Minister El-Shimy pushes for stronger returns, partnerships in real estate, construction sectors

Mohamed El-Shimy, Minister of the Public Enterprises Sector, held a high-level meeting on Monday with the CEOs of companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Construction and Development. The session, held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Contracting Company (Mokhtar Ibrahim), focused on evaluating project progress, performance metrics, and future plans, including upcoming contracts. Also attending were Mohamed Mostafa, Executive Managing Director of the Holding Company, along with senior officials from the ministry. El-Shimy stressed that the construction and real estate sectors play a pivotal role in Egypt's broader urban development strategy. He underscored the importance of delivering projects on time and to a high standard, while urging affiliated companies to maximise the return on state-owned real estate assets. He also called for the expansion of economically viable projects and stronger partnerships with the private sector. The minister reviewed the contributions of affiliated companies to national development initiatives across multiple governorates. These include infrastructure and utility projects under the 'Decent Life' presidential initiative—such as wastewater treatment facilities, water purification plants, bridges, schools—as well as residential developments in the New Administrative Capital. Additional projects include electrical work in the New Delta, North Coast, Red Sea, Beni Suef, Giza, and Qena, as well as shoreline protection in Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh. A key part of the discussion focused on the economic utilisation of real estate assets and increasing private sector investment. Updates were provided on the New Heliopolis development, including enhancements to infrastructure, landscaping, pedestrian walkways, internal roads, and gates, along with a planned mixed-use compound combining residential, commercial, and administrative spaces. El-Shimy highlighted the successful restoration of the historic Granada Palace in Heliopolis, now reopened as a cultural and artistic venue. This was presented as a model for integrating heritage preservation with strategic investment. The meeting also touched on the rebranding of the Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development, signalling a strategic shift toward institutional development, improved marketing, and stronger customer trust. Other real estate projects discussed included Areba in the North Coast, Raqia in El-Ibrahimia, Grand View Smouha 2, Maadi View El Shorouk, Maadi Valley, Sea Bell in New Mansoura, and development plans in Hadayek Al-Asimah, where a comprehensive urban community is being designed. Updates on international ventures and recent contracts were also shared. Additionally, affiliated construction companies' contributions to broader ministry initiatives were reviewed. These include the national textile industry revitalisation project, the rehabilitation of El Nasr Automotive, upgrades to pharmaceutical companies, and the Jaz Asila resort in Marsa Alam. El-Shimy urged companies to focus on integrated real estate developments, improve marketing strategies, and take full advantage of high-value land assets to create distinctive and competitive projects. He also emphasised the importance of expanding into regional and global markets, leveraging the technical expertise and accumulated experience of affiliated firms to enhance competitiveness and diversify revenue streams. Customer satisfaction was highlighted as a core success metric, with El-Shimy calling for ongoing improvements in customer service, project quality, and operational efficiency. He pointed to stronger financial performance and rising real estate sales as signs of positive momentum. Concluding the meeting, the minister praised the synergy among subsidiaries under the Holding Company for Construction and Development and their collaboration with other entities under the ministry. He affirmed that such integration is essential for accelerating project execution, maximising returns on state investments, and advancing comprehensive national development goals.

Egypt will always remain fortified by its national unity: El-Sisi marking 23 July Revolution anniversary

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed on Wednesday that Egypt 'will always remain fortified by its cohesive internal front—impervious to conspiracies and strife, and fully aware of what is being plotted around it.' The remarks came during a televised address marking the 73rd anniversary of the 23 July 1952 Revolution. 'I am firmly convinced that this nation is capable of overcoming challenges and surpassing hardships, no matter how varied or widespread they may be,' El-Sisi said. The president paid tribute to the historical significance of the 1952 Revolution, describing it as a defining moment in the country's modern history. 'On this day, seventy-three years ago, the Egyptian people wrote a shining page in their history, when the spark of the July 1952 Revolution ignited—marking a turning point in the nation's path,' he said. 'It ended a hated era of occupation, established the values of dignity, honour, and independence, and lit the torch of liberation across the Arab region and the Third World.' He described the revolution as 'an inspiration for freedom from colonialism and for national independence.' Reflecting on the lessons of history, El-Sisi said the state continues to draw from the revolution's legacy. 'This republic, built in 2014, stands on solid foundations, guided by an ambitious vision and steady steps toward a modern state that embraces scientific methods to fulfill its aspirations and trusts in God's help to achieve its goals,' he said. El-Sisi pointed to Egypt's resilience amid global upheaval, noting that the country has made 'great accomplishments at a time when other nations have collapsed, entities fragmented, and crises intensified.' 'Yet Egypt remained a land of safety and stability—a secure refuge for humanity,' he added. The president highlighted Egypt's role as a sanctuary during turbulent times. 'Nearly 10 million people from various countries have sought refuge here. Egypt has offered the world a unique model of humanity and responsibility. Despite ongoing pressures, it has never abandoned its national or humanitarian obligations.' The nation's development Turning to domestic progress, El-Sisi stressed Egypt's commitment to development in the face of adversity. 'We preserved the nation's stability and chose the path of construction through a powerful national effort, with determination and hands that do not break,' he said. He highlighted major achievements in recent years, particularly in defence, infrastructure, and social protection. 'Our valiant army has developed into an impenetrable shield and a sharp sword. We defeated terrorism, and the land of Egypt was cleansed of its evils,' El-Sisi declared. He also noted the country's sweeping urban transformation, which included the removal of slums, construction of new housing, and the establishment of smart cities. A flagship initiative in this effort, he said, is Haya Karima (Decent Life), which now benefits nearly 60 million citizens. 'I affirm here,' he continued, 'that Egypt—refusing to let its people live in slums or unsafe areas—will not leave any deserving citizen uncertain about their future or housing.' In conclusion, President El-Sisi expressed his gratitude to the revolutionaries of July 1952, as well as to the Armed Forces, police, and all Egyptians working to build and protect the nation. National Veal Project secures EGP 9.7bn in funding for nearly 45k beneficiaries: Agriculture Minister

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced that the Board of Directors of the National Veal Project has approved new funding worth EGP 149.8m to support 107 smallscale farmers and young graduates, covering a total of 2,140 heads of livestock. The Minister noted that this brings the total financing provided to the project so far to more than EGP 9.715bn, benefiting around 44,900 individuals. The funds have supported the rearing and fattening of over 520,000 heads of cattle, including calves for meat production and highyield dairy heifers, with the aim of increasing the availability of meat and dairy products in the local market. Farouk emphasised that the initiative aligns with the 'Decent Life' programme launched by President Abdel Fattah ElSisi, which seeks to develop rural communities and improve the living standards of smallscale farmers and breeders. He stressed the project's role in providing red meat at fair prices to consumers and producers alike, as well as in maintaining market price stability for livestock, red meat, and dairy products. To ensure proper implementation, specialised field committees have been formed from the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector and the General Authority for Veterinary Services, in coordination with agricultural and veterinary directorates across all governorates. These committees provide beneficiaries with technical, veterinary, and healthcare support and work to resolve any challenges encountered on the ground. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mostafa ElSayyad highlighted that the Ministry, along with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt and the National Bank of Egypt, conducts onsite inspections to verify the suitability of breeding and shelter facilities before funding is approved. Once the livestock are distributed, they are insured through the Livestock Insurance Fund at discounted rates, enabling beneficiaries to access additional support services. Tarek Suleiman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, added that those wishing to join the Baladi Veal National Project can apply through their nearest agricultural department or any branch of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt or the National Bank of Egypt nationwide. Alternatively, they can directly contact the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector for guidance and support.
