DWTS to feature male-male partnership?
'Dancing With The Stars' would consider an all-male partnership. Back in 2021, JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson made history as the first same-sex pairing on the reality TV dance show and producers are keen to continue to 'push the envelope'. Speaking about professional dancers Mark Ballas and Derek Hough, who performed a tango together on the show, executive producer Ryan O'Dowd told Deadline: 'It's great to do a dance like that in general, with the motivation behind it. Many people said to me they had no idea about the origins of the tango. And I had no idea that it did begin with two males. And so you've got to see an unbelievable performance, right? … I would say we are constantly looking at the ways by which we can push the envelope and produce a show that reflects and represents society as a whole. So I wouldn't rule it out. It's something that we're continuing to discuss.' Ryan added that he loves to 'do things that have never been done before' on 'DWTS'. He said: 'I love when we do things that have never been done before, like with Ilona Maher this past season became the first-ever female celebrity to lift her partner Alan Bursten. There was another moment when Whitney Carson and Danny Amendola had this very iconic leg lift. It's almost like a slow motion leg lift that became this massive viral sensation and people started trying to do it. I love when things are being done that go beyond the scope of the broadcast and into your everyday life.' And, Ryan believes the live nature of the show is one of its best assets. He said: 'I think live television is more important today than it ever has been. You're going to see a spectacle. With appointment television, anything can happen on any given night. Lights can go down, someone falls, an ankle monitor is revealed, you name it. Even we as producers don't know the outcome of anything that you're about to see. That's exciting and gets people talking. So I would really lean into that, along with the fact that we also don't have many pure entertainment formats that a family can watch. It's rare today that there's something for everyone. There's suspense each and every season.' 'Dancing With The Stars' is currently hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, with Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli as judges.

Dancing with the Stars season 34: Here's who's joining Robert Irwin in the ballroom
Dancing with the Stars has gathered a new lineup of celebrity guests, who will be shimmying and shaking their way onto season 34. In April, Robert Irwin, son of the late zookeeper Steve Irwin, became the first high-profile name to join the cast. The 21-year-old Australian TV star isn't the first in his family to compete on ABC's hit dancing competition series. His older sister Bindi, now 26, won the mirrorball trophy in 2015 with her professional ballroom partner, Derek Hough. Robert will now put his dance moves to the test on the show's forthcoming edition, scheduled to premiere sometime this fall. In a special announcement shared Wednesday, the wildlife conservationist teased the next star who will make their DWTS debut alongside him. On Thursday, social media star and model Alix Earle, 24, was announced as the second name on the call sheet. Speaking to Good Morning America hosts Lara Spencer and Michael Strahan about her forthcoming DWTS venture, the influencer revealed that she has a history of dancing, though not ballroom. 'So I'm excited to get back in there and start training,' Earle said, adding that she was looking forward to vlogging the whole experience for her followers. The full cast list isn't expected to be revealed until the season premiere nears. Season 34 of DWTS will welcome back co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, in addition to the returning judging panel made up of Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. The latest season saw former The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and his partner Jenna Johnson coast through the competition to win the coveted mirrorball trophy. Olympic rugby star Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten came in second, followed closely by Disney star Chandler Kinney and partner Brandon Armstrong, who placed third. Maher's win over Kinney, however, left several viewers fuming, as many felt the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin actor had outperformed the athlete in both of the final dances. That wasn't the only controversial decision to cause fan upheaval. In fact, earlier that season, many were outraged by the shocking elimination of Bachelorette star Jenn Tran in week seven. While Tran had finished the night tied with retired NBA star Dwight Howard, it was the former who ended up getting cut. Howard was ultimately eliminated the week after.

'Dancing with the Stars' 2025: Robert Irwin confirmed as 1st cast member
Another season of Dancing with the Stars is on the way — and ABC has already announced its first celebrity dancer. Robert Irwin, 21, will be joining the competition, following in the footsteps of his sister Bindi, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015 with her dancing partner, Derek Hough. Their father was famed Australian conservationist Steve Irwin, known as the 'Crocodile Hunter,' who was killed by a stingray at 44 years old in 2006. Dancing with the Stars wrapped another successful season on ABC this past fall, ranking as the top show among adults 18 to 49 in Live+Same Day viewing, Deadline reported. Season 33 broke several records and crowned The Bachelor alum Joey Graziadei and professional Jenna Johnson as the winners. ABC hasn't announced when the latest season of Dancing with the Stars will premiere, but the new season is expected to start sometime in mid- to late September. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro will return as hosts, while Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will return as judges. The show will air live on ABC and Disney+ and be available for streaming the next day on Hulu. Here's who has been cast for the upcoming season. Irwin is a wildlife conservationist like his dad and lives in Australia. He, along with his mom and sister, works with wildlife at the Australia Zoo. 'All I can say is, crikey! Holy moly,' Irwin said at Hulu's Get Real event on Tuesday. In true Irwin fashion, he had a snake around his neck. "I cannot tell you what a privilege, what an honor it is to be joining this season.' 'This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid watching my sister's incredible journey on the show,' Irwin posted on Instagram. 'I cannot believe it is about to become a reality. So grateful.'
