'Hera Pheri 3' dispute: 'Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal could have just sat across the table and sorted it,' say industry insiders as they react to the issue
The entire industry went into a state of shock as announced his sudden exit from 'Hera Pheri 3' just when finally, everything was on track. The film has not seen the light of the day since so many years and when finally now, bought the rights from producer Feroz Nadiadwala and Priyadarshan on board to direct it, Paresh Rawal backed out. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Just as the actor announced his exit from the film, it was reported that Akshay's production house filed a lawsuit against the actor. The legal team of his production house told Times Of India, "Mr Rawal had publicly acknowledged his participation in the film on 30th January 2025 via a post on his official (formerly Twitter) handle. He further formalised his commitment by executing a Term Sheet dated 27th March 2025, pursuant to which he accepted a part payment of Rs 11,00,000/- towards his remuneration. Acting in complete reliance on his public endorsement and contractual commitment, Cape of Good Films incurred substantial production and promotional expenditures, including those for the teaser and initial film shoot, in which Mr Rawal actively participated. " This of course leads to a larger perspective and conversation about the future prospects of the film considering the fact that fans cannot think of anyone else except for Rawal to play Baburao! As fans hope that Rawal joins the film again, here's what industry insiders have to say. Deja Vu moment In 2012, had walked out of 'Race 2' which was produced by Ramesh Taurani after the shoot had begun. The actress had walked out of the project after shooting for 5-6 days and it came as a huge shock to everyone. Taurani had said that time in 2012, that Deepika's behaviour was 'unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable' He had also filed a lawsuit against the star as she left his film after signing the contract and after the shoot began. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He had also stated that this is also unfair to the other actors in the film. He had said that time, "On that day, people kept calling me asking whether Deepika was out of Race 2. I was clueless. I called her and asked her. She simply said that she would come to my office by 5 pm with her new manager to work out everything. At around 3 pm, she called to say that she wouldn't be able to keep the appointment. However, her manager would be present on her behalf. Finally, when the manager arrived, he simply told me that Deepika wouldn't be able to do our film. And that's because she is doing a major Hollywood project. Now imagine!" However, now, with the fresh 'Hera Pheri 3' issue as Paresh Rawal backed out of the project, as ETimes contact Ramesh Taurani, he refused to talk about what had happened in the past with Deepika. Infact, the producer said that there is no point of talking about what happened in the past as eventually the film got made, Deepika resumed 'Race 2' and all is now well between the actor and producer. The producer only commented, "All I want to say is that, mainly when the artist signs the agreement, takes the signing amount and commits his dates and everything, I think he shouldn't go back off, that's not correct. That is not ethical. Whatever the reason may be, but it shouldn't be done." Trade perspective A situation like this which has gotten serious now, may really affect 'Hera Pheri 3' and the future of it. However, one hopes that all goes well and in that case, a controversy like this only is a testament to people's anticipation towards the film. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh opines that this issue could just have been sorted internally. He says, "I wish Akshay and Paresh would have sat across the table and sorted it out. This entire thing of sending a notice to Paresh Rawal is something which doesn't really sound nice. They have been friends and they have been colleagues for almost three decades now, and I think it's not right to actually take it to a legal level. I feel that way. But anyway, I hope good sense prevails and they sit across the table and sort it out. Film trade expert Girish Wankhede adds, "I believe that the ongoing controversy surrounding 'Hera Pheri 3' will not adversely affect its prospects. In fact, it has garnered additional media attention, which can be beneficial. However, the conflict involving Akshay Kumar, the producer, and Paresh Rawal casts a shadow over the film industry as a whole. The chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal is exceptional, and Paresh Rawal is one of the few actors who has consistently collaborated with director Priyadarshan. Given that Priyadarshan has directed numerous successful films featuring Paresh Rawal, any deterioration in this relationship could reflect poorly on the industry, suggesting a lack of loyalty among friends." He added, "While the business side of things looks promising—after all, 'Hera Pheri' is a highly successful franchise that has the potential to grow even larger in terms of scale and brand recognition—the underlying issues are concerning. This situation serves as a reminder of the complexities within the film industry, where personal disputes can overshadow professional relationships. Netizens react: 'No Hera Pheri without Babu bhaiya' Paresh Rawal took to X and clarified, "I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director." Here's how netizens had reacted to his exit. A user said, "Sir main nas kaat lunga, take your decision back. Paise jyada chahiye toh hum Hera pheri fan club crowdsource kar denge." Another one said, "Hera Pheri without Baburao is hard to made the role unforgettable with your perfect timing and matter what, fans will always think of you first when they think of Hera Pheri. Still hoping that it's just a marketing campaign to get some hype and there's a surprise and you return — because no one can take Baburao's place!" Clearly, people unanimously believe there can't be 'Hera Pheri 3' without Paresh Rawal and hope the actor is back on board!

