Irish MMA star wins grudge fight as opponent taken to hospital on stretcher
Denis Frimpong left his opponent on a stretcher last weekend as he won his latest fight in Munich.
"The Menace" defeated Arijan Topallaj in the third round of action in the Oktagon MMA promotion in BMW Park.
He was put on the canvas in the early stages of the fight, but recovered to grind down his opponent, who had ran out of steam by the third round.
It is understood Topallaj was brought to hospital after the fight as a precaution, which ultimately showed no major injuries for the 26-year-old.
Frimpong said: "I respect Arijan, but I proved him wrong today.
"He said I didn't have any heart, he brought heart out of me, I didn't think he would, but I think I showed everyone that I do have heart."
The 30-year-old only started jiu-jitsu training at 22 years of age, and earned an Oktagon MMA contract in 2023.
The timing of this fight was almost costly, as he was at risk of missing the birth of his son in training camp.
He explained: "I want to thank my wife, she's nine months pregnant right now. Our due date is next week, I was risking coming out here and missing the birth of my son.
"So, she was very helpful and she was very supportive through this. I went through a lot in this camp and I was really worried that, as I said, I would miss the birth of my son.
"Thankfully it didn't happen, I came here got the win and made my wife proud."
Hopefully it is onwards and upwards for "The Menace" as he continues to make waves in the MMA scene.
