Wanted criminal gunned down in UP's Hapur district
Begusarai: A wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head and involved in more than two dozen cases of crime including murder, robbery and extortion, was gunned down in an encounter with police in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night.
Dablu Yadav was active in Sahebpurkamal area of Begusarai district.
Begusarai SP Manish said Ydav was killed during a joint operation of Bihar and UP police. "A joint team of special operations group of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh STF surrounded him near Baddha bridge in Hapur. First, he was asked to surrender. However, he started firing at the police team, but he was killed in a retaliatory firing," the SP said, adding a carbine, two pistols, a country-made pistol and 32 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from near his body.
Dablu had been on the local police's radar following the abduction and murder of HAM's Sahebpurkamal block president, Rakesh Kumar. On May 24, Dablu along with more than 12 of his associates abducted Rakesh from his house at Sandalpur village amid cover of firing, killed him and later buried his body under the soil of the Ganga in the neighbouring Munger district.
Local police had been on a lookout for him and even declared him an absconder on July 18. They earlier had arrested Dablu's wife Sita Devi, a sarpanch and even attached his property at Sandalpur village.
