Little League denounces anyone betting on its World Series games

Little League Baseball, the non-profit organization that runs its World Series tournament, condemned those who bet on the competitions involving 10- to 12-year-olds. 'While Little League International continues to monitor the complexity and ever-evolving world of sports betting, we feel strongly that there is no place for betting on Little League games or on any youth sports competition,' it said in a statement issued Thursday. 'Little League is a trusted place where children are learning the fundamentals of the games and all the important life lessons that come with having fun, celebrating teamwork, and playing with integrity, and no one should be exploiting the success and failures of children playing the game they love for their own personal gain.' Betting on the Little League World Series is illegal in the U.S., but that hasn't stopped offshore sportsbooks like Bovada and BetOnline from doing so. 'This will probably be shocking to hear, but we'll take more bets on these Little League games than we will on any professional tennis or soccer match over the next two weeks.' It's not the first time that offshore books have had issues with offering odds they shouldn't. We will be better prepared in the grading process, and we hope this viral movement will inspire the organization to enhance the distribution of clear and comprehensive information regarding competition results.' Some of the major North American sports have pretty much embraced gambling as a part of the culture, even partnering with some companies, as long as it doesn't compromise the integrity of the game or what viewers see on the playing field. Little League Baseball, whose World Series started this week in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, wants nothing to do with gambling, releasing a statement condemning the practice when it comes to their games and urging fans to place their bets elsewhere and stay away from their sport. 'While Little League International continues to monitor the complexity and ever-evolving world of sports betting, we feel strongly that there is no place for betting on Little League games or on any youth sports competition,' Little League Baseball said in a statement. 'Little League is a trusted place where children are learning the fundamentals of the games and all the important life lessons that come with having fun, celebrating teamwork, and playing with integrity, and no one should be exploiting the success and failures of children playing the game they love for their own personal gain.' No sportsbooks in the United States offer betting on the Little League World Series, but that doesn't mean unregulated sportsbooks overseas or other gambling houses will heed calls to exclude the tournament from being wagered on. The gambling site based in Panama, has offered odds on the Little League World Series in each of the last four years. Traffic guitarist Dave Mason cancels all 2025 tour dates due to 'health issues'
Dave Mason has cancelled all of his remaining shows for the year. The 79-year-old was one of the founding members of the English rock band Traffic, which came together in 1967. Their debut album, Mr. Fantasy, was followed by their self-titled 1968 album, which was their most successful in the UK and featured one of their most popular songs, Feelin' Alright?'. Soon after Dave left the band to pursue a solo career, with Traffic eventually disbanding in 1969. In the years since Dave became known for songs including Only You Know and I Know and We Just Disagree, whilst also working with George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Fleetwood Mac. Although he had a string of shows organised in the United States for the rest of the year, Dave has now announced they've had to be cancelled. Posting on social media, he shared: 'With deep regret, I must cancel all tour dates for 2025 due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I battled in March. I'm incredibly grateful to my team of doctors—this has been challenging territory, to say the least. 'A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents, and the venues who've waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey. Your kind messages have lifted my spirits more than words can express. 'Recovery is a long road. My love for you all runs deep. God bless, Dave.' Last year Dave also had to postpone a tour after a 'serious heart condition' was discovered during a routine medical check-up in September. Although he had planned to now go ahead with the shows, he 'contracted a severe infection' in March and has 'courageously' been battling it ever since, according to a press release. Commenting on the Instagram post, many fans offered their support to the musician. 'You take care Dave! I wish you the very best of health!' Sky wrote. 'Sending healing prayers,' Sheryl shared. 'Praying for a speedy recovery,' Mary added. Dave's planned shows included a summer tour with Kansas and 38 Special, as well as solo dates throughout August. All tickets will be refunded automatically at point of sale. On March 14 his team shared that he'd been hospitalised with an infection. 'Hello to all our Dave Mason fans. We want to share that Dave has been hospitalized due to a serious infection that developed quickly,' they wrote in a statement on his social media accounts. 'The entire Dave Mason family, band, and crew deeply appreciate your love and prayers during this time. Earlier in 2024 he'd published his memoir, Only You Know & I Know, and released his 21st solo album, A Shade of Blues. In 2004 Traffic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Rock legend forced to cancel all tour dates after 'challenging' health issue
British rock legend Dave Mason has cancelled all tour dates. The star, who was a founding member of the '60s rock band Traffic, explained in June that he was still continuing to battle an infection that he had initially contracted in March. He had previously postponed his tour in 2024 after suffering from a serious heart condition, which was only picked up when he attended a routine medical check-up. Dave was scheduled to get back on stage this summer after rescheduling his concerts. But now, the former Fleetwood Mac star who left the band in 1995, has taken to social media to confirm that all of his upcoming tour dates have been cancelled due to ill health. A statement read: "With deep regret, I must cancel all tour dates for 2025 due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I had in March. I'm incredibly grateful to my team of doctors—this has been challenging territory, to say the least." "A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents and the venues who've waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey. Your kind messages have lifted my spirits more than words can express. Recovery is a long road. My love for you all runs deep." Fans rushed to the comment section to send their warm wishes to Dave, with one writing: "You take care Dave! I wish you the very best of health!" A second commented: "So sad but may God bring His healing spirit toward you and your family." "We hope you feel better soon, we love you," typed a third. A fourth added: "Recovery is a long road. But here's to you popping out on the other side ready to go and 'feelin' alright!' Love you, Dave; you've got this, and God bless you." Another went on to say: "I'm so sorry to hear this. We are all praying for a full recovery. Please take good care of urself and all ur fans look forward to seeing u back out there next year." He was due to play across the United States throughout July and August, performing in States including Texas, New York and Oklahoma. On March 14, a statement from his team explained that Dave had been rushed to the hospital due to his declining health. They said: "Hello to all our Dave Mason fans. We want to share that Dave has been hospitalised due to a serious infection that developed quickly. The singer-songwriter was due to get back on stage this summer after postponing his gigs last autumn and earlier this year, too. But now the former member of Traffic and Fleetwood Mac is still recovering from the infection he contracted back in March that landed him in hospital. A statement for the rock icon was shared this week, which said: "With deep regret, I must cancel all tour dates for 2025 due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I had in March. "I'm incredibly grateful to my team of doctors—this has been challenging territory, to say the least." He went on: "A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents and the venues who've waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey. He last performed on stage a month before the discovery of his heart issue in September 2024. Dave is known for his work as a founding member of the rock band Traffic. He then, for a brief period in the 1990s, joined Fleetwood Mac and released the album Time with them. Dave then toured with them throughout 1994 and 1995. Born in Worcester, England, Dave moved permanently to the United States in 1971. When he moved to America, he lived Ojai Valley in California for 16 years.
