Rihanna debuts at No. 1 with 'Friend of Mine' on Billboard's Dance Digital Song Sales chart, beating DJ Snake and Avicii

Rihanna has returned and how! The queen of pop is back on the top of the charts, as her latest release 'Friend of Mine' debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Digital Song Sales chart this week. The track has become the top-selling dance song in the United States, as measured by Billboard. This marks a significant moment in Rihanna's career, as it is her third time reaching the summit of this specific chart. Her last No. 1 came back in 2016 with 'This Is What You Came For,' a collaboration with Calvin Harris. Before that, she first claimed the top spot in June 2012 with 'Where Have You Been.' 'Friend of Mine' is one of seven new entries on the 15-song chart this week. Despite strong competition from well-known artists including DJ Snake, Kesha, and the late Avicii, Rihanna secured the top spot. Avicii, who passed away in 2018, makes a posthumous appearance with 'Let's Ride Away,' a new collaboration with Elle King. In total, Rihanna has now earned 11 appearances on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. Impressively, ten of those entries have reached the top 10. Two of her well-known tracks, 'We Found Love' (also with Calvin Harris) and 'Who's That Chick?' with David Guetta, both peaked at No. 2, narrowly missing out on the No. 1 position. This new chart-topping success further cements Rihanna's enduring popularity in the dance music space. While fans continue to hope for a full studio album, 'Friend of Mine' serves as a reminder of her ability to dominate the charts with fresh, energetic releases.

Rihanna Lands Her First New No. 1 In Almost A Decade

Rihanna's 'A Friend of Mine' launches at No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Digital Song Sales chart, ... More earning the singer her third champion and first in almost a decade. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 26: Rihanna attends her immersive beauty event in honor of Fenty Beauty's newest product launch, Soft'lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation at 7th Street Studios on April 26, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by) Rihanna releases music so infrequently that a huge debut is typically expected whenever she does give the world something new. Sadly, that's not quite what came to pass with 'Friend of Mine,' her first single in several years. The tune, taken from the upcoming Smurfs animated movie, does manage to conquer one important Billboard ranking as it arrives — and in doing so, it adds to her list of champions, which hasn't increased in almost a decade. 'Friend of Mine' launches atop the Dance Digital Song Sales chart this week, which means it is the top-selling track in America currently classified by Billboard specifically as dance. The tune is one of seven new arrivals on the 15-spot roster, and Rihanna manages to beat out exciting drops from stars in the genre like DJ Snake, Kesha, and even Avicii, who posthumously returns with his new collaboration 'Let's Ride Away' with Elle King. Rihanna scores her third No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales ranking as 'Friend of Mine' arrives. The tune marks her first new leader since 'This Is What You Came For' with Calvin Harris, which debuted in first place in May 2016. She first ruled in June 2012 with 'Where Have You Been.' Throughout her career, Rihanna has collected a total of 11 placements on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, and all but one of those have reached the top 10. She missed out on adding to her expanding roster of champions by just one space with both 'We Found Love' — another collaboration with Harris — and 'Who's That Chick?' alongside David Guetta, as both tunes stalled at No. 2. 'Friend of Mine' is a quick top 10 on a number of Billboard's dance-only tallies. As it leads the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, it enters the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs tally at No. 3, earning Rihanna her first career placement on that list. The cut also kicks off its time on the Dance Streaming Songs tally at No. 6. Rihanna also manages to hit No. 1 on one other Billboard list, but 'Friend of Mine' doesn't enjoy quite as much of a celebration on that tally as it does on the Dance Digital Song Sales roster. The catchy cut appears in first place on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, meaning it misses landing on the Hot 100 — the main ranking of the most consumed tracks in America — by just one space. So, while it technically sits at No. 1, that's not really a major accomplishment for her.

Bon Jovi Earns A Brand New Top 10 Hit Single

Bon Jovi's latest single 'Now or Never' has turned out to be something of a surprise hit. Throughout 2025, the collaboration – powered by Pitbull and built around a familiar Bon Jovi hook—has spent months climbing various Billboard charts, dipping here and there but always finding a way to rebound, at least so far. Just when it looked like the collaboration might be on its way out, it pulls off an unexpected feat: a brand new peak on a particularly competitive list. 'Now or Never' hits a new high on the Hot Dance/Electronic/Pop Songs chart. The genre-blending cut lifts from No. 13 to No. 9, becoming a top 10 hit for the very first time on Billboard's recently-introduced tally that ranks the most popular tunes that combine pop with dance and electronic elements. The rise of 'Now or Never' marks a career milestone for both of the stars involved. The track is now the first top 10 hit for Bon Jovi and Pitbull on the Hot Dance/Electronic/Pop Songs chart. That's not really surprising, though, since the list is only a few months old. Just one week ago, 'Now or Never' returned to the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart after falling off entirely. The cut re-entered at No. 13, narrowly finding space on the 15-spot roster. Before that, it had climbed as high as No. 11, and more than once. While its most exciting placement this frame is its new top 10 finish on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs list, 'Now or Never' is also performing well on several other Billboard charts. The tune holds steady at No. 12 on the Adult Pop Airplay tally, just one spot shy of its peak on that radio-focused roster. Elsewhere, the title's experience is something of a mixed bag. The track slips to No. 13 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart and falls to No. 30 on the Pop Airplay list. 'Now or Never' is part of a recent trend by Pitbull, who's been crafting modern EDM-laced anthems using nostalgic melodies from earlier hits. For this cut, he borrows the chorus of 'It's My Life,' one of Bon Jovi's most recognizable tunes, and transforms it into something new. The end result is a high-energy, club-ready single that repackages a rock staple for a different generation of listeners, and it's resonating with Americans.

