Daniela, now 57, was beloved as Anna on the smash-hit series, which launched in 1996 and followed a group of five friends as they navigated their twenties after graduating law school. The series saw the gang living together in East London as they try to get their foot on the career ladder, with Anna having a love-hate relationship with Miles (Jack Davenport), whom she had a fling with while studying. Daniela appeared in 32 episodes of the series, before reuniting with the cast in for TV movie This Life +10, marking the show's 10th anniversary in 2006. The role won her a BAFTA for Best Actress in 1998. While she continued to act – starring in multiple episodes of Waterloo Road, plus episodes of Vera and Lewis on her credit list – her performance career later took a backseat to events in her personal life. In 2020, Daniela told the Daily Mail she had endured 'the worst five years of her life', revealing her father died in 2015, she got divorced shortly after, before being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 2018, getting a mastectomy. She told the site: 'I went through a very dark period. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the emotional stuff I was going through that caused my cancer. 'A couple of years down the road, I now feel as if I've emerged stronger and a better person really. Anna would be proud.' However, she noted that her time on This Life feels like 'another life now', and doesn't miss the fame that came with it. 'Not because I felt physically I was not right, but I just felt mentally and emotionally not ready,' she explained. 'Acting is a very personal thing for me, as I suppose it is for other actors. But you've only got yourself to use and if there's not much 'self' there to use, it's futile even trying. At its worst, I would have struggled to even remember a line.' Local students reach ‘spellebrity' status at 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee
OXON HILL, MD. (WKBN) – Two local seventh-graders worked hard to reach the 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee. Maureen Bone, of Beaver Local, and Daniela Lucia Pappalardo, of Canfield, studied for long hours to reach the spelling competition with students from around the globe. Both Maureen and Daniela misspelled their words in the first round. Maureen misspelled the word 'spodumene,' a Greek word that refers to a translucent, typically grayish white aluminosilicate mineral. Daniela got out on the word 'mässig,' a German word that is a direction in music. Even though both spellers were eliminated early, they are not beating themselves up over it. Instead, the spellers and their families are cherishing the memories. Daniela's older sister, Emelina, sacrificed a lot to be there for her sister. Emelina is a graduating Canfield senior who missed several senior activities to cheer her little sister on. 'Family is very important to me, and my sister has always supported me with my activities. She's always been there to watch my plays or my concerts or my performances, anything along those lines, and this is a very exciting opportunity,' Emelina said. Emelina will still walk at her graduation on Sunday. She will attend Ohio State University to pursue a career in immigration law. Maureen's mother, Heather Moser, was one of her loved ones in attendance for the Bee. Maureen shared that she was nervous when she was on stage. 'It was nerve-wracking more than anything,' Maureen said. Daniela studied mostly with her father, Dan, using a flashcard chart on Google Sheets. Maureen used the WordClub App to help her study by herself. Scripps developed the app as a study resource for students. Maureen will use the app to prepare for the Bee next year. 'You can do a vocabulary or spelling quiz. You could do flashcards, fill-in-the-blank, or multiple-choice questions,' she said. Both girls were able to experience several different activities over the course of the week that included a Memorial Day cookout, an escape room, a formal dance party, and a scavenger hunt at the baseball stadium of the Washington Nationals. Both girls will cherish the friendships they've made for the rest of their lives. 'I've just met a lot of amazing people who are so nice. I've made a ton of friends, people who have the same interests as me,' Maureen said. 'It's a very amazing experience and I'm grateful to have this,' Daniella said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. KATSEYE's Daniela Avanzini Reveals How She Does Her Signature TikTok Viral Eyeliner
Bea Oyster Just like Manon inspired TikTok users to try a new eyebrow shape and Sophia sent fans on a goose chase to find her lip gloss, Daniela Avanzini is the latest KATSEYE member to be causing a stir in the beauty world. Between all the buzz about their hit song 'Gnarly,' KATSEYE fans, nicknamed EYEKONS, found themselves enchanted by Daniela's eyeliner, perhaps because of her close-up in the performance choreography. Our TikTok 'For You' pages are filled with people hoping it will become the next big trend. Luckily, we caught up with Daniela on the set of our Teen Vogue cover shoot and talked all about her eyeliner routine, so we have all the deets you need to know about the look to recreate it at home. 'I'll take a thick black pencil liner, and I'll go in my waterline under and sometimes I'll go on top inside, not on the outside,' Daniela tells Teen Vogue. 'I'll go literally in my eye all black, and then I'll do a small thin wing on the outside, diagonally up. And then the most important part, the inner corner.' The small downward point — the key is to go downward, not straight out, she emphasizes — in the inner corner is essential to the look. 'I feel like it also gives me that siren eye, which I absolutely love,' she says, referring to the TikTok trend that inspired her. 'I love, love, love my eyes to look like this, because it's so sexy and fierce and c*nty.' In KATSEYE's cover story, Daniela Avanzini also notes how she was inspired by the way her mother used to do her makeup for her ballroom dance performances. She reveals that she hated it at the time, but she grew up to realize that the heavier makeup made all the difference when she performs on the stage. Stacey Solomon admits she's 'a little bit scared' after star's cheeky comment
One of the latest stars of Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out made the saucy quip after being overwhelmed by gratitude at what Stacey had done to transform her bedroom. Stacey Solomon was left a bit nervous after a cheeky comment from a grateful mum on this week's episode of Sort Your Life Out. The presenter, 35, returned to the BBC tonight (May 27) with her popular decluttering show. In it she and her team help families transform their homes by tackling the objects they have allowed to pile up head-on. This week's episode took Stacey and her team of experts to Hull, where they met parents Tim and Daniela and their two daughters, Leonora, 11, and Veronica, seven. Tim and Daniela had saved for years to put down a deposit on their house, but after being made redundant in 2017, renovations came to a quick stop. Thanks to their limited finances and the difficulties that come with raising two growing kids in a small space, clutter had taken over every corner of the home. Before the clean-up crew even got through the front door, Stacey was left stunned by the sheer amount of stuff the family had accumulated. "Oh my God, I can't actually open it," she gasped. "You can't get through this door — this has never happened!" After Robert Bent, Iwan Carrington, and Dilly Carter finally managed to enter the property through the back door, they were met with rooms overflowing with piles of possessions and an overwhelmed family. Daniela became emotional as she opened up about the toll the past few years had taken on her family. She tearfully shared: "The lack of finances has definitely stopped us achieving what we want from this home." Stacey rushed over to give her a hug, saying: "I'm going to give you a cuddle because I can see that it is upsetting you." After a massive clear out, where the team discovered 801 CDs, 135 cuddly toys, and an eye-watering 412 out-of-date food items, the BBC helpers laid out the family's belongings in a warehouse to help them decide what to keep. Both the parents and kids were tasked with going through all of their belongings and giving what they felt they could part ways with to charity, or putting it in a pile to be recycled. While they completed that process, Stacey's team worked on building storage units for the house and doing some refurbishments that would transform the home so it was actually liveable. This included a stunning bedroom which Daniela and Tim could unwind in - without having to literally jump over piles of rubbish to get to the bed. It was this new bedroom that sparked the hilarious interaction between Stacey and Daniela at the end of the show. The mum was overcome by joy after seeing the new space, and exclaimed: "Every night when I go to bed I'll be thinking about you now, Stacey!" Stacey seemed flattered but also caught off guard by the comment, and laughingly replied: "No one's ever said that to me before. I don't know if I'm flattered or a little bit scared!"
