Action soon on Pocso case accused's participation in Kerala school event: Minister V Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will soon take appropriate action on the basis of the report of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE), Thiruvananthapuram, on the incident in which Pocso case accused vlogger Mukesh M Nair participated as a guest in the reopening ceremony of a government school on June 2, General Education Minister V Sivankutty has said. The inquiry report of the DDE had concluded that the responsibility for the incident lies entirely on the headmaster of the school. 'It was not right to allow the participation of a Pocso case accused in the event. I would like to clarify that such persons should never be allowed to participate in any school event in the state,' the minister told reporters here on Wednesday. The minister said the headmaster had visited him earlier in the day and admitted that allowing the Pocso accused in the event was a mistake on the part of the school.

Minister promises action in Praveshanolsavam incident at school

A report submitted by the Deputy Director of Education (DDE), Thiruvananthapuram, on the participation of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case accused in a school reopening event early this week has placed full responsibility for the incident on the school headmaster. Director of General Education Shanavas S. has received the report on the incident that occurred at Fort High School, West Fort, from DDE Sreeja Gopinath. In the wake of an adverse report against the school, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty said on Wednesday that appropriate action would be taken in the matter. The Minister said the school headmaster had met him and explained that an organisation that distributed school supplies to students had included POCSO case accused Mukesh M. Nair, a vlogger, in the function. However, the participation of Mukesh was a lapse on the part of the school authorities. The headmaster and the teachers could not claim they did not know the accused. No random person could be included in such events just because they were associated with a non-profit, the Minister said. 'It was wrong to involve a POCSO case accused in the school Praveshanolsavam. Such persons should not be asked to participate in any public event in a school,' Mr. Sivankutty said. The Minister had directed the Thiruvananthapuram Deputy Director of Education to conduct an urgent inquiry into the incident and submit a report.

Education department orders investigation after Pocso accused attends school event

Thiruvananthapuram : Education minister V Sivankutty ordered a probe and sought a report from the deputy director of education (DDE), Thiruvananthapuram, after a Pocso case accused participated in a school reopening ceremony on Monday. Based on this directive, the deputy director Sreeja Gopinath, visited the school on Tuesday and took statements from the principal and other school authorities. The education department is investigating the participation of Pocso case accused vlogger Mukesh M Nair as the chief guest at the school reopening ceremony of Fort High School. However, the school authorities blamed the sponsor of the event for Nair's participation. The principal Pradeep Kumar, said Nair was not invited by the school authorities and that the sponsor of the event invited Nair without informing the school authorities. However, the education department is skeptical about the school authority's version of the story, since posters and banners with Nair's photograph were displayed at the school way before the event. Nair presented mementos to students who achieved excellent results and gave a speech at the event. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He also took selfies with the students before leaving.
