Dallas Goedert excited about being an Eagle in 2025, "not too worried" about the future

Tight end Dallas Goedert's return to the Eagles for the 2025 season remained up in the air until he agreed to a revised deal with the team earlier this month. Goedert agreed to a pay cut that guaranteed his $10 million salary and offers more money in incentives. On Wednesday, Goedert said 'there were definitely days that were filled with emotion' before the revised deal came together and that he's now trying to enjoy the moment rather than fret about what will happen when his deal is up at the end of the season. 'I'm really excited about this year,' Goedert said, via 'Obviously, I'd love to play my entire career in Philadelphia, but I'm not too worried about [the future]. I'm excited to see what happens this year. Excited to put up a really good year, have a successful year with an incredible team and let my agent handle his job and talks after the season. . . . I'm super stoked to be back here. Got a lot of love for a lot of people in this building. Got a lot of love for Philadelphia. So super glad to be back. And we've got high expectations and I want to help us get back to where we were last year.' Goedert missed time in the regular season last year due to injury, but returned to lead the team in receptions and receiving yards during their postseason run to a Super Bowl title. Goedert also performed well in the playoffs on the way to the NFC title in 2022 and another strong finish should help his chances of remaining in Philly for the long run.

Dallas Goedert details the winding road that led him to remain with the Eagles'

Dallas Goedert details the winding road that led him to remain with the Eagles' Dallas Goedert details the offseason journey that eventually led to him reworking his contract to stay in Philadelphia with the Eagles Well, he's back like he never left. That's because, well, he never left. Dallas Goedert had one foot out of the NovaCare Complex's front door for what seemed like an eternity, but the second never followed. In the end, he's still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles' roster, and no one is complaining. Fans love him. So do his coaches and teammates. There were some tough weeks and long days. The nights must have seemed longer than usual. No one can answer that but Goedert. Who can better detail what he was thinking than he? It's no one's story to tell but his. The usually open tight end recently sat with media members to share in detail what happened during the past few months during a contractual disagreement that eventually ended with the longtime Eagle staying home. Dallas Goedert shares his account of the contract dispute and his decision to stay in Philadelphia. Following the second day of Eagles OTAs, several players were made available to the media: Dallas Goedert, Jalyx Hunt, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell. No one was shocked when Dallas was asked about the details of his offseason. Let's be honest. It was going to be hard to imagine him in another jersey, right? Thankfully, he, his agent, and Howie Roseman worked things out, so we don't have to think about that, at least until his contract officially expires and everyone returns to the negotiating table next offseason. It's a challenging discussion to navigate. He's one of the best offensive talents on a roster that's stocked with them, but he's missed 15 combined games because of injury over the past three seasons. He also turns 31 in January, and he's expensive. Players typically don't get stronger, faster, and more durable as they continue to age, and Philadelphia must also begin thinking about paying some of their younger players. Dallas is choosing to focus on the coming season: 'I'm really excited about this year. Obviously, I'd love to play my entire career in Philadelphia, but I'm not too worried about (the future). I'm excited to see what happens this year. Excited to put up a really good year, have a successful year with an incredible team, and let my agent handle his job and talks after the season." Enough said. For now, that's good enough because, despite what has transpired over the past few months, the Eagles are certainly better with Dallas Goedert than they are without him.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Philadelphia Eagles went through a very busy offseason. They lost some key pieces from last year's Super Bowl run and were widely expected to trade another. Dallas Goedert was mentioned in trade rumors all offseason long. At one point, it seemed extremely likely that he would be on his way out of town. However, he's still on the roster with OTA's getting underway. It's a bit of a surprise, but Goedert has been an important piece for the offense over the years. Bringing him back always made sense if they could afford to do it. Now, the tight end is speaking out about his experience during the offseason. "Just kind of sat on the couch and stared at the TV blankly like, 'What's going to happen?' I've been (through) seven offseasons, and this is the first time I had to deal with it, so I'm pretty lucky. But it was an interesting feeling for sure." Not only did he share his feelings while the trade rumors swirled around him, he also spoke out with honesty about his contract situation. "I've been very blessed to sign a good contract here (in 2021)," he said. "I wouldn't want to play for less, you know what I mean? I feel like I know my value. I feel like the Eagles know my value. And just finding something that I was OK with, a number that I felt excited about, that my time was worth it. There's a threshold that I felt like I deserved. And we were able to get there." Last season, Goedert played in just 10 games. He caught 42 passes for 496 yards and two touchdowns. In 2023, he recorded 59 receptions for 592 yards and three scores. He'll be valuable for Jalen Hurts to have in 2025 as well. As the Eagles prepare to try and defend their championship from last season, having as many hands on deck as they can will be important. During the offseason, they lost pieces like defensive lineman Milton Williams, defensive end Josh Sweat, cornerback Darius Slay, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, and linebacker Oren Burks. Hopefully, Goedert can prove Philadelphia right for keeping him in town. It was a stressful offseason, but now it's time to get back to work.
