Cheryl Burke defiantly addresses scrutiny over her physical transformation

Cheryl Burke wants to change the conversation about her appearance. The Dancing With The Stars pro, 41, opened up about the scrutiny she has been facing over her physical transformation in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. While she is aware she 'signed up' for the attention by virtue of being famous, she still feels gaslit when when hit with comments about her physical appearance and would prefer to focus on all the work she has done from herself 'from the inside out.' She told the outlet: 'Let's talk about mental health, let's talk about like what I've done as far as the last few years when I haven't been in the spotlight but I have done so much work on myself from the inside out. 'And for me, you know, I'm proud of that work and I wish the conversation would be more towards and geared towards that instead of "She is on Ozempic, she got a whole face lift and everything about her has changed"... gaslighting. 'If I were to say it doesn't affect me, I'd be lying. But does it affect me as bad as it did when I was on the show? Not even close!... I know I've signed up for it, I understand, I'm a public figure, I'm not trying to stop anything from happening. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'But I just am here to hopefully influence anyone who is in a similar position as me or who can relate, especially young women, that, you know, there is more depth to a human being than their outside physical appearance.' Cheryl - who was married to Boy Meets World star Matthew Lawrence from 2019 until 2022 - has suffered from body dysmoprhia for most of her life, and admitted that it reached its peak when she had to undergo regular fittings during her time on the ABC dance competition and she became obsessed with her weight. She said: 'I do suffer from body dysmorphia... especially as a dancer in front of mirrors. Constantly. Since I was a little girl, and this was even before my Dancing with the Stars career. 'My weight has always been an issue but I think what people sometimes don't understand is it is a lot of work, it takes a lot of work, it takes a lot of self-care... In the height of my insecurity and my body dysphoria was weekly fittings on the show. 'And I don't blame the show by any means; but it's just the name of the game... squeezing into these costumes, and it is what it is. But it would affect me to the point where I would weigh myself constantly. I would travel with a scale. That's crazy, that is definitely on a whole other level and I knew this could no longer continue. The number would affect my every day, just would dictate how I feel.' She attributed her weight loss to the food program Zen and shifting her eating habits. Her interview comes after Cheryl slammed social media critics commenting about her appearance. The Dancing With The Stars professional dancer took to her TikTok page last week to dispel rumors that she was using weight-loss drug Ozempic. 'Let's just address the elephant in the comment section. I'm not on Ozempic. I'm not sick. I didn't get a face transplant, and no, I didn't get a brow lift,' she said in the TikTok video as she took her makeup off. 'The level of projection that is happening and that I'm witnessing is wild,' the star said, referring to the countless comments fans have left under her videos regarding her changed appearance. 'This is not Cheryl Burke,' one person wrote under her previous video, which featured the star dancing, while another said: 'GLP1 Final Boss' and someone else said 'Ozempic Cheryl.' The way some of you guys talk about me, it's like you think I'm a headline or a filter, not a person. But what really gets me, "We miss the old Cheryl."' 'Suite Life of Zack and Cody Cheryl. Back in 2006, Dancing With The Stars season two when I was 21 years old. Or the three years ago Cheryl when I was going through a divorce. Because I hate to break it to you, but that Cheryl doesn't exist anymore,' she said as she wiped off her makeup. Adding: 'The assumptions are just exhausting as hell. The accusations are completely cruel and the fact that so many of them are coming from women - that's what's so shocking and hurtful to be quite honest.' Cheryl went on to say in the TikTok: 'I have been in the public eye since I was 21 years old. My body has changed over the past 20 years. My face has changed because I have changed. I've experienced so much trauma, divorce and this is by no means a pity party, sobriety, burn out, reinvention, I've healed, I've lost, I've grieved like anybody else and yeah, maybe it shows but I'm not sorry for it, not one bit.' 'Do you want to know what's really changed? My passion, my purpose, my commitment to using this platform for something real. But what's been so challenging honestly lately is this pressure to prove that I haven't done something. To convince people that honestly my healing is valid, simply because it doesn't come with a before and after label they approve of,' she said. 'I'm still the same person that advocated for mental health and body image for years' noting that she does it different now,' adding that 'this is me at 41. I'm still healing, still growing and still choosing to show up.' The star noted that if 'you're here to speculate, compare, or demand answers that you're not entitled to, you're not welcome' in her space that she created. She added the caption: 'I'm not on Ozempic. I'm not sick. I didn't get "a new face." Stop dissecting women's bodies like they belong to you. This is YOUR reminder: I don't owe you an explanation for my healing or for anything quite frankly. Let this be the last time I have to say it,' adding hashtags: '#stopbodyshaming #realtalk #mentalhealthawareness.' Cheryl got a divorce from actor Matthew Lawrence in 2022 after they were married for three years. He went on to date TLC singer Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas. Cheryl became a household name on Dancing With The Stars, which she appeared in for 26 seasons until her retirement from the show in 2022.

