Sage unveils AI features to boost speed & sustainability in finance
Sage has announced a new range of AI-powered features for its Sage Intacct platform, intended to enhance the operations of finance teams through automation, embedded payment capabilities, and sustainability insights. The company's updates focus on automating key finance tasks, streamlining payment workflows, and delivering actionable sustainability data, aiming to address the growing need among finance leaders for greater speed, efficiency, and strategic value in their roles. AI-driven automation The newly introduced upgrades include AI-supported automation for the close process, enhanced accounts payable (AP) workflows, and sustainability monitoring capabilities. These features are designed to simplify operations, accelerate period closures, and provide finance professionals with more time to concentrate on higher-value activities. Recent research cited by Sage indicates strong demand among finance professionals for advanced tools. According to the research, 84% of surveyed finance leaders expressed a desire to close the books faster, while 87% called for more advanced AP automation to support their objectives. Dan Miller, EVP, Financials & ERP Division at Sage, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting finance teams with technology that delivers measurable time savings and operational clarity. "Finance teams are always looking to save time so they can invest in growth and their business's success while maintaining clarity and control," said Dan Miller, EVP, Financials & ERP Division, Sage. "We're delivering AI-powered automation in everyday finance tasks, helping leaders move with agility, reduce risk and operate with greater confidence." New feature breakdown The updates to Sage Intacct include several tools set for availability across various markets. In close management, the Subledger Reconciliation Assistant leverages Sage Copilot to monitor subledger and general ledger balances, flag discrepancies automatically, and provide detailed resolution pathways prior to final close. A dedicated Close Workspace offers customisable task templates, checklists, and real-time notifications from Copilot to keep end-of-period financial processes on track. For accounts payable and procurement teams, embedded vendor payments powered by MineralTree now allow customers to handle payments via a range of methods, including ACH, cheques, and virtual cards within the Sage Intacct interface. Additionally, an AI-powered line-level matching system automatically pairs invoice lines to purchase order lines, highlighting discrepancies and aiming to reduce manual reviews and approval bottlenecks. These AP automation tools are being extended to customers across regions and industries, with US customers gaining immediate access to eProcurement capabilities. Support features such as Copilot Search Help use natural language processing to answer product-related queries rapidly, a function available to users in English across the US, UK, Canada, South Africa, and Australia. Sustainability capabilities Sage has also embedded sustainability insights directly into its finance suite with the launch of Sage Earth Carbon Accounting. This tool provides UK customers with quick, no-setup carbon footprint estimates based on their industry and revenue information, aimed at supporting early-stage sustainability planning and helping organisations prepare for upcoming reporting requirements. Feedback from partners Sage's initiatives have been well received by implementation partners, who note tangible benefits to their customers resulting from the new automation capabilities. "Sage is always at the forefront of helping customers realise the value of automation and insight," said Scott Schimberg, Partner, Armanino. "By further automating reconciliation, payments, and procurement, Sage Intacct is helping them save time and make smarter decisions. It's the kind of innovation finance teams need to stay ahead." Industry context The enhancements come at a time when finance teams face mounting pressures from manual operations, fragmented systems, and the need to address environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements. Sage's recent global survey of more than 1,700 CFOs and finance leaders highlighted acceleration of closing processes and improved automation as top priorities amid these challenges. The company reports that the latest wave of updates to Sage Intacct is an extension of its broader High-Performance Finance strategy, aimed at giving finance leaders the integrated tools and insights required to eliminate inefficiencies, reinforce compliance, improve resilience, and support sustainable organisational growth.

