KL police kill suspected burglary gang leader during Bukit Tunku raid
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Police shot dead a man, believed to be the mastermind of a robbery and housebreaking gang, in an incident on Jalan Bukit Tunku, here early today. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 36-year-old man, with 44 criminal records including drug cases, was believed to be responsible for several housebreaking and robbery cases reported in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak since last year, involving losses of more than RM1 million. He said a team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) and the Kuala Lumpur Contingent JSJ, who were conducting crime prevention duties under Op Api KL 3/2025 in the Bukit Tunku area, spotted the suspect, who was in a BMW car, at about 4.10 am today. 'During an attempt to intercept the (BMW) car, a shootout occurred, resulting in the suspect being killed at the scene. Several gunshots also struck the police vehicle,' he said. A search of the suspect's car uncovered a revolver, various burglary tools, and a police vest, he told a press conference held at the scene. Fadil said checks on the BMW car found it was using a fake registration number and was believed to have been smuggled in from abroad. Elaborating further, he said investigations showed that the gang targeted homes and business premises with safes, gold bars, and cash, and were believed to have posed as police officers. 'We believe the gang is also linked to a drug trafficking syndicate and may have dozens of members. Efforts to track down the remaining individuals are ongoing,' he said. — Bernama

Third armed robbery suspect shot dead in Sungai Petani, over 30 past offences linked to RM6m crime spree
SUNGAI PETANI, July 6 — Police have shot dead another man believed to be involved in a series of armed robberies, just a day after two other suspects were killed in a shootout in Jitra. The 34-year-old suspect was fatally shot during a similar shootout with police at 7.50 pm in Bandar Puteri Jaya, according to acting director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Fadil Marsus. "This was a special operation led by Bukit Aman CID in collaboration with several state contingents and all branches of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). "Today, we encountered an individual believed to be part of a gang involved in a series of armed robberies across several states. Attempts were made to arrest him, but he resisted and a shootout ensued, leading to his death,' he told reporters at the scene. A pistol and several other items were recovered from the suspect, who had more than 30 prior criminal records. Fadil said police believe the suspect was also a key member of a criminal group, comprising over a dozen members, responsible for a string of armed robberies, gangsterism and drug trafficking dating back to 2022, which caused losses estimated at nearly RM6 million. "Our investigations indicate this suspect was also involved in three recent armed robberies in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak,' he added. Fadil emphasised that the police would continue to act aggressively to apprehend individuals involved in violent crimes, especially those involving firearms. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code. Yesterday morning, two other suspected criminals were shot dead by police in a shootout near the North-South Expressway exit near Bandar Darul Aman in Jitra. — Bernama

Two robbery suspects with over 80 criminal records shot dead by police in Nilai
NILAI, May 16 – Police shot dead two men believed to be actively involved in robbery and drug trafficking cases in a parking area inside a condominium building here at 10 pm yesterday. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Director (Intelligence/Operations) Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, in their 40s and 20s, were involved in house, factory, and courier hub robbery cases across several states, including Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak. 'The 40-year-old suspect had 76 criminal records related to narcotics and violence, while the other suspect had 11 similar criminal records,' he told reporters at the condominium's parking area just after midnight. Negeri Sembilan Police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof was also present. Fadil said during the incident, the suspects attempted to flee in a silver-coloured car before being intercepted by police, resulting in a shootout where the police vehicle was struck by gunfire from the suspects. He said no officers were injured, and authorities believe the group may also be linked to violent crimes in other states. Fadil added that police found two firearms — a semi-automatic pistol and a revolver — at the scene. He also believed the criminal group was involved in a robbery at a courier centre in Klang about two months ago. Based on records, the group was linked to secret society activities. According to him, police are actively hunting down the remaining members of the group through a series of raids at several residential units around Selangor. 'The raids involved arrests and drug seizures, with further details to be provided later,' he said. Fadil noted the suspects were believed to have been moving frequently, renting units at the condominium here as temporary hideouts. 'There are many other locations... the suspects were believed to have rented a Toyota vehicle, and the registration plate was only used today. We believe the car's registration plate was replaced every two days,' he said. — Bernama
