Cara Delevingne on L'Oréal, Miu Miu and Her Bold Black Wig in Cannes
CANNES, France — Cara Delevingne stepped into the role of coiffure chameleon for her first red carpet as part of the L'Oréal Paris family. She wore a Miu Miu gown Wednesday night and stunned with a jet-black, short-fringed and surprising hair transformation. Alas, it was a wig — all in good fun to mix classic couture with a twist. '[The gown] was very kind of Princess Cinderella, obviously gorgeous and classic. But I wanted to take a bit of an edge to that and do something a bit different, a bit Joan of Arc. I wanted to take a risk.' The slick, wet punk style was a definitive departure from her natural blond locks. 'It was really special to do something like that when you have such an incredible, iconic, historic stage like that red carpet,' Delevingne added. She described her Cannes debut as part of the L'Oréal Paris family with heartfelt sincerity. 'It's been incredible so far,' she said. 'Getting to meet all the other ambassadors, some of whom are friends…a lot of those women are such inspirations to me and people I've always looked up to.' Among them are Viola Davis and Helen Mirren, who were also in town with the brand. Davis is the juror for the Light on Women's Worth Award, which honors women directors of short and student films. The prize is now in its fifth year, and Davis will hand out its top prize at a ceremony Friday evening. 'There is still such a discrepancy between female and male directors. Highlighting women who wouldn't be seen otherwise, especially by someone like Viola Davis — who's such an incredible icon — needs to happen more,' Delevingne said. The beauty brand backs up those efforts, she said. 'L'Oréal do such a great job of continuing that legacy,' she said. 'It's all about sisterhood and empowering each other.' Delevingne remains passionate about her acting future, following a transformative run in 'Cabaret' on London's West End. 'It was the best thing I've ever done. It gave me so much, not only creative fulfillment, but a belief in myself,' she said. 'I've never felt more proud of something. It's funny, the more I gave to it, the more it gave back to me. 'The intensity of live theater is unmatched. Whatever happens on stage happens. There isn't a reshoot, there isn't an edit, there isn't control over it. It's just you are that person that day.' It wasn't her first time on stage, she recalled. 'One of my earliest memories was being on stage in a school nativity play,' she said. 'But this was definitely very different than that. As an expression, there is nothing like theater. I don't think anything will ever exist in the same way for me.' While upcoming projects remain under wraps — 'exciting things' was all she would divulge — Delevingne will remain risk-taking on the red carpet. 'I like to have an edge with things, playing with androgyny. I think taking risks with fashion is always fun,' she said. She doesn't approach it as a costume or armor but an expression of her creativity, adding: 'What you see is what you get.' Cara Delevingne is in Malaysia and she's on a mission to save our tigers
Cara Delevingne is spending a week here as part of a conservation campaign focused on protecting Malaysia's iconic big cat. Photo: Cara Delevingne/Instagram Cara Delevingne is in Malaysia – but this time, it's not for a movie set or a fashion campaign. The British actress and model is here for a very different kind of mission: to help save the critically endangered Malayan tiger. Swapping her usual glam for a more grounded, jungle-ready look, Delevingne is spending a week here as part of a conservation campaign focused on protecting Malaysia's iconic big cat. And yes, she's documenting the journey on Instagram for her millions of followers to see. 'With just 150 wild Malayan tigers in Malaysia's jungles we must do everything we can to restore and conserve the dwindling population. 'Poachers have now become the deadliest predators in these forests, forests which are 130 million years old. They still hold just enough wild tigers to make saving them possible,' the caption read on Sunday. 'We must spread awareness and not let them be lost forever. Wild tigers can bounce back, if we let them,' she added. As part of her efforts to raise awareness and express hope for the future, Delevingne also shared glimpses of her visit to various locations. These included excursions into the rainforest and attending traditional cultural performances. Meanwhile, the comment section of her post was flooded with warm welcomes from Malaysian fans, who were excited about her visit and praised her commitment to the cause. One user, @ commented 'Welcome to Malaysia! Thank you for coming and raising awareness too.' Beloved Blonde Model Is Completely Unrecognizable On Cannes Red Carpet
Model Cara Delevingne looked completely unrecognizable on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet prior to attending the premiere of The History of Sound, a new film helmed by heartthrobs Gladiator II star Paul Mescal and Challengers star Josh O'Connor. Delevingne, 32, was photographed on the red carpet in the best that goth glam has to offer. She rocked a stunning deep red ball gown that complemented her grungy makeup, complete with smokey eyes and a stunning nude lip. But perhaps the most shocking element of the American Horror Story star's look was her hair. She donned a gorgeous dark brown wavy long bob that hit just at her collar bone — along with matching dark, thick eyebrows — but it was particularly styled in a wet look. Fashion and beauty aficionados will remember when Kim Kardashianattended the 2019 Met Gala with an entirely wet look, which also included her dark locks. Delevingne might not be committed to the bit with her entire look, but the wet hair really suits her well, as does the dark color. Seeing any longtime blonde go dark is always a fun change. That said, Delevingne has been reinventing herself in a major way over the last few years. In 2022, she entered a 12-step program to attempt sobriety after a longtime addiction to alcohol. She has seemingly been sober since completing that program and was even photographed looking happy and healthy at Coachella last month. In the images from the festival, Delevingne can be seen smiling and looking incredibly fresh-faced and healthy with her signature blonde locks flowing. The model has spoken out about working on herself — and her desire to be honest about what she's gone through — since beginning to live a sober lifestyle. "Whether it's been being vocal about anxiety, depression, recovery, anything, it's just you owe it to people to talk about your struggles, because being in this world is not perfect,' she admitted in an interview with Variety in May 2024. 'No one is perfect. So to be honest, it's the least I can do."
