Former Arsenal and Chelsea star left unrecognisable as he reveals treatment for baldness

David Luiz has opened up about receiving hair loss treatment after the former Arsenal and Chelsea star cut his iconic long hair and a photo of his new look went viral Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed that he has been receiving treatment for baldness. The Champions League winner is known for having long, curly hair and was often compared to Simpsons character Sideshow Bob during his time in England. However, a photo recently went viral showing Luiz in action for Fortaleza in his native Brazil with a bald patch. The 38-year-old has cut his hair short and has now released a video with his barber explaining the treatment he has been receiving. ‌ "Over the years, I've lost a little hair," Luiz said in the video. "I have treated baldness for many years. I used to be a cap lover back in the beginning. "Now, over the years I have much more difficulty to leave the hair as I liked, the one fullest of curls, the curly way I liked it. It was a lot more work too. It was easier for me to put on the cap and do the style this way." Luiz was then given a haircut, with the defender left delighted with the results as he jokingly asked his barber: "Where did you stick the baldness?" Luiz joined Fortaleza in January after leaving Flamengo on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal with the club. "I am here, completely happy, body and soul," Luiz said after joining Fortaleza, as per CNN Brasil. ‌ "To perhaps live one of the best chapters of my life. I want to be a champion, as I was with other clubs. It is not easy. It requires sacrifice, dedication, work. But that is what we like to do. "I am looking forward to being part of the game on the field too, and to being able to give this crowd a major title, whether Brazilian or South American. First you dream, then you make it happen. "It's something that was already written in stone. Whether it's from friends or from the admiration I've built for Fortaleza. Because of the principles that were implemented at this club, because of the philosophy that is strictly followed. ‌ "Above all, respect and discipline come first. In the future, we'll reap the rewards. Fortaleza is admired throughout the country today. Because it's a transparent team that exudes maturity in the way it deals with all situations, whether they're favourable or not. "It's great. When we have players in quantity and quality, it's good for Fortaleza. We'll need all the players in the squad, due to logistics and the number of games we're going to play. This lack of rest time means that the squads have more and more players. "The more prepared you are, the better for the club." However, the club have made a disappointing start to the new season and picked up just one win from their first five games in the Brazilian Serie A.

Ex-Chelsea star reveals he has been dealing with hair loss for 'many years' as he shows off transformation after looking unrecognisable in new photo that went viral

Former Chelsea star David Luiz has revealed he has been receiving treatment for baldness for 'many years' after a new photo of him went viral recently. The Champions League winner, 38, had two separate spells at Chelsea between 2011 and 2019, while he also spent two years at Arsenal before returning to Brazil in 2021. During his time in England, he was known for his long, curly locks, with some fans even wearing wigs in the crowd to show support for his unique haircut. But a photo from the weekend of him in action for Brazilian outfit Fortaleza shocked fans as it showed Luiz with a significant bald patch on the top of his head. Luiz has now released a video with his barber to explain how he has been dealing with his hair loss issue for some time. In the video, Luiz revealed: 'Over the years, I've lost a little hair. I have treated baldness for many years. 'I used to be a cap lover back in the beginning. Now, over the years I have much more difficulty to leave the hair as I liked, the one fullest of curls, the curly way I liked it. 'It was a lot more work too. It was easier for me to put on the cap and do the style this way.' Luiz then removed his cap to show his long locks, but admitted that his hair was thinning and in need of attention. The barber seemed less concerned, insisting there was still 'huge potential' for Luiz to continue with his own trademark style. He then gave Luiz a haircut, leaving the defender looking like a new man as he jokingly asked: 'where did you stick the baldness!?' Luiz appeared delighted with the significant transformation as he ran his fingers through his hair to check that there were no patches without hair. The barber was also proud of his work, with Luiz looking younger than ever, as he declared that the Brazilian star has 'a lot of football still ahead'. Luiz joined Fortaleza at the start of the year and has featured in all five of their league matches so far this season. Fortaleza are currently 14th in Brazil's top division, having taken five points from as many games.

Arsenal fans launch satirical 'Visit Tottenham' campaign to protest the club's controversial Rwanda deal

A group of Arsenal supporters have opted for a satirical approach in their campaign against the club's sponsorship deal with Visit Rwanda. Gunners For Peace unveiled a 'Visit Tottenham ' billboard outside the Emirates Stadium and said that the club's supporters would rather visit their arch rivals than continue to support the African regime. Arsenal first signed a £10million-a-year shirt-sleeve agreement with Visit Rwanda, which is part of the Rwanda Development Board governmental body, in 2018, lasting three seasons, which was extended in 2021. As well as appearing on the shirt sleeves of Arsenal's men's, women's and youth teams, the Visit Rwanda logo is also on LED boards on matchdays at the Emirates Stadium and interview backdrops. The agreement has seen several past and present Arsenal players travel to Rwanda for sponsored content; David Luiz 's trip in 2019 was particularly memorable, as he stalked a gorilla in the jungle. Last month, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government wrote a letter to Arsenal owners Stan and Josh Kroenke asking that they end the 'blood-stained sponsorship deal' after an invasion of DRC territory involving Rwanda-backed rebel group M23. The invasion of the city of Goma, home to about as many people as the populations of Leeds and Newcastle combined, has caused an estimated 3,000 deaths, according to United Nations officials. Visit Rwanda has adorned Arsenal's shirt sleeves since 2018 and they extended the deal four years ago As part of the protest, the group will be handing out armbands so supporters can cover up the Visit Rwanda branding on their shirts during Arsenal's clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. Gunners for Peace have also produced a sardonic tourist video for the home of their bitter rivals Tottenham. 'Arsenal is a great club. We have standards,' reads the billboard outside the Emirates Stadium. 'Which is why Visit Rwanda needs to end. This is the same regime that's funding a brutal militia with thousands of victims in Eastern Congo. We think anything - literally anything - would be better than Visit Rwanda. Even Tottenham.' James Turner of the Gunners For Peace supporter group told The Telegraph: 'It's hard to think of a worse sponsor than Visit Rwanda, and together with many other Arsenal fans we are calling on the club to drop them.' Mail Sport understands the Gunners are exploring more lucrative sponsorship alternatives and are considering not renewing the partnership for a third term. The legacy of the deal, Arsenal's commercial revenue situation and the increasing trend of Premier League teams partnering with foreign nations for millions make for a complicated picture.
