Former Taunton Debenhams building goes up for sale

The former Debenhams building in Taunton has been put up for sale, four years after the shop Properties, the owner of the building, has listed the shop for £1.75 million.A spokesperson for the company said: "We are confident of finding a suitable buyer for this prominent and high-profile building. "We want to see something positive happening here as soon as possible, and we hope to find a buyer with the expertise to secure the future of the site." Ropemaker Properties had previously applied to demolish the building and build 92 flats in its place, but those plans were scrapped in staff member Margaret Harris, who worked there for more than 37 years, said: "The department store brought people into town because it sold everything."It needs to be a department store again."Taunton and Wellington MP Gideon Amos, who had been campaigning for the store to reopen, told BBC Somerset the building "has been empty for far too long."It's a really positive opportunity that it's on the market, it's important it gets brought back into use."It would be great if the building could be kept. It is a landmark in the town centre," he said. The 7,815 sq m (84,127 sq ft) building sits over five floors in a prominent location in Taunton's town Maynard, partner at Alder King, who are managing the sale, said: "Although the commercial property market remains challenging, this building's enviable town centre location combined with Taunton's ambitious regeneration plans, means we are confident of finding a suitable buyer for this high-profile site."

I'm a fashion editor and these are the must-have items I'm buying in the Debenhams summer sale

Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more I still reminisce about the heyday of the old Debenhams department store in my hometown of Hull. It was a centre point of our little northern city and a regular haunt for us locals while shopping on Saturdays. Debenhams was, and still is, the go-to destination for wedding guest dresses, fabulous shoes, designer-looking bags, great jeans, activewear and even pyjamas. But it's real forte? Sales! Today their discounted offering online is one of the best you can find. And better yet, it now stocks more brands than ever before. If you're not sure where to start, I've trawled through the 13,4054 womenswear items on offer. From Prada and Miu Miu sunglasses, to the comfiest FitFlop sandals, Coast event dresses, Karen Millen frocks and Kurt Geiger heels, these are the best bits to buy before they're gone. Coast £89.25 Shop Fontanella Fashion £29.24 Shop This cleverly ruched midi will be ultra flattering around your midriff. Pair it with some gold heels and a metallic clutch bag for a wedding guest ready look. Wondering what shades to invest in for autumn? Start strong with this sage green shoulder bag, which you can also wear as a crossbody. Where's That From has become a go-to footwear brand for stylists and those in the know that are on the hunt for super affordable, yet trend-led and contemporary designs. These brown leather mules will make a brilliant wardrobe staple. Wide-leg baggy jeans aren't going anywhere and this pleat waist pair drape over the legs beautifully. Consider good denim for less than £60 a steal! I love the details on this blouse which make it look far more expensive than it actually is. Embroidery, ruffles and a peter pan collar elevate this basic silhouette. Wear it with jorts (jean shorts) now and tailored trousers later. Whatever the weather, sunglasses are never a bad investment. This cat-eye Prada pair are a bargain for less than £300. The sleek metal handle makes this little ecru crossbody look really high end - wear it casually or dress it up with matching mules for an event. If you're sick of your breezy circle skirt, try this khaki satin slip style from Oasis instead. When it gets colder, pair it with black knee high boots rather than your pumps. Polka dots are set to trend into next year, so you won't get it wrong with this printed midi. The black base colour means you can wear it with sheer black tights and leather boots come winter. FitFlop has been one of my favourite footwear brands of the summer. Chunky leather flip flops go with absolutely everything - I've walked miles in mine and I won't stop until autumn hits. Looking for a pair of party shoes? Kurt Geiger produces some of the best statement styles out there, including these pretty studded point toe mules. Or if you're after last minute holiday buys, look no further than this glamorous cut out swimsuit with gold-toned hardware. Karen Millen £72 Shop This clever Karen Millen trench can actually be worn short or long with a detachable section. If you invest in this now, you're technically getting two coats for the price of one. Woven leather bags have become the It arm candy of the summer. Dragon Diffusion's styles costs hundreds, but this Dune iteration is a fraction of the price. Tinted sunglasses amp up the simplest of outfits. This Miu Miu pair won't be discounted for long - run, don't walk. Wear yours with a plain white sundress, like this one from FS Collection, to let your eyes do the talking. You should have at least one white puff sleeve blouse on your rail. Versatile and so easy to wear, for £14 you really can't go wrong. Thanks to the SS25 Chloé runway, wedges are back. This tan pair with a back strap are supportive yet chic. Threadbare £34 Shop Warehouse skirt £24 Shop I love a co-ord and this linen embroidered one from Threadbare will see you through the last sunny days of August. Equally, this black boho midi skirt is just as simple to style - pair yours with whatever black tops you already own. Dorothy Perkins dress £22.50 Shop Graphic floral midis have been a super trend of the summer. Invest in Monsoon's silky long-sleeved iteration or try this casual sundress from Dorothy Perkins, which will look great with trainers, sandals or heels.

