Carson returns to Darley Cup action on Sunday with a bit of work to do

Carson returns to Darley Cup action on Sunday with a bit of work to do DAVID Carson has a bit of catching up to do when the third and fourth rounds of the Darley Cup take place in the second Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club meeting of the season takes place on Sunday. The Northwich rider finished third on the leaderboard after the first two rounds near Ashbourne in April. Josh Froggatt (Worksop) claimed a start-finish victory in the morning's race, leaving Carson trying to reduce the gap to David Glossop (Wilmslow) for second place. On the final lap Carson found a better route through the backmarkers and was almost able to pip Glossop at the flag, however Glossop's advantage at the end was reduced to just 0.09secs. The second race may have played out the same way but on this occasion Benjamin Dale (Warrington) joined the starting grid and while Froggatt was at the front from the opening lap, the gap between him and Dale fluctuated between 1.2secs and 0.17secs. At the start of the penultimate lap Dale was 0.8secs behind the leader, but once again backmarkers seemed to play their part and Dale turned the 'tables' on his rival, finishing with a 0.8secs advantage over Froggatt.
