With a 42% stake, ADF Group Inc. (TSE:DRX) insiders have a lot riding on the company
Insiders appear to have a vested interest in ADF Group's growth, as seen by their sizeable ownership The top 4 shareholders own 56% of the company Ownership research, combined with past performance data can help provide a good understanding of opportunities in a stock We've found 21 US stocks that are forecast to pay a dividend yield of over 6% next year. See the full list for free. A look at the shareholders of ADF Group Inc. (TSE:DRX) can tell us which group is most powerful. The group holding the most number of shares in the company, around 42% to be precise, is individual insiders. In other words, the group stands to gain the most (or lose the most) from their investment into the company. So it follows, every decision made by insiders of ADF Group regarding the company's future would be crucial to them. Let's take a closer look to see what the different types of shareholders can tell us about ADF Group. See our latest analysis for ADF Group Many institutions measure their performance against an index that approximates the local market. So they usually pay more attention to companies that are included in major indices. Institutions have a very small stake in ADF Group. That indicates that the company is on the radar of some funds, but it isn't particularly popular with professional investors at the moment. If the business gets stronger from here, we could see a situation where more institutions are keen to buy. We sometimes see a rising share price when a few big institutions want to buy a certain stock at the same time. The history of earnings and revenue, which you can see below, could be helpful in considering if more institutional investors will want the stock. Of course, there are plenty of other factors to consider, too. Hedge funds don't have many shares in ADF Group. Because actions speak louder than words, we consider it a good sign when insiders own a significant stake in a company. In ADF Group's case, its President, Pierre Paschini, is the largest shareholder, holding 14% of shares outstanding. The second and third largest shareholders are Jean Paschini and Marise Paschini, with an equal amount of shares to their name at 14%. Note that two of the top three shareholders are also Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors, respectively, once again pointing to significant ownership by company insiders. After doing some more digging, we found that the top 4 shareholders control more than half of the company's shares which essentially means that there is concentrated ownership amongst the top shareholders, most of whom happen to be insiders! Researching institutional ownership is a good way to gauge and filter a stock's expected performance. The same can be achieved by studying analyst sentiments. There is a little analyst coverage of the stock, but not much. So there is room for it to gain more coverage. The definition of an insider can differ slightly between different countries, but members of the board of directors always count. The company management answer to the board and the latter should represent the interests of shareholders. Notably, sometimes top-level managers are on the board themselves. Insider ownership is positive when it signals leadership are thinking like the true owners of the company. However, high insider ownership can also give immense power to a small group within the company. This can be negative in some circumstances. It seems insiders own a significant proportion of ADF Group Inc.. Insiders own CA$92m worth of shares in the CA$217m company. This may suggest that the founders still own a lot of shares. You can click here to see if they have been buying or selling. The general public-- including retail investors -- own 34% stake in the company, and hence can't easily be ignored. This size of ownership, while considerable, may not be enough to change company policy if the decision is not in sync with other large shareholders. Our data indicates that Private Companies hold 20%, of the company's shares. Private companies may be related parties. Sometimes insiders have an interest in a public company through a holding in a private company, rather than in their own capacity as an individual. While it's hard to draw any broad stroke conclusions, it is worth noting as an area for further research. It's always worth thinking about the different groups who own shares in a company. But to understand ADF Group better, we need to consider many other factors. Consider risks, for instance. Every company has them, and we've spotted 1 warning sign for ADF Group you should know about. But ultimately it is the future, not the past, that will determine how well the owners of this business will do. Therefore we think it advisable to take a look at this free report showing whether analysts are predicting a brighter future.
