Producers hint at 'Mamma Mia! 3' with Sabrina Carpenter rumoured to join the cast

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter as a potential new addition to the 'Mamma Mia!' cast Image: X/@carpenterfiles When a pop star starts climbing the charts and turning heads, it's only a matter of time before Hollywood comes knocking. That's the path Sabrina Carpenter seems to be on after dominating the music scene and becoming a full-blown celebrity, she's now reportedly being lined up for a role in the next "Mamma Mia!" film. Yes, the "Espresso" singer is said to be 'sought for a role' in the third "Mamma Mia!" movie, which has been in the rumour mill for years. And now, thanks to a fresh update from long-time franchise producer Judy Craymer, it looks like the film might finally be taking shape. In a recent interview with "Deadline", Craymer confirmed that "Mamma Mia 3" is 'well into development,' adding, 'We know what we want to do with the movie, and it will happen.' This could actually work. Carpenter has the range (vocally and dramatically), a confident screen presence, and a look that fits right into the sparkly, sun-drenched world of "Mamma Mia!". Sabrina Carpenter is being eyed for a role in 'Mamma Mia! 3.' (via DEADLINE) — Pop Base (@PopBase) May 28, 2025 With acting experience already under her belt and her current pop princess status, she's more than ready to slip into a pair of platform boots and sing her heart out in Greece. This isn't the first mention of Carpenter as a potential cast member. In 2024, Amanda Seyfried told "ABC News" that 'if Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I'll make it happen.' Craymer's been dropping hints about a third film for some time now. In 2020, she told the "Daily Mail", 'I think, one day, there will be another film, because there's meant to be a trilogy, you see.' She also confirmed that Universal Pictures was interested, though nothing concrete followed at the time. The first "Mamma Mia!" film introduced us to Donna (played by Streep) and her daughter Sophie (Seyfried), who lives on a Greek island and invites three of her mother's old flames to her wedding in the hope of discovering who her father is. Cue chaos, charm, and a full ABBA soundtrack.

BLACKPINK Announces 'DEADLINE' Asia Tour Dates; Malaysia Not Included?

Things have not been looking so good for YG Entertainment lately. The agency has received a great deal of negative feedback from fans since February this year, after teasing that BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) would be going on tour despite no announcement of a comeback album. The criticism intensified after Yang Hyunsuk (양현석), Executive Producer of YG Entertainment, shared more details about the group's comeback plans, though no specific dates were given. Although ticket sales for the US and UK dates have been strong, fans have still expressed concerns and scepticism about the success of the tour, as BLACKPINK has less than a month to prepare. The dates for the Asian stops were announced today (Tuesday, 27th May), and sadly for Malaysian fans, it appears that we will not be seeing the girls this time around. YG Entertainment officially announced the dates for the 'BLACKPINK: DEADLINE Tour' across Asia, with Taiwan as the first stop. However, as seen in the photo above, Malaysia is nowhere to be found. Instead, the group will be heading to neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand for this upcoming tour. The announcement also stated that they would be performing for two or three days for each stop during the Asia leg of the tour. Shortly after the new tour dates were posted, Malaysian fans were left disappointed that BLACKPINK would be skipping Kuala Lumpur this year, especially as the group performed here back-to-back during their 'IN YOUR AREA' and 'WORLD PINK' tours. Many lamented that Malaysia was not included in the upcoming 'DEADLINE' tour, while others speculated that this was likely because the venues at other stops were large indoor stadiums, whereas Malaysia only has outdoor stadiums that could accommodate the targeted capacity. Some also suggested that there could be internal conflicts between YG Entertainment and local concert organisers, which might explain why the K-pop idols are skipping Malaysia. It is worth considering the possibility that more dates will be announced later and that our country could be included as a stop next year, if the tour is extended into 2026. What do you think? Will we see BLACKPINK perform in KL again for the DEADLINE tour? Sources: Instagram (1)(2)

Is BLACKPINK releasing new music in September? DEADLINE world tour schedule sparks hopeful fan speculations

Get ready, BLACKPINK fans! The K-pop sensation just revealed the dates and venues for their highly anticipated DEADLINE world tour, starting on July 5 and wrapping up on January 25. However, fans have noticed a peculiar pattern in the tour schedule - there's a full month gap between concert dates towards the end of the year. This has sparked speculation among fans, who believe it might be a deliberate move to accommodate new music releases or even an album drop. According to the YG Entertainment -unveiled DEADLINE world tour schedule, BLACKPINK will be performing in Paris, Milan, Barcelona and London in August 2025. Their next show is in Jakarta, Indonesia, however, it's in October. September has been kept free for the girl group members to rest before they head to the second half of the tour. Regarding the break, fans are buzzing with theories that it's not just a regular hiatus, but a strategic pause for a full-group musical comeback. Will BLACKPINK release a new album in September 2025? Fans are eagerly hoping that BLACKPINK will use the one-month gap to unveil fresh content, making the tour an even more unforgettable experience. BLACKPINK is expected to release a new album in June 2025, according to reports. This will be their first group release since BORN PINK in 2022. Recently, Yang Hyun Suk, founder and executive producer of YG Entertainment shared that new songs are on the horizon for the group, however the release dates haven't been finalized yet. Fans theories say that June will mark the pre-release of the album, followed by the first part of the DEADLINE tour. The girl group will then release the full-group album in September. Notably, there is another one-month gap between their November 2025 and January 2026 shows. If the album indeed gets released in September, the month of December can be used for additional activities or further planning regarding the album's promotion. Even though the musical comeback is uncertain, one thing is clear– BLACKPINK is set to electrify fans worldwide with high-octane live performances of their iconic songs, commanding an insane stage presence.
