‘Ibrahim Ali Khan is made for the camera, he is bloody handsome': Sarzameen director on casting his lead star

Even before Sara Ali Khan's brother Ibrahim Ali Khan made his acting debut with Nadaaniyan, opposite Khushi Kapoor, he was already a social media sensation. The reason? His uncanny resemblance to actor father Saif Ali Khan and killer good looks. Sadly, when Ibrahim's much-awaited debut film finally arrived on OTT, it failed to impress. Khushi and Ibrahim were brutally trolled. Two weeks ago, Ibrahim returned to our screens with his second film Sarzameen. The action thriller, also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol, received mixed reviews. But netizens claimed that Ibrahim had improved. Ibrahim Ali Khan in Sarzameen In a recent appearance on Cyrus Broacha's podcast Cyrus Says, Boman Irani's son and Sarzameen director Kayoze Irani opened up about casting Ibrahim Ali Khan as his lead star. Kayoze shared, 'I did see something in him. The first thing I saw is that this boy is tailor-made for the camera. And even his harshest critics can't disagree. When he is in front of the camera, he has got a presence. He is made for the camera, and he is bloody handsome.' Kayoze, who made his acting debut with Student of the Year, went on to add, 'He always had the physique. Atul (Mongia) also said that there is something really there. And we have to find his inner world. We have to find what is there inside of him that will come out so his performance is actually him. And that's what we focused on. And I used to have a little sheet with key words that I used to talk to him through the scenes about. Motivating words. So that's how it worked. And that's why he is getting a lot more love on this one.' According to Sarzameen reviews online, netizens mutually agree that Ibrahim Ali Khan is a handsome young man. But fans and critics alike believe he still has a long way to go. We wish him all the best!

Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan starrer 'Sarzameen' released on OTT on July 25. It marked Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim's second film after Nadaaniyan. In a recent interview, Sarzameen director Kayoze Irani said that he believes Ibrahim is 'tailor-made' for the camera, and has got a screen presence. When asked who chose Ibrahim for the film, Kayoze replied, 'Karan sir and me." He further added, 'I did see something in him. The first thing I saw is that this boy is tailor-made for the camera. And even his harshest critics can't disagree. When he is in front of the camera, he has got a presence. He is made for the camera, and he is bloody handsome." 'He always had the physique. And that's why he is getting a lot more love on this one," said Kayoze Irani. How Ibrahim Ali Khan Was Chosen For Sarzameen In another interview with SCREEN, Irani explained how Ibrahim was chosen for the film and the unique process behind his preparation. 'With Ibrahim, I was on the set of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). Ibrahim was an AD (Assistant Director). He was filling in for Ranveer Singh as they were setting up the shot." He added, 'Karan sir and I both were sitting behind the monitor and we felt he's got a face for the camera. So we decided to launch him. We did an audition, readings, and a six-month workshop by Atul Mongia with him. That's how we brought him onboard," he revealed. Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions, in collaboration with Star Studios, the film was released on JioHotstar on July 25, 2025. 'Shah Rukh Khan drank village chaas without hesitation,' says Makarand Deshpande as recalls Swades shoot and SRK's generosity

Makarand Deshpande has always been an intense actor and recently opened up about the movie which he did with Shah Rukh Khan , Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Swades'. He recalled some behind-the-scenes incidents which made it very memorable for him in particular. Deshpande reflected on SRK's humility, creative involvement, and the emotional warmth that defined their reunion after 13 years. SRK's grounded gesture: He drank chaas without hesitation Deshpande reminisced while appearing on the Cyrus Says podcast when offered super star SRK a glass of buttermilk freshly fetched from a local village during the shooting of Yun Hi Chala Chal. SRK, despite being a star, would not refuse such an offering, and that was the moment when Deshpande truly believed to capture his down-to-earth nature. As said in the interview, SRK drank it 'bina kisi jhijak ke,' without flinching or fuss. Shah Rukh Khan took charge behind the scenes During the filming of the road-trip song, Deshpande described how SRK took on multiple responsibilities—driving the caravan, coordinating with the crew via walkie-talkie, and even helping choreograph moments. Deshpande jokingly called himself the 'brat' on set, enjoying the ride while SRK handled the logistics. He added that the idea for his hair movement during Kailash Kher's alaap came directly from SRK, who was invested in even the smallest creative details. A reunion after 13 years—and SRK remembered everything As reported by Indian Express, Deshpande was surprised by how much SRK remembered about his theatre work and indie film 'Danav,' despite not being in touch for over a decade. The actor said it felt like three people from different worlds, him from theatre, SRK from superstardom, and Gowariker fresh off 'Lagaan' coming together in harmony. SRK's cameo for Deshpande's indie film came with no price Deshpande also shared that when he requested SRK to appear in a close-up for his indie film 'Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu,' the actor did not charge a fee. Instead, SRK told him to send his cameraman and offered his own car and camera for the shoot. As said in the podcast, SRK told him, 'You don't need to spend money. Just send your cameraman, I'll get the unit.'