Selena Gomez's New Top 10 Smash Marks New Territory For Her

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco debut 'Bluest Flame' as a top five hit on three Billboard dance ... More charts, while their joint album starts strong across the board. (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images) Selena Gomez has charted dozens of hits and released multiple bestselling albums throughout her long and successful music career. For her latest project, she tried something new: she brought her partner Benny Blanco into the studio with her for a special release. The couple's joint full-length I Said I Love You First arrives this week on the Billboard rankings, and it opens in lofty positions across the board. While the album hasn't spun off a runaway smash just yet, several of the tracks featured on the effort manage to debut on important tallies — and one, in particular, helps the pair reach new territory. 'Bluest Flame' is just one of half a dozen tracks from I Said I Love You First that appear on the charts this week in America. Billboard has categorized the track as a dance tune, and that genre classification helps it reach multiple rosters connected specifically to that style of music. The track – so far not a single – opens inside the top five on three separate tallies: Dance Digital Song Sales, Dance Streaming Songs, and the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts. But perhaps its most notable placement comes on a recently-introduced list that combines elements of both pop and dance. Billboard only launched the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart a few months ago. The ranking focuses on the most popular tunes that blend pop hooks with danceable beats — but only by artists not typically labeled as electronic acts. Sales, streaming data, and radio play are all used to determine a title's placement. This week, 'Bluest Flame' arrives at No. 4 on the chart. It's the only debut on the tally this frame. The single is an initial win for both Gomez and Blanco as it becomes a full-fledged smash. Outside of the new hybrid chart, 'Bluest Flame' is also enjoying a warm welcome elsewhere in the dance world. The track starts at No. 4 on the Dance Streaming Songs list and slightly outperforms that slot on the Dance Digital Song Sales ranking, where it opens at No. 3. Those positions earn it the honor of being the top debut on both of those rankings this time around. While this is a brand new win for both stars on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, Gomez has already landed on the dance-specific rankings multiple times. 'Bluest Flame' marks her sixth top 10 hit on the Dance Streaming Songs list and her seventh appearance inside that space on the Dance Digital Song Sales tally. Every of her entries on the two rosters has made it into the uppermost region, so she keeps her perfect track record with her latest win. As for the album that houses 'Bluest Flame,' it too launches in a big way. I Said I Love You First opens at No. 1 on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts, showing that fans were eager to own a physical copy – not something every artist can claim these days. On the Billboard 200, the all-genre albums chart, it nearly reaches the summit, but instead opens at No. 2, narrowly missing a first place debut. The set also appears at No. 6 on the Top Streaming Albums tally, demonstrating the fact that it's a hit across all formats.

Lady Gaga Trades One No. 1 Hit For Another

Lady Gaga's 'Abracadabra' returns to No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, replacing her own ... More 'Vanish Into You' and continuing her Mayhem-era dominance. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 03: Lady Gaga performs onstage during the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 03, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo byfor The Recording Academy) Lady Gaga is in complete control of one Billboard chart this week – just as was the case last frame. The pop superstar replaces herself at No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, a fairly uncommon move that shows just how popular she still is in the genre, even well after a decade has passed since she first made noise in that space. Last frame, Gaga debuted a brand new cut in the top spot. This week, that track slides to make room for another from her catalog, one that's already proved itself to be a fan favorite. This week, Gaga's 'Abracadabra' bolts from No. 4 to No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. The track originally ruled the ranking earlier this year, and now it's back on top. 'Abracadabra' is the latest official single from Mayhem, Gaga's current full-length. The tune has spent five out of its seven weeks on the chart in first place, and it may very well add to that figure in the coming frames. Just last week, Gaga launched 'Vanish Into You' at No. 1 on the same tally. The tune was an instant bestseller, even though it hasn't been promoted as a single from Mayhem. Instead, fans simply gravitated toward the track and purchased it in large enough numbers to send it to the top. Before 'Vanish Into You' arrived, 'Abracadabra' was already ruling the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. It had just scored its fourth week in the top spot, when the singer-songwriter traded one champion for another. Over the course of her career, Gaga has collected eight No. 1 hits on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. That total includes both 'Vanish Into You' and 'Abracadabra,' which are now the top performers from Mayhem on this list. Interestingly, 'Disease,' the project's lead single, never managed to appear on the ranking in any capacity. Gaga's previous leaders on the tally include 'Stupid Love,' 'Judas,' 'Applause,' 'Rain On Me' with Ariana Grande, 'Telephone' with Beyoncé, and her iconic smash 'Bad Romance.' Last week was especially busy for Gaga on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart. In addition to 'Vanish Into You' opening at No. 1, she filled half of the entire top 10. That showing included five debuts: 'Shadow of a Man' landed at No. 3, 'Garden of Eden' at No. 6, her collaboration 'Killah' with Gesaffelstein at No. 8 and 'Love Drug' started at No. 9.
