Deepika Padukone's stylist shares insights into actress's bold fashion choices and hairstyles

Deepika Padukone is known for her elegant looks and her signature sleek hair bun. But according to her longtime stylist, Shaleena Nathani, the hairstyle is not always a go-to. Instead, it depends on the entire outfit. Truth behind the sleek hairdo In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Shaleena explained that the sleek bun is chosen only when it fits the overall look. 'It's not something we force,' she said. 'She has such a beautiful face, so what better way to highlight it?' Shaleena added that while Deepika has gorgeous hair and can leave it open, sometimes the hairstyle just doesn't suit the outfit. When Deepika chopped her hair, many thought she would stop doing the sleek bun. But that didn't stop her or the team. They went ahead with the look anyway. 'I don't know why people have a problem with the sticky bun. I think it's fantastic,' Shaleena said. Deepika hates wearing this one color When asked if Deepika has any strict fashion rules, Shaleena revealed one thing the actress usually avoids—yellow. 'We thought maybe if Sabyasachi designed a yellow outfit, she would wear it. And she did, but she accused us of doing it on purpose!' Shaleena laughed. She explained that if the shade is right, yellow can actually look great on Deepika. Watch the full conversation here: Open to experiments Deepika is always open to trying new styles. 'She never says no unless she wears something and it turns out to be a disaster,' Shaleena shared. That's when they all agree to drop the look. Ranveer Singh's influence When asked about Ranveer Singh 's impact on Deepika's fashion sense, Shaleena admitted that he may have had some influence. 'Sometimes she says, 'This is inspired by my husband' or 'We're doing more bright colors now.'' Shaleena also praised Ranveer for his bold fashion sense. 'No one can carry clothes the way he does,' she said. Chhapaak promotions and personal style During promotions for Chhapaak, Deepika chose simple and comfortable outfits. Shaleena said the goal was to reflect authenticity and support the film's message of inclusivity. 'She didn't want to feel pressured. She just wanted to be herself,' she said. Getting ready for Cannes and the Met Gala When it comes to international events like Cannes or the Met Gala, Deepika and her team start prepping months in advance. 'Nothing is left for the last minute,' Shaleena said. She praised Deepika for being organized and involved in every step of the process.

Did Saif Ali Khan subtly weigh in on Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Spirit row?: 'I hate coming home and...'

Deepika Padukone and Prabhas were set to reunite on screen once again following their Kalki 2898 AD stint. The actor and mother of one, was officially brought on board for the Prabhas-starrer Spirit, earlier this month, set to be helmed by Animal fame director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, in a matter of a few weeks things seemed to have soured to a point of controversy. Trouble seemingly began when Deepika, as per multiple media reports, allegedly made work demands that were taxing to Sandeep's sensibilities. A fat ₹20 crore fee, 8-hour work days and an alleged refusal to mouth dialogues in Telugu, collectively got the director's goat. Soon enough, reports started circulating about Deepika having walked out of the film. What really sealed the controversy in though, was the overnight announcement crowning Triptii Dimri as the female lead opposite Prabhas. A post shared by Triptii Dimri (@tripti_dimri) Things seemingly got worse when Sandeep himself penned an all but direct jab at Deepika, alleging she has disclosed details of the film whilst also running a PR campaign directed against Triptii — he also went so far as to conclude the note with the saying, "khundak mein billi khamba noche". In the days that followed, many have directly or indirectly, weighed in on the Deepika-Vanga row. For instance Ajay Devgn and Kajol were the first to state how much of the industry is sympathetic to demands of work-life balance, especially when the actors in question having young kids at home. The latest to join the list may just be Saif Ali Khan. During a recent chat at the Arab Media Summit, Saif reflected on the importance of choosing to give time to his family, despite pressing work schedules. 'I hate coming home and seeing the kids already asleep. That's not success. Success is being able to say, 'No, I need to go home now to catch that half hour with them' ", he said, adding, "We get four holidays a year, and when my kids are on break, I don't work. That time is sacred. I'm at that crazy age where I have to call both my mom and my children. You think it's just your parents you have to check on — then you realise it's both". 'Success and privilege, for me, is being able to say no to work and yes to time with my family', shared Saif.

After Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan also champions family time for actors: 'I hate coming home and seeing...'

Actor Deepika Padukone's reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit recently stirred chatter across social media. According to multiple anonymous sources, the decision was allegedly due to the actor's 'unreasonable' demands—one of which included a strict limit of working no more than eight hours a day. Amid this, Saif Ali Khan also advocated for prioritising family while working and revealed that success, to him, means being present for his loved ones. (Also Read: Kareena Kapoor shares pic of Saif Ali Khan and Taimur jamming at home: 'Have got my own band') While speaking at the Arab Media Summit, Saif shared that his idea of success is choosing family over frenzy. He said, 'I hate coming home and seeing the kids already asleep. That's not success. Success is being able to say, 'No, I need to go home now to catch that half hour with them.' We get four holidays a year, and when my kids are on break, I don't work. That time is sacred. I'm at that crazy age where I have to call both my mum and my children. You think it's just your parents you have to check on — then you realise it's both.' Saif also spoke about the importance of showing up in the small ways and said, 'Working is important, yes. But so is cooking pasta together, having a meal, and focusing on the kids. That's the real glue of life. Success and privilege, for me, is being able to say no to work and yes to time with my family.' Deepika reportedly left Vanga's Spirit and was replaced by Triptii Dimri. She was labelled "unprofessional" for her demands, which included working only eight-hour shifts with a newborn at home. According to several sources, the actor also charged a substantial fee of ₹20 crore, sought a profit-sharing deal, and declined to deliver her dialogues in Telugu. Shortly afterwards, a Pinkvilla report outlined the basic plot of Vanga's film, stating that it is an A-rated thriller in which Prabhas plays a cop. The report also mentioned that the film would feature certain 'bold scenes' between the lead pair. Vanga then took to X to imply that the leak had come from Deepika, though he did not name the actor directly. He wrote, 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are... Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?' On the work front, Saif will next be seen in the high-octane action thriller Race 4, a biopic directed by Rahul Dholakia. He also has an untitled project with Priyadarshan and a social thriller with Hansal Mehta in the pipeline. Deepika, meanwhile, is reportedly set to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in his upcoming film King, which also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Abhay Verma, Rani Mukerji, Saurabh Shukla, and others in key roles.

Don't mess with Sandeep Reddy Vanga: Social media reacts to Deepika Padukone justifying leaving film over money issues

Deepika Padukone may be one of the highest-paid actors in the country today, but she has consistently spoken out about gender-based pay disparity in the film industry. Amid speculation surrounding her reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming film Spirit, an old interview of the actress has resurfaced, where she openly discusses turning down a film due to unequal pay. Although Deepika has not officially confirmed or commented on her departure from Spirit, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga appeared to address the matter in a cryptic but strongly worded post on social media platform X. Without naming anyone, he expressed his disappointment at an unnamed actress, accusing her of 'putting down a younger actor" and leaking details about the film. 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?" he wrote. He further added, 'You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it.' According to reports, Deepika was initially cast opposite Prabhas in Spirit. However, Triptii Dimri — who gained attention for her performance in Vanga's Animal— is now said to be replacing her. Reports also claim Deepika was offered ₹ 20 crore for the role, the highest fee of her career so far, even surpassing recent quotes for her husband Ranveer Singh. In the resurfaced NDTV interview, Deepika recalled walking away from a film project because the director could not meet her fee demand, even though she liked the script. She said, 'When I quoted my price, the director said he couldn't afford it because he had to pay the male actor's fee. So I said, ok then, tata goodbye, because I know my track record. I know what I am worth.' Deepika added that it was not about ego, but principle. 'At the end of the day, I didn't want to sleep at night knowing I had an equal creative contribution but was underpaid. I was not okay with that.'Deepika's remarks have drawn attention online, with many praising her for standing her ground and while other crticised her. A user wrote: 'Track record is a biggest joke. Pls don't dare to mess with Vanga. He is a masterpiece.'Another wrote : 'This clearly shows you are not passionate about cinema, you are more into money.' A third user said: 'Wise decision.' On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, which featured an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar. She also starred in the Telugu sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. A sequel to the film is reportedly planned for 2026.
