BDT & MSD's Piekarski Forms Real Estate Credit Firm Derby Lane
BDT & MSD Partners alum Adam Piekarski is starting anew and has formed Derby Lane Partners, a new real estate credit investment firm, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. New York-based Derby Lane is expected to begin investing a war chest of over $1 billion in the coming months, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. The firm plans to invest in senior, floating-rate mortgage loans.

'Glasgow's most Instagrammable bar' unveils sophisticated new look
A bar that was once hailed as Glasgow's most Instagrammable has undergone a full-scale refurbishment. Derby Lane, situated along Argyle Street in Finnieston, has unveiled a sophisticated new look, complete with a basement speakeasy. The makeover also includes an updated cocktail and wine menu, and a revamped all-day dining experience. (Image: Supplied) The popular day-time spot remains a favourite for brunches and laid-back dining, but transforms at night into a lively venue with live music, DJ sets, and a bustling cocktail scene. Derby Lane's new cocktail menu combines the creativity it has become known for, with timeless classics. READ MORE: The all-day dining menu has also been upgraded to include a Salt and Chilli Chicken French Toast along with favourites such as Steak Frites and Blackened Salmon. The bar also continues to serve its popular Frickles and expertly crafted martinis. (Image: Supplied) The refurbishment has also brought with it the launch of a new sports bar called Bar Brooklyn. The sports bar takes a speakeasy approach to its drinks list, blending classic cocktails with unexpected twists. (Image: Supplied) The Pizza Martini stands out, a bold reinvention of a Bloody Mary, featuring oregano-infused vodka, tomato, parmesan-infused vermouth, and basil oil. Derby Lane's ethos of elevated casual dining with indulgent classics is carried over to Bar Brooklyn's menu. The venue's operations manager, Camilla Bjørkestad, said: "Derby Lane has built a reputation as one of Glasgow's go-to destinations for creative cocktails and all-day dining. "With Bar Brooklyn, we wanted to create something completely different—a space with a grittier, more laid-back energy that speaks to a male-skewed audience while still delivering the quality and creativity we're known for. "We're confident that live sports, great food, and killer cocktails will bring something fresh to Finnieston."
