Colombian Liverpool Star Luis Díaz Wanted By Barcelona And Saudi Club

Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones of Liverpool celebrate as Liverpool are crowned the ... More Champions of the Premier League for the 2024/25 Season following the Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Crystal Palace FC at Anfield on May 25, 2025 in Liverpool, England. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Barcelona and Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League have named Liverpool and Colombia forward Luis Díaz as a transfer target this summer. Averaging a goal every 180 minutes of playing time this season; it has been Díaz's most potent in Liverpool red. The Colombian has achieved these numbers whilst rotating significantly between the starting XI and the bench, as well as the left wing and the more central 'false nine' position. This comes off the back of a sublime summer of 2024 with Colombia too, as 'Lucho' led his national team to the Copa America final, only to face defeat to Argentina in extra-time. Díaz has also helped his national team to the brink of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification over the course of this season. Colombia could confirm qualification its spot this June and that would mean a first ever World Cup appearance for the 28 year-old. Liverpool won the Premier League this season, undoubtedly the biggest success of Díaz's career. His level of performance and adaptability proved absolutely key for Arne Slot's side and his ability to link up with the likes of Mohamed Salah helped the Reds to storm towards a 20th league title. Luis Diaz of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's sixth goal with teammate Mohamed Salah during ... More the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 22, 2024 in London, England. There have often been rumours of Saudi clubs showing interest in Luis Díaz, and of course this interest comes with the temptation of huge wage packets, but surely Díaz has enough quality and years in his relatively young legs to continue enjoying the top level of European soccer instead. Obviously Saudi Arabia would present Lucho with the biggest offer financially, but it will be interesting to see if that is enough to tempt him away from Anfield. Barcelona has long been an admirer of the Colombian winger, and would certainly provide the latin star with some overdue sunshine. Many South American players are tempted by the big Spanish clubs because of the lifestyle on the Mediterranean and the obvious fact that they would be living in a Spanish speaking country. However FC Barcelona is currently home to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, perhaps two of the best footballers on the planet this year. Given that they operate on the left and right flanks where would Lucho fit into this system? Or would he make the move to Barcelona just to be a player that comes off the bench or at times plays as a striker? It doesn't seem to make sense for the player or the club given that 'FCB' could do with strengthening in other areas and already boasts a fine attack with Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in the mix. Díaz has made himself comfortable at Liverpool and he can be a big player for the Reds as the club chases European and domestic glory again next season. He is adored by the fans and is part of a fine dressing room atmosphere alongside other South American teammates like Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson Becker. Liverpool's English midfielder #17 Curtis Jones (L), Liverpool's Colombian midfielder #07 Luis Diaz ... More (C) and Liverpool's Uruguayan striker #09 Darwin Nunez celebrate with the Premier League trophy during an open-top bus victory parade for Liverpool's Premier League title win, in Liverpool, north-west England on May 26, 2025. The Colombian recently enjoyed a trophy parade in front of hundreds of thousands in Liverpool city centre and the club has already shown its intention to add to the squad and compete again next season. It makes you wonder. Surely Lucho is exactly where he needs to be? Crucially, there is one year to go until the FIFA 2026 World Cup. This will be the proudest moment of Díaz's career and the idea of any instability, bad vibes or sitting on the Barcelona bench until then just doesn't make sense. Time will tell what happens regarding Díaz's future, but at just 28 Díaz seems to be in the perfect team to enter his prime years with. Liverpool celebrate Premier League success with fans in city centre parade

Red smoke canisters were let off as the team's open-top bus – emblazoned with the words 'Ours. Again' – crawled its way through the heaving mass of supporters who defied the rain to celebrate a record-equalling 20th championship. They and the club had been denied this occasion when they ended a 30-year drought in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions but they made up for the missed opportunity on a dank day by the Mersey. The 10-mile long parade took three-and-a-half hours but the finale on the Strand was worth the wait for those who had gathered in the shadow of the Liver Building before 10am to ensure a prime spot. Liverpool City Councillor John Hughes estimated in excess of one million people were attending, beating the 750,000 present for the 2019 Champions League parade. Hundreds ignored police advice not to climb on structures – or adhere to the 'no pyro' request – as every vantage point, ranging from multi-storey car parks, scaffolding, rooftops, on top of petrol stations, traffic lights and lamp posts, was taken. An estimated one million people turned out to watch Liverpool's title parade (Peter Byre/PA) Head coach Arne Slot said it was the best day of his career. 'By far the number one, far more than you could expect or dream of maybe,' he said. 'I won a few things before but this cannot compare with anything.' It began at Allerton Maze in a relatively calm environment with Henry, in dark glasses and dressed in a red hoodie and poncho to keep out the rain, availing himself of the refreshments aboard the bus early on. The players were taking Van Dijk's advice to make sure they enjoyed the moment, with Toxteth-born Curtis Jones front and centre for most of the route alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and the departing Scouser Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back of the bus, standing on the seats to hold the trophy above his head. Mohamed Salah (left), Dominik Szoboszlai (second left), Curtis Jones (centre left) and team-mates on the bus during Liverpool's parade (Peter Byrne/PA) Jones said: 'Unbelievable. It's my second one (title) but this one feels more special as I've played more of a bigger role in this.' The first two and a half miles raced by in 40 minutes with the streets fully lined but not packed. The remainder of the route was more of a crawl, often stop-start, and where the bus made the turn towards the city centre at the Jolly Miller pub the crowd was 20 to 30 people deep in places. That had almost doubled by the time they reached the closing stretch where on-board DJ Calvin Harris, originally recruited by fellow Scot Andy Robertson for the 2022 cup double parade but requested by Van Dijk this time, cranked up the fans' favourite tunes.

Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Arsenal events take place to celebrate major trophy victories

A number of bus parades and events have taken place across England today as three teams celebrated their footballing successes. Liverpool 's celebration of their Premier League victory began at 2.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, and was expected to last between three and five hours. A number of the city's landmarks were lit up in Liverpool FC imagery along the route of the bus parade, the club said. Having now won their 20th league title in the top flight of English football, Liverpool have equalled the record of rivals Manchester United. Fans lined the streets with plumes of red smoke greeting the players along the way. Neil Atkinson, content manager of fan site The Anfield Wrap, told Sky News there was something "democratic" about a parade. "I'm lucky to be able to go to Liverpool away games, but you only get 3,000 tickets," he said. "I'm lucky to be able to go to Anfield, but there's only 60,000 seats. A parade, all it needs is for someone to have their bit of concrete and we're all equal, and we can all enjoy Liverpool. "And what we're able to do to give a gift to the players of Liverpool to say thank you for what it is they've done." Midfielder Curtis Jones told LFCTV on the bus that it was his "second [title], but this one feels even more special". "I've played more of a bigger role in this, so it's good just to enjoy it here with all the staff and the players and of course the fans as well," he added. Speaking to players after his first season in charge, manager Arne Slot said the team had "refused to lose this season". "It's been an amazing season for us. The work you've put in has been absolutely outstanding," he added. One fan who had travelled from Gibraltar for the celebrations told Sky News he was "loving it". Another Liverpool supporter added that the atmosphere was "different" in the city on Monday. "I went to the gym this morning and there was people camping out already. It's surreal really," he said. 1:49 Fans 'so proud' of Arsenal women Arsenal 's women kicked off the celebrations on Monday morning after their UEFA Women's Champions League victory in Lisbon on Saturday. The trophy was lifted at Armoury Square, outside the Emirates Stadium, after the team's 1-0 victory over Barcelona. Former Arsenal footballer-turned-presenter Alex Scott and Emirates Stadium host Nigel Mitchell presented the celebration. It is the first time Arsenal have won the women's Champions League in 18 years, since their maiden title in the 2006-07 season. Sky's Rob Harris spoke to some of the supporters who had turned out to watch their team lift the trophy. "I can't believe they've just won. We've waited so long for this, I'm so proud of them," one said. "Women's football has come such a long way. And just to see the amount of support that it's started to get, it's like, this is the direction it needs to go in," another added. Palace saviour first major trophy Crystal Palace 's open-top bus parade started at 12.45pm to celebrate the team's FA Cup win, having beaten Manchester City 1-0 to secure the trophy. 1:27 The parade lasted around 45 minutes, before the trophy lift took place at Selhurst Park at 2.30pm. The club promised its supporters live entertainment, special guests and end-of-season awards. Attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze told Sky's Sarah-Jane Mee he was "enjoying" the attention after scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final. "To be able to actually achieve that, to score and to help my team win, and to be a part of a squad that has done it, keep the questions coming man, because I'm enjoying it," he said. The Eagles' FA Cup win saw the club awarded its first major trophy. "This is amazing, absolutely amazing. The crowd is buzzing, everyone is cheerful, it's a really good atmosphere," Palace fan Julie Setchfield told Sky News.

Liverpool could have rare luxury vs. Brighton that it hasn't had since Ipswich game in August

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez could make his return to action on Monday as the Reds travel to Brighton in the Premier League. Gomez has not played for the Reds since February's 1-0 defeat by Plymouth in the FA Cup, a game in which he came off early after sustaining a serious hamstring problem. Gomez underwent surgery on the issue and has been rehabilitating in the three months since. Gomez made his return to training on June 9, but the game against Arsenal on June 11 came too soon for him to figure in. Gomez traveled to Dubai with the rest of Liverpool's players last week, which was arranged in order for the group to celebrate the club's title win, and he took part in training once more on Friday. READ MORE: Jeremie Frimpong has perfect Liverpool squad number option as Reds close in on transfer READ MORE: How Jeremie Frimpong's wage compares to Trent Alexander-Arnold's Liverpool salary Arne Slot and Liverpool's players took four days off between Monday and Thursday, with training resuming on Friday and also scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, ahead of Monday's game on the South Coast. Gomez's prospective return would give Slot the luxury of having a fully fit squad to choose from, which is not a particularly common occurrence for soccer managers. Indeed, Slot has not had a full roster to choose from in the Premier League since the opening weekend of the season, when the Reds traveled to Ipswich Town. Curtis Jones missed the following two games through injury, before Harvey Elliott was sidelined for two months with a fractured foot. Alisson, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa all missed games due to injury at the back end of 2024. Bradley and Konate were the last players from that group to make their returns from injury, and when they did, Gomez had already suffered the injury against Plymouth that has kept him sidelined ever since. Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Slot was asked in a press conference on Friday if it was difficult to motivate his players for the final weeks of the season, considering the team effectively has nothing to play for. "The honest answer is yes, it's clear to everyone," Slot said. "If we were still competing for the Premier League, there would have been a few days off as well, but we would have gone somewhere else. "I don't think we're the only team that gives players a few extra days off when you play on Sunday and then don't play again until the following Monday. The honest answer is there is a difference [in motivation] but if I look at the way we played against Arsenal, I saw a team that wanted to compete against Arsenal from the first second until the last. "Even when we were having some problems in the second half, we were able to come back into the game so it shows you the mentality is very good "It doesn't matter if you've won the league — if you play Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton, these are difficult games to play. That's why I was also so happy that we were already enough points clear to clinch the title against Tottenham."
