," he explained. "And now I've gotten so comfortable doing it that it's 100% fun. This isn't a job. This is my passion. I always wanted to be Peter Pan, and now I've officially grown up to be Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up who wears tights to work." WWE Superstar Kevin Owens Shares Concerning Injury Update

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Superstar Kevin Owens is currently dealing with a lot of questions about his neck injury. He remains positive that a clear plan for his recovery will be found in the near future. This serious health issue has already caused a major change to WWE's biggest show of the year. Owens was sadly unable to wrestle in his scheduled match against Randy Orton at WWE WrestleMania 41 last April. Doctors made the call that he was not fit to take part in the match. This decision came after they found out he would need an operation on his neck. This past Sunday, May 18, 2025, Owens gave an update to WWE fans using X. The much-loved former WWE World Champion explained he got the bad neck injury earlier in 2025 and has been away from the ring since then. He also shared that the needed surgery has not happened yet. Owens told his followers directly about the current situation with his health. WWE/Getty Images He stated, "We don't have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet. Despite reports to the contrary, we're still trying to figure out the best way to go about it all and exactly what needs to be done. So we're kind of figuring that out still. So, there's a lot of uncertainty, but hopefully, in the next few weeks, we get clarity, we do the surgery, and then we go from there." Even with this difficult news about his injury, Owens also took time in his video message to mark a special day in his career. He celebrated the ten-year mark since his unforgettable first appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation That night, a decade ago, he famously answered John Cena's open challenge for the United States Championship. Owens said that this one match completely changed the direction of his wrestling career for the better. He also showed he was very thankful for all the WWE fans who have followed him. He thanked everyone who has stayed with him and supported him through all the years of his WWE journey. Losing a talent like Owens to injury is a significant blow for WWE. He has proven to be an incredibly valuable and flexible member of their team for a long time now. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