This Morning's Rochelle Humes wears denim jumpsuit that's now £100 off with deal stack

Rochelle Humes has been wowing fans with her high street style on This Morning this week - and Thursday is no different, with the presenter wearing a Karen Millen jumpsuit that's now on sale If this week has taught fashion fans anything, it's that Rochelle Humes' outfits never miss their mark. The This Morning presenter has looked outstanding all week with a range of outfits from the high street, each one nailing top trends while remaining totally timeless. For Thursday's episode of the show, which saw her host alongside Dermot O'Leary, she opened the show chatting to England Lioness Chloe Kelly while wearing what looked to be a chic denim waistcoat and trouser set. Upon further inspection, it's actually a jumpsuit from celebrity-loved brand Karen Millen. The 36-year-old wore the brand's Tailored Denim Peplum Wide Leg Jumpsuit, which gives the illusion of a co-ord but is actually an effortless, throw-on-and-go look that can be dressed up or down depending on the event. And the best part? It's currently 30% off. Originally £229, the outfit has been reduced to £160, and is available in almost every size from 6-16. Shoppers can currently get an extra 20% off with the code SALE20, taking the price down even further to £128 - that's over £100 off the original price. However, the 'Rochelle effect' often sees the former Saturdays singer's outfits sell out soon after being seen on the business mogul, with her denim ASOS dress from Monday selling out the same day. The website also doesn't seem to have any reviews available for the product, which could put some shoppers off ordering without being able to try it on. Tailored Denim Peplum Wide Leg Jumpsuit £229.00 £128.00 Karen Millen Buy here Product Description The jumpsuit, also available at Debenhams, boasts a structured bodice with a square neckline to create a 'flattering frame', while the peplum detail adds a 'feminine touch' to the relaxed wide-leg silhouette. Peplum hems are a big trend for 2025, with Rochelle even wearing a peplum top on Wednesday. Her Khaki Sleeveless Tie Back Corset Top from high-street favourite River Island, also comes in brown and white, both of which would effortlessly slot into Rochelle's wardrobe. The one piece is made from 62% cotton and has added stretch to make it comfortable to wear all day, even in warm weather. Not only that, but it offers endless styling opportunities, from trainers and a crossbody bag for weekend brunches or family gatherings, or dress it up with block-heeled sandals and statement earrings for casual dinner dates. For something a little different, Nobody's Child is offering this Dark Blue Tailored Peri Jumpsuit for £89. It's made from a linen and cotton blend, featuring subtle front pleats, nipping in at the waist, before falling to a wide, relaxed leg. Another outfit Rochelle has worn this week was this pale yellow Gathered Cotton Blouse from Mango, which is still in stock at £45.99. The gathered blouse is the perfect pick for summer, made from a light and breezy cotton poplin fabric. The cotton helps it maintain its shape and gives it a little structure, whilst still being cool and comfortable for those high temperature days. But if it's her jumpsuit that's missing from your wardrobe, shoppers can snap it up here with a double discount for £128.