Is Dancing With the Stars Rigged? Producer Speaks Out

Dancing With The Stars is about to debut its 34th season on ABC and apparently the show is pulling in bigger audiences than ever—and battling rumors that it's rigged. Executive producer Ryan O'Dowd just sat down for an interview with Deadline, who wasted no time asking about the "small contingent of fans who accuse the show of being fixed." "We take that very seriously," Ryan said. "We have never, nor would we ever do anything to manipulate the votes. The show really needs to be credible. It needs to allow the viewers to have a voice and to really be the voice of who deserves to win. So we have never nor would we ever want to manipulate that in any way." Ryan was also asked about the possibility of doing a live show for the West Coast and East Coast, and shut that down pretty fast. "Many years ago, I worked on a singing show called Rising Star for ABC, and it became unbelievably challenging to produce," he said. "We would essentially have the live show for the east coast and central viewers and then we would stay and produce another live result. There was a West coast save element to that format and the juice wasn't worth squeeze, to be honest. I think we are always looking for ways in which we can include the west coast in a more meaningful way. It's just proven to be very difficult." Noted!

Taylor Swift fans convinced she could appear on Dancing With The Stars as pro drops major hint

There have been rumors circulating about Taylor Swift and Dancing With the Stars for years. And this year, they've hit a fever pitch as the dance pros prepare for season 34 of the popular dancing competition on ABC. Last year, the show had A Celebration of Taylor Swift, in which all of the contestants performed dances to her hit songs. And now DWTS pro Jenna Johnson has revealed another way that Swift, 35, could be involved in the upcoming season. While appearing on the Call It What It Is podcast this week, Johnson said that she would 'love' to get a football player for a partner this go around. And she has one particular football player in mind that could easily draw Taylor to the ballroom to cheer him on: Jason Kelce, 37, who is her boyfriend Travis Kelce 's, 35, older brother. There have been rumors circulating about Taylor Swift and Dancing With the Stars for years. Seen here at the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025 Traditionally, football players have done very well on the show with Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, Rashad Jennings and Donald Driver all taking home the mirrorball trophy, while six other NFL players have finished in second or third place. 'I have not had a football player, and I think that they're just so incredible on the show,' Johnson said. 'They understand that work ethic and the time and effort that goes into being great. So I think they always do really well on the show. 'I haven't had one of those yet. Jason Kelce, I just keep throwing his name out because I think he would be so fun.' Twenty-four football players have competed 25 times on DWTS – Emmit was on the show twice. But Jenna is gunning for Kelce as her partner for the upcoming 34th season of Dancing With the Stars. 'I just think he has the vibe where he doesn't take things too seriously. I think he would be down to rip off his shirt,' she added with a laugh. 'I would just be down for a really fun person who is just down for the experience. It's ballroom dancing, it's not that serious at the end of the day, so I think he would have such great energy.' Jason previously expressed interest in being on Dancing With the Stars in 2024 following his retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Swift is showing her commitment to boyfriend Travis and their future with a significant move. The singer is staying in Florida with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end as he trains for the upcoming NFL season in order to show her 'support,' following the team's devastating Super Bowl loss last February. The Karma hitmaker is in Miami to 'support and spend time' with the athlete according to a source who spoke with People. 'Travis still seems very happy with Taylor,' the source added of the pair, following reports that he blamed the public attention from their relationship for poorly impacting his NFL performance last season. The duo, who have been dating since 2023, were recently seen enjoying a date at Harry's Bar & Restaurant in West Palm Beach on Friday, a short drive from Kelce's lavish new $20 million waterside mansion in Boca Raton. The singer is staying in Florida with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end as he trains for the upcoming NFL season in order to show her 'support,' following the team's devastating Super Bowl loss last February; the couple seen in 2024 'Travis was working on Friday before his dinner date with Taylor,' the insider shared. 'He left early to go meet her.' The news of Taylor's decision to remain in Miami comes after the star opted to skip the American Music Awards in Las Vegas on Monday, despite being nominated in six categories and winning none. Taylor's support for Kelce's upcoming season will certainly be crucial for him, as the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 season concluded with a tough 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 this past February. In April, it was reported that Travis believed his newfound fame from dating Taylor caused a dip in his NFL form last season.

Making sure that I have what I need to maybe keep up with him. I'm not certain it's all going to come together, but we're going to try.' Now Nancy has been cast in a new stage production about friendship, People reported on Thursday. What was Love Island's Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart infamous coffee row?