Maps show where Wanda Williams lost support in Harrisburg mayor race as Dan Miller continues campaign
(WHTM) — After losing the Democratic primary for Harrisburg Mayor by just 80 votes, Harrisburg City Treasurer Dan Miller is betting the numbers are now in his favor. Miller, who stressed he has not switched party affiliation, announced Monday he will campaign on the Republican ticket after earning enough write-in votes for the nomination. 'The way I see it, it's really a run-off between the top two vote getters,' Miller said at his campaign launch. Close mayoral races seem to be a trend in Harrisburg, as Williams won the 2021 Democratic primary by just 46 votes. While she narrowed her margin of victory this year, she still earned just 35.3% of the vote in a crowded primary. Miller sees that deficit as proof voters want change; he mentioned it more than 20 times in his campaign announcement. Voter data shows change has already happened in Harrisburg. Williams lost only 62 votes between the 2021 primary and the 2025 primary, but where her votes came from differed. She bled votes in nearly all of the city's western and southern wards. Her biggest loss was in Midtown. Meanwhile, she gained voters in the city's east side, where she consolidated a lot of her support. Miller earned more votes in wards where Williams underperformed. It's a statistic he seemed very aware of when choosing to relaunch his campaign from Vernon Street Park in Allison Hill. He said a resident there felt current city leaders overlooked the neighborhood. 'I can't think of a better way to say to Allison Hill, 'I see you,'' Miller said. Janelle Stelson changes voter registration to Cumberland County At the announcement, he scoffed at a remark that he's the 'Midtown candidate,' noting he never lived or worked in the neighborhood. Still, voters there were five-times more likely to vote for him than Williams, numbers he hasn't replicated in parts of the city that most went to the incumbent mayor. 'But that doesn't really prohibit me from being a candidate for all of Harrisburg,' Miller said. 'And that's what I plan to be.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Will Dan Miller run for Harrisburg mayor on Republican ticket against Wanda Williams? Here's the latest
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — He's still unsure, but Dan Miller — Harrisburg's city treasurer, who came up short by about 80 votes in his May Democratic primary bid to unseat Mayor Wanda Williams — sounds increasingly like someone preparing to press forward with a head-to-head general election race against Williams. 'In a way, this is now a runoff election between the top two candidates,' Miller said Wednesday before the first of two organizing meetings this week at Historic Harrisburg in Midtown (the second is Thursday at 6 p.m. at the same location). 'I mean, she only won by 80 votes.' Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now That was in a five-way race. Miller got more than 100 write-in votes among Republicans, which qualified him to be the Republican nominee on November's general election ballot even though, as Miller is the first to say, 'I am not a Republican.' Although this might be just as well in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than a five-to-one margin, Miller won't count on any official Republican party support. 'I don't expect that the Republican committee would be engaged with the mayor's race in the city of Harrisburg,' Dave Feidt, chairman of the Dauphin County Republican Committee, said Wednesday. The question, though, is whether — although his name is due to appear on the ballot unless he withdraws from the race — Miller will continue actively pursuing the position. Miller reiterated Wednesday he hasn't made the decision, saying the point of this week's sessions is to gauge community support for his candidacy. But he didn't hesitate to articulate the arguments he would make to voters if he does press forward. 'This is an election about the status quo,' Miller said. 'Do you like having the market not completed? Do you like downtown really going downhill? Do you like $14 million of trash receipts not being collected?' Miller said he understands simply not being Williams is not enough to win an election. So what would he do about the still-gutted Broad Street Market? 'They have done nothing for basically two years now,' Miller said. 'If I were the mayor, that would be a top priority. Safe streets would be top priority, stable finances a top-priority, business opportunities.' Williams didn't respond Wednesday to messages from abc27 News seeking comment about Miller's potential continued run for mayor. Prior to the May primary, she cited an increasing supply of affordable housing as a key accomplishment during her first term. Miller acknowledged the uphill nature of a run on the Republican ticket in a deep-blue city. Blasting scheduled at former Harrisburg Mall; Here's when But nationally, there's some precedent for Republican victories in overwhelmingly Democratic cities: The most populous city of all, New York City, has elected Republicans over the decades — most recently Michael Bloomberg, who later switched his party affiliation, and Rudy Giuliani before him. And in terms of successful party-switching candidates, Roanoke, Virginia — similar in size to Harrisburg — elected former Mayor David Bowers as a Democrat for eight years beginning in 1992 and another eight years as an independent beginning in 2008. Then, Bowers narrowly missed completing a trifecta and winning as a Republican, when he lost in 2024 by just 59 votes. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
