Chhattisgarh government school teachers fail to spell 'eleven' in class. Watch video
A shocking video showing teachers at a government school in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district struggling to spell basic words like 'eleven,' 'eighteen,' and 'nineteen' has gone viral on social video has cast a harsh spotlight on the crumbling state of primary education in Ghodasot village, under Gram Panchayat Madwa. The school staff, including two teachers and the headmaster, were seen fumbling with even the most elementary questions. When children were asked who the Prime Minister or Chief Minister is, silence followed. But it was the teachers' inability to answer these questions - or correctly write simple English spellings - that truly laid bare the was even more alarming is the fact that the teachers also failed to name the district collector or the superintendent of police when asked. Ironically, Balrampur is not some remote hinterland but a district where multiple government schemes, teacher appointments, and education budgets are in force - at least on paper. Even more troubling is the alleged response of the local administration. Reports suggest that the District Education Officer (DEO) issued verbal instructions to bar journalists from entering school contacted, the DEO said an enquiry would be initiated and action taken accordingly.- EndsMust Watch

No pressure on teachers to adopt P4 families, says Eluru DEO
District Educational Officer (DEO) M. Venkatalakshmamma on Monday clarified that no teacher in Eluru district is being pressured to adopt 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' (Golden families) identified under the P4 (People–Public–Private–Partnership) initiative. In a statement issued here on Monday (July 28, 2025), the DEO said that the District Collector has not issued any orders directing Mandal-level authorities to register 190 headmasters or school assistants as mentors under the initiative. She emphasised that enrolment as a mentor in the P4 initiative is purely voluntary. Reacting to certain allegations, the DEO said that any teacher interested in serving as a guide under the programme is free to register themselves. However, there is no directive making it mandatory. She pointed out that the District Collector is against assigning non-teaching duties to teachers and said that making baseless claims that teachers are being forced to adopt families under P4 is inappropriate and misleading.

After student's suicide, govt set to launch special psychological campaign in 1,800 Ahmedabad schools
In the wake of a recent case wherein a Class 10 student of a private school in Ahmedabad died by suicide, the district education authorities have decided to launch a special counselling campaign covering over five lakh students of all the 1,800 private schools in the city starting next Saturday. Ahmedabad City District Education Officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhary told The Indian Express, 'The incident came as a shock to everyone and was an eye-opener. It has been decided that 1,800 schools will be covered under Project Sarthi starting this (next) Saturday. To commence with, we will train two teachers as counsellors in each school through an online session, who will in turn provide counselling services to the students.' Project Sarthi was launched in Ahmedabad school last year which covers around 200 schools at present. The campaign, run by non-profit organisation Namaste Life Health Care Foundation covers five issues — nutritional and healthy diet, coping with stress and exam anxiety, emotional resilience and self-confidence, awareness against mobile, social media addiction and other addictions, awareness and prevention of harassment. A Class 12 student, who studied in Som Lalit School in Navrangpura also died by suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the school building this week. School authorities stated that the student was allegedly suffering from depression owing to which, she had also remained on leave for a month. Sharing more information about the campaign, the DEO said, 'As part of the intensive exercise for the 1,800 schools, online monthly sessions will start from August 2 where principals, teachers, and parents associated with the schools will be covered. Once a week, through an online guidance programme, physical and mental health will be reviewed through different psychologists, sociologists, dieticians, paediatricians, and yoga experts, and efforts will be made to make them strong. Also, students will be encouraged to share any kind of problems or issues they are facing, but will be assured that their identities would not be disclosed.' The authorities are also targeting to address issues, including stress caused by suppressed emotions, peer pressure on the students related to addictions of drugs, alcohol, mobiles in the circle of friends. Teachers of these schools will be trained so that they can identify students (who need help) and will be made aware about their roles. The DEO office also aims to have one expert-led, guided wellness session every month in all the 1,800 schools in the city, with parents and community leaders also being active participants of the same. At present, nearly 500 principals and teachers have been trained under the programme. Other initiatives include keeping a 'box' in some schools where students can drop psychological or other issues with the school counsellors.

Teachers protest over pending salaries after transfers
Rajamahendravaram: A strong protest broke out on Saturday evening in front of the District Education Officer's (DEO) office, led by the United Teachers Federation (UTF), demanding immediate payment of salaries to teachers who were transferred two months ago but have not yet been paid. A large number of affected teachers participated in the protest, expressing anger over the government's inaction. UTF East Godavari district president P Jayakar and general secretary A Shareef led the agitation, raising slogans against the administration. Speaking at the protest, UTF state secretary N Aruna Kumari questioned why cabinet approval was necessary to release salaries for teachers already transferred to new locations. Jayakar and Shareef criticised the imposition of non-teaching duties on teachers under the P4 programme, calling it unjust. The protest continued for two hours, with teachers demanding immediate disbursement of salaries. They warned that the agitation would continue until their issues were resolved. District UTF vice president Vijay Gowri, treasurer USR Prasad, secretaries Sreemani, Ramesh Dayanidhi, M. Srinivas, Prakash Rao, and state committee member Rupas Rao also took part in the demonstration. A representation was submitted to the DEO staff outlining their demands.
