Warmer temps Friday afternoon ahead of weekend storms
SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Friday, Utah! A weak disturbance is moving through on Friday, leading to mostly cloudy skies. Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine Friday afternoon. Moisture still lingering across the state could still produce a few pop-up showers across Utah. Temperatures will warm into the upper 60s across the Wasatch Front and low to mid-80s for SW Utah. Saturday will feature increasing clouds and breezy conditions as our next storm system approaches the state. This system will bring increasing chances for showers and rumbles, Saturday afternoon through Sunday and Monday, along with another round of cooler temperatures! Some areas may pick up between 1.00-2.00″ of rain across northern Utah through Tuesday! Upper-level wind energy could lead to a chance for an isolated strong to severe storm with wind gusts over 60 mph and small hail. This system will also bring dropping snow levels, so our mountains could be in line for some late-season snowfall this weekend. The best chances for this will be above 7,000-7500 FT, where several inches will be possible. The winds will be gusty out of the southwest on Saturday, especially across SE Utah where we have a Red Flag Warning in effect for Saturday afternoon. This means no outside burning across this area. Any fires that get going would likely spread quickly between the gusty winds and low humidity. Japanese retailer Daiso to open second Twin Cities store this weekend
If you missed Daiso's grand opening in Crystal last month, you'll soon have another opportunity to experience the frenzy surrounding the popular Japanese bargain store. Daiso will open its second Minnesota location Saturday, May 17 in Maplewood's Birch Run Station development. The grand opening fanfare heads to the east metro one month after the state's first Daiso opened in Crystal, with hundreds of shoppers lining up for opening weekend. Daiso shoppers can expect to find charts converting prices from the yen to the United States dollar, with a wide array of home decor, stationery, toys, snacks, accessories and other goods priced at less than five bucks. Similar to China-based MINISO, which opened its first Twin Cities store at Eden Prairie Center earlier this year, Daiso products are often made in collaboration with popular character brands such as Disney, Sanrio, Peanuts and Line Friends. At Burch Run Station, Daiso will celebrate its opening with an exclusive goodie bag for the first 100 customers to spend at least $30 on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. Doors open at 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Daiso's third Twin Cities store is expected to open sometime this summer in Woodbury at Woodbury Village.