Meet actor who was thrown out of films after debut movie, father gave ultimatum, says 'his love was tough'; He is..., father was...

We have probably seen a list of actors who took breaks after giving several hits, and today we will be talking about one of them. Worked for over a decade in the film industry, lived his chocolate boy era and then disappeared for over a decade. Comeback after a decade Suddenly, after a decade, he made a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix India period drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar and Mudassar Aziz's dramedy Khel Khel Mein last year and Tarun Manshukhani's ensemble whodunit comedy Housefull 5 this week. Yes, we are talking about Fardeen Khan. But did you know, like many second-generation actors of his era, Fardeen Khan's early years in the industry were marked by struggles. Fardeen Khan: 'It was tough…' Talking about the box office failure and negative reviews of his debut film, directed by his late father Feroz Khan, Prem Aggan, recently, the actor opened and said, 'Of course, it was tough. Criticism was harsh.' He further added, 'People I was supposed to be working with in my next few projects changed their minds and pulled out of the projects. Money had to be returned. It was really a good chance to sit back and think.' Feroz Khan gave him an ultimatum? On the Cyrus Says podcast, Fardeen remembered that his father, Feroz Khan, gave him an ultimatum after his debut film, Prem Aggan, flopped. Fardeen said, 'He said, 'We tried, we failed.' I'm putting a roof over your head for one year. I'll pay you an X amount of money every month. After that, you're on your own.' Fardeen further added, 'It was a beautiful call. He said I've sent you to one of the best universities in the world. I hope you're prepared to deal with life. This is how life is.' Fardeen was informed by Feroz Khan that his father had passed away when he was only 13 years old. He had to look after his family, which had five brothers and a sister. Fardeen added, 'He said, 'I had a vision, I did it. Now, let's see what you're made of.' It was as simple as that. It was really what I had to hear at that time. His love was tough! That just speaks to the kind of guy he was.' According to reports, Fardeen Khan had always been more passionate about filmmaking than being on camera. After returning from film school abroad, his father, Feroz Khan, decided to launch him as an actor, with Prem Aggan marking his Bollywood debut. 'I had a director who was just not my father, but also an iconic actor. So you're just worried about not getting it wrong. You bury the pressure and put it away, especially in cases like mine, whose father is so iconic in so many ways. If you think about that, you're finished. You just try and be honest with yourself and the written word on the script. And you try not to mess it up,' he said.

A post shared by Fardeen F Khan (@fardeenfkhan) During the interview, Fardeen also opened up about his sobriety and giving up alcohol during the pandemic lockdown. The actor said, 'I was sober in the early 2020s. That's when I kicked the habit full on during the COVID-19 lockdown. I stopped in one go.' He revealed that the reason was that his drinking problem had come to a point where it was interfering with his life. 'I needed to stop. I sought professional help to stop. It is probably the best decision I have made in my life. I started drinking very young,' the Housefull 5 actor said. The 51-year-old actor revealed that after quitting, it was the first time that his 'brain fog kind of cleared'. 'I was feeling bloody 60 years old. Now, when you wake up, you feel clean, sober…I quit overnight, but coming to terms with your new life was a tough journey,' he told Cyrus Broacha. Per the actor, quitting alcohol was a voluntary decision as he wasn't getting anything out of it anymore; he wasn't getting any enjoyment, and he wasn't happy with who he was as a person. Reflecting on his sobriety, the actor added that the whole point of being sober is actually relaxing and being comfortable with yourself, and that took quite a few years of work. 'I have never been happier,' he added in the end.
