Midsomer Murders star pays tribute to 'lovely' Neil Dudgeon after show exit
Midsomer Murders stalwart Daniel Casey, who played Sergeant Gavin Troy in the ITV crime drama, has opened up about the possibility of returning to the series after two decades Midsomer Murders star Daniel Casey, best known as Sergeant Gavin Troy, the original deputy in the hit ITV series, has left fans buzzing with the possibility of a sensational return to the show. Daniel, who starred opposite John Nettles' DCI Tom Barnaby from 1997 until 2003, exited the programme when his character was promoted to Detective Inspector and moved on. Though John left the series in 2011, replaced by Neil Dudgeon as the new DCI John Barnaby, the allure of the show remains strong with Daniel as the 25th series goes into production. Speaking exclusively to he sparked excitement about potentially resuming his beloved role, saying: "It really hadn't occurred to me, but I would be open to everything, really, and the show is so well loved still." Daniel fondly reminisced over his memorable return for an episode: "I returned once when Cully got married, and that was great." His dramatic reappearance on the show made a lasting impression: "I loved my entrance. Coming flying off the road and crashing into the trees and walking out of the wreckage to see John standing there was just brilliant." Remaining hopeful about another comeback, he playfully suggested, "So yeah, never say never, that would be a lovely idea, wouldn't it?" as noted by the Express. He also commended the work of Neil Dudgeon, the show's current lead, adding: "Neil Dudgeon is such a lovely fella and does such a beautiful job." Earlier this year, there was additional excitement among fans as rumours circulated that Daniel would reprise his role as DCI Tom Barnaby for a special theatre production titled Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger's Drift, which will tour around the UK. He had previously stated: "I never expected to revisit the world of Midsomer, with its weird and wonderful characters and all their dark, twisted secrets," as reported by the Daily Mirror. "So to be asked to play the iconic role of Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby in this new stage adaptation of The Killings at Badger's Drift was a real surprise. Workshopping the play, you realise the characters have an inherent theatricality, which is perfect to bring to the stage." He further added: "It has brought back some wonderful memories of such a happy time in my career playing Sergeant Troy and the fantastic time I had working with the amazing John Nettles and to be stepping into his shoes as Barnaby is both a little daunting and incredibly exciting."

Prisoner on the run after breaking out of Qld correctional facility in a tractor
A prisoner is on the run after a shock tractor escape from a correctional facility in Far North Queensland on Sunday morning. Michael Graeme Rennie, 43, is serving a six-year, three-month sentence for serious assault, motor vehicle offences, theft and burglary, and drugs and weapons offences, at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre in Atherton. He escaped while working on the prison farm. Rennie was last seen driving a red Massey tractor with an attached bucket. Queensland Police Detective Inspector Jason Chetham told a press conference that it was understood Rennie escaped the facility using the tractor. '(Rennie) was last seen at about 10.20am yesterday (Sunday) morning and discovered missing in a headcount just before midday yesterday afternoon,' Inspector Chetham said on Monday. 'We believe he was conducting duties at the correctional centre using a red Massey tractor and that tractor is also unaccounted for, so we believe he may well have left the facility with that tractor.' The headcount was conducted at 11.55am, about an hour and a half after Rennie was last seen on the facility. Inspector Chetham has asked the public to contact the police if they have any information on his whereabouts. 'We don't have any specific concerns on what he might do in the community, not targeting anyone, but we're certainly asked people not to approach him and call us immediately if they have any information,' he said. 'He's from Far North Queensland, so he doesn't have to get far to see the family. so that's an angle we're running here. 'The Tablelands is an agricultural centre, so tractors on the road are something, I don't think, will turn a lot of heads, but we're keen to find it anyway'. The Lotus Glen Correctional Centre offers programs in the fields of both farming and industry to equip inmates with skills in preparation for their release. Police have warned the public to not approach Rennie if seen and to immediately contact authorities. Rennie is described having fair hair and complexion with blue eyes, with a light build standing at 174cm and weighing 56kg. He also has several body markings, including a gun tattoo on his left shoulder, a dragon and skull on his right shoulder, a screamer on his top shoulder blade, a clown with a gun on his left ribs, the letters 'SMP', a gargoyle, a demon holding a skull with horn and three names on his left arm, multiple dog bites and scars on his left arm, and on his right arm, a Celtic design, skull clown, full sleeve on his forearm and knuckle dusters. The lower half of his body includes a knee to ankle brick wall, panther, anarchy sign, skull, four headstones, clown face and eight ball on his left leg, a Celtic sleeve on his outside right calf, a star on his right foot, and a joker with crown on the side of his right knee. Anyone with information is urged to contact Policelink through the online suspicious activity form, which operates 24 hours per day or call 131 444.

Police believe 'critical, relevant' information withheld in Wellington homicide probe
Police had been called to a nearby home invasion minutes earlier. Photo: RNZ / REECE BAKER Police say people linked to an address of interest in the homicide of Wellington man Abdulhassan Nabizadah may be withholding "critical and relevant" information. Nabizadah, 63, was found critically injured on a street corner in the suburb of Miramar in the early hours of 17 March, minutes after police were called to a home invasion just blocks away on Darlington Road. Nabizadah died in hospital the next day. Last month, police said the investigation had identified an address close to the Camperdown Road scene, where Nabizadah was found. They said several people of interest to the investigation were visiting at the time of the two incidents . On Thursday, Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard said police had spoken to those people, but did not believe they had the full story. "Some are reluctant to share information that we believe is critical and which would assist our investigation," Pritchard said. "We urge them to share that vital information with us, so Mr Nabizadah's family can get the answers and the justice they deserve." Pritchard said the investigation was "very much active". He said detectives were following "every lead available to us", and continued to collect and analyse information relating to the case. A cellphone found at the Darlington Road scene contained communications with Nabizadah and, last month, Pritchard said Nabizadah was believed to have been assaulted and robbed on the corner where he was found. A 28-year-old man was later arrested and charged with aggravated burglary in relation to the Darlington Road incident, and appeared in court on 27 March. Pritchard wouldn't answer questions on the burglary, while the matter was before the court. He urged anyone with information to contact police, referencing Operation Celtic.