Love Island is 10 this summer, and after a decade of romance, drama and jaw-dropping scenes from the villa, some moments live in the memory longer than others. One of the ITV reality show's most famous showdowns was between series five's Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart, who got into a bitter row about coffee being more important than cuddles which eventually led to their break-up. Here's what went down between the pair at the 2019 Love Island villa. Pritchard was already a minor celebrity when he arrived at the villa as one of the pro cast of Ireland's Dancing with the Stars, and the brother of Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Pritchard. Hart, an air hostess, made her show debut alongside Pritchard on day one, and by day two the latter had chosen her to form a couple with. While things ticked along between them into week six, it started to become obvious to viewers and Islanders that Hart was more into the relationship than Pritchard was. But the catalyst for the coffee row came a few days before their heated discussion, when Pritchard was sent off to Casa Amor and had his head turned by bombshell Jourdan Mainoo-Hames. Although he and Hart chose to stay together following the Casa Amor week, the cracks were beginning to show... Hart and Pritchard's break-up chat found a place in Love Island history ahead of the many other splits the show has seen because it became oddly focussed on coffee. As Hart tried to get to the bottom of why Pritchard didn't want to spend quality time together, the ballroom dancer became visibly riled as he blamed his lack of affection on it being so important for him to make coffee for all of the other Islanders each morning. Hart told him: "I don't think you actually ever genuinely liked me at all. For example, Tommy (Fury) and Molly (Mae Hague) sat up all night chatting in bed. You literally give me a quick kiss, turn over and go to sleep. "In the morning, if someone likes you they want to have a cuddle in bed with you in the morning." A clearly annoyed Pritchard replied through gritted teeth: "I know, and I also want to be the person who gets up and makes everyone a coffee so everyone is ready for the morning." Pritchard's strong feelings about making coffee left viewers baffled and is still the moment from his time in Love Island that people most want to talk to him about even six years on. Hart added: "I feel like I was an acceptably average placeholder until you found someone better. You did and then she coupled up with (someone else) so you came back to your back-up plan. I was your back-up plan." Of course, the argument became about much more than who was getting their morning coffee as Hart grilled Pritchard over sharing a kiss with a Casa Amor bombshell behind her back. Fans of the dating show had called red flags on Pritchard's behaviour towards Hart previously when he had asked her to be exclusive but said he wasn't ready for a boyfriend-girlfriend label yet, asking her to be his "half-girlfriend". She brought up the term again as she said: "We're supposed to be exclusive, we're supposed to be this fabled 'half-boyfriend-half-girlfriend' which now makes me feel like an utter t**t. And you're having meaningful snogs with other girls when I'm not here? How is that ok, how is that acceptable? For me, absence made the heart grow fonder. For you, it was out of sight, out of mind." "Even if you think with your head that you like me, you clearly don't," she added. "And that breaks my heart, that breaks my heart." Pritchard apologised but told her: "I can't promise you this won't happen again, and I don't want to hurt you how I've ever hurt you, so..." She shot back: "How can you go from saying you want a future with me to now saying you don't want to be with me? You're a liar, you're a compulsive liar," before storming off. The Casa Amor incident wasn't the only time Pritchard's attention was taken by another Islander - he eventually left Hart for Maura Higgins. Hart chose to leave the show on day 37 after her split from Pritchard. Reality TV stardom beckoned for Pritchard after his first Love Island appearance and he went on to take part in 2023's Love Island Games, as well as Love Island: All Stars in January 2025. Asked about his coffee comments ahead of his All Stars appearance, Pritchard admitted: "It follows me everywhere! In hindsight, if I do find a girl this time, I will perhaps cuddle her in bed rather than make coffee… So Amy taught me a lesson." The pair came face-to-face in the villa again in 2025 as Hart got a podcast presenting gig for All Stars, which meant she had to host Pritchard and partner Ekin-Su Culculoglu's exit interview. But Hart, who is now married and a mum-of-one, told The Sun: "He was my easiest interview because I know him so well, I know how hard I can push him, I know how hard I can wind him up. "Everyone wants us to not like each other. The fact we do get on really well makes it so easy." Pritchard's love life hasn't seen him settle down like Hart yet – he and Higgins finished Love Island 2019 in fourth place, but split within a year amid accusations of betrayals and cheating. Higgins also had to interview her ex on TV as he left Love Island Games where she asked him about getting to know other contestants whilst partnered up and awkwardly called out: "He still has no balls, guys!" He and Culculoglu finished All Stars in third place, but on 28 May, 2025 Culculoglu shared with her Instagram followers that they had split just three months after the show wrapped. Pritchard later confirmed the news in his own social media post, writing: "It's true, Ekin and I have decided to go our separate ways. Breakups are never easy, but l'll always be grateful for the laughs, the adventures, and the memories (especially the dance routines)." Love Island: A Decade of Love airs on ITV2 at 9pm on Sunday, 1 June. Love Island is set to return to ITV2 in June.