Two men jailed after huge cannabis farm found in former Peterhead nightclub
Two men have been jailed after a huge cannabis farm was found hidden inside a former Peterhead nightclub. Iraldo Sarasellil and Ronaldo Abazi, both 26, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court today to be sentenced after admitting growing and supplying the drug from inside the former Deja Vu nightclub. Their operation came to light in September last year when police stormed the old nightspot on Queen Street and uncovered hundreds of cannabis plants. The building was shut down and the drugs – valued at an estimated £1.5 million – were pulled seized. However, the court heard today that this valuation was overestimated, and the actual amount of the drugs haul was up to £777,600. Sarasellil also pleaded guilty to knowingly entering the UK using an illegal small boat from France in July last year, contrary to the Immigration Act. Abazi was jailed for 42 months for the production and supply of a controlled drug, Sarasellil received an extra six months on top of his 42-month sentence for re-entering the country illegally. Fiscal depute Ruaridh McAllister told the court police forced entry to the vacant nightclub on September 18 last year where they found two floors of cannabis plants inside, along with Abazi and Sarasellil. 'They found a sophisticated set-up involving lighting, ventilation and electrical supply,' Mr McAllister said. 'The first growing area was the former dance floor, and a second area was found on the first floor in the former cinema.' The court heard a third cannabis garden was discovered at the rear. A total of 960 plants were found on site, with a potential street value of anywhere between £192,000 and £777,600. Abazi was found inside the building and was arrested, telling officers: 'I'm not involved in the electrics. 'I was just working there to water – I'm not involved with trafficking – just watering the cannabis.' The court heard his co-accused Sarasellil was captured trying to flee by jumping from a window. He told arresting officers: 'It's not because I wanted to do this – I do not know about the electrics – it was ready when I got there.' Abazi's defence solicitor Sam Milligan said his client was from Albania and had no previous convictions, adding: 'He is not a foolish man.' Mr Milligan went on to describe how Abazi had come to the UK in search of work, but had entered illegally, adding: 'He was allocated work in London at first, but did not receive fair remuneration. 'He part-paid his transportation costs and was thereafter taken to Peterhead when he was unable to repay the amount in full.' Mr Milligan said the legal criteria for coercion and working under duress had not been met, but told the court his client was 'very much at the bottom of the pyramid'. Abazi, who will face deportation at the end of his prison sentence, was said to 'welcome' that outcome. Sheriff Annella Cowan, speaking to Abazi, said: 'You knew what you were getting involved in, but you took part anyway. 'Given the value, I would have imposed a sentence of four and a half years, but because of your guilty plea I shall discount this to three and a half years or 42 months, backdated to September 19, 2024.' The court heard that following Sarasellil's arrest, police were made aware, by the Home Office, that he was in breach of a Deportation Order in that he had returned to the UK in a small boat from France. His defence solicitor Iain Jane said Sarasellil had found himself in a similar situation to his colleague in that he had been working in London trying to pay off his transportation debt. Mr Jane explained: 'Compound interest was being added, and he was making no headway with it.' Sarasellil was also brought to Peterhead, but said, as with Abazi, the legal test for it being treated as coercion had not been reached. Mr Jane said his client had helped authorities by giving them information on how he entered the UK by a small boat. Sheriff Cowan asked if this information had been useful in monitoring immigration, but fiscal depute McAllister was unsure. She said to Sarasellil of his illegal immigration charge: 'Taking the best interpretation of the information put before me, you will be sentenced to six months imprisonment.' Sarasellil was also sentenced to 42 months for the cultivation and supply of cannabis, meaning he will serve a total jail sentence of 48 months.

Lifting the lid on the twins' different personalities in 2019, grandma Tina said, "The girl (Rumi) is really just going to rule the world, and the boy (Sir) is kind of laid back and chills like the dad". She added that "(Blue Ivy) is the Queen B. The second Queen B". Sir is said to prefer being quieter and is interested in "all of the numbers stuff, so he's not into fashion as much". In 2020, Sir's grandad, Mathew said of the youngster, "Sir, he just wants his world to himself". However, he said his twin sister, Rumi, reminded him more of Beyonce's sister Solange, who, while a performer like her sibling, prefers to keep more of a low profile. Though Beyonce, who is thought to be worth an eye-watering £600 million, enjoyed a hugely successful Renaissance World Tour two years ago, it seems she is struggling to sell tickets this time round and empty seats covered with blankets have been spotted in some stadiums during her gigs. Her latest album, Cowboy Carter, is taking her on a 32-city run across the US and Europe, visiting Los Angeles, Chicago, New Jersey, Paris, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, and Las Vegas.

Her latest album, Cowboy Carter, is taking her on a 32-city run across the US and Europe, visiting Los Angeles, Chicago, New Jersey, Paris, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, and Las Vegas. Surprisingly, the city with the most dates is London, where she will play six dates at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June. The news it hasn't been a sell out came as a shock, since her previous Renaissance World Tour brought in £388,560 million, making it the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist ever - with tickets selling out within minutes of going on sale. Beyoncé announced the tour in February 2025. However, fans immediately voiced their anger and frustration over the hefty prices, with some tickets reaching the thousands. One social media noted it was this that had put fans off, rather than Beyoncé herself. They wrote: "It's so funny that people are acting like the Cowboy Carter Tour not being sold out has anything to do with Beyoncé's cultural relevance when it's actually because the tickets cost a gazillion dollars." Another said: "I'm sorry but we need to talk about Beyoncé charging her fans over $1k (face value [by the way]) for pit tickets. And it's a standard ticket too like no perks at all, no merch, early entry like ???? ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FV [Face Value]?'
