Man deliberately hit by car in Dumfries attempted murder
Detectives are appealing for information after a 28-year-old man was deliberately hit by a car in are treating the incident as attempted man was struck by the car on Criffel Road, near Lincluden Road, at about 23:20 on was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries. The car and its occupants left the scene, heading towards College Road and onto Newbridge have so far established that a silver-coloured, five-door VW Golf with tinted rear windows was in the area at the Insp Scott Wilson said: "Extensive inquiries are ongoing and we have been gathering CCTV footage from the surrounding area, which is being reviewed."Officers have also been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the local area and will continue to do so."But I would also be very keen to speak anyone who was in the area at the time or has seen the car since then and may be able to assist our investigation."He added: "I would also like to hear from anyone who has dashcam, private CCTV or doorbell footage from the Lincluden area around the time of the incident."Any information, or footage, could prove vital, so please do pass it on to officers."

Man carrying 1-year-old child struck by car crossing Baymeadows Road, both die
A man and the 1-year-old child he was carrying are both dead after they were struck by a car Friday night crossing Baymeadows Road. They were crossing in the 4100 block at about 8:30 p.m., a Jacksonville police news release states. BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The fourth Salute to Community Heroes event recognized 17 finalists and named seven community heroes for their daily efforts to improve the community's lives. The Bossier Chamber of Commerce (BCC) nominees come from the sectors of education, healthcare, non-profit, military, and law enforcement. Captain Allen has served in the United States Military for 28 years, and as a Training Officer and Training Station Captain. 'Mark was diagnosed with cancer and is unable to return to the job that he loves. Still, despite this hardship, his unwavering character and determination continue to inspire everyone who meets him.' John Atkins – Atco Investment Co.: Atkins is a partner at Atco Investment Company, Louisiana Timber Partners, and is a civic leader for Air Force Global Strike Command. He also serves as the District 9 Commissioner for Caddo Parish. Dr. Kevin Baxter – Louisiana State University Shreveport: 'Dr. Kevin Baxter is a department Chair and program Director at LSUS for their only doctorate program, focused on developing leaders. Dr. Baxter served for 20 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard, and he worked as a law enforcement officer for Bossier City PD and as a trooper for the Louisiana State Police.' SFD looks to end aid agreement with Caddo Fire District 5 Kenny Gallon and Danny 'Bo' Turner – Bossier City Police Dept.: 'Responding to a shots fired call, Officers Bo Turner and Kenny Gallon of the Bossier City Police Department arrived at a Valero gas station. While responding to the call, Officer Gallon was fired upon and struck multiple times by the suspect, nearly giving the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. One day, her daughter asked if Tiffany would be willing to help develop a partnership with Willis Knighton to expand the Medical Detectives program. Tiffany agreed and worked alongside the ER leadership team to secure funding, equipment, and coordinate a hands-on field trip so that the students at North Desoto could learn about healthcare from medical professionals at their place of work. Tiffany stepped up for her daughter and helped to create a program that has taught dozens of middle school students about the medical world.' WA Police hunting people seen breaking into Ballajura home
Police received reports of two juvenile boys breaking into a home on Lae Court about 3.30pm on Sunday. Police received reports of two juvenile boys breaking into a home on Lae Court about 3.30pm on Sunday. 'A short time later, a black 4WD arrived at the same residence, with a group of unknown persons exiting the vehicle,' police said in a media statement. 'They were seen to be removing property items from the premises.' Midland Detectives are investigating the incident and are asking anyone who can help identify the people or locate the vehicle, believed to be a black Ford Territory wagon, to contact police. Anyone with information or vision of the incident is urged to report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.

Torch Theatre in Milford Haven announces summer schools
The theatre has gained a reputation over the years for its summer holiday activities for children and young people. Now, with its adult school, the Torch caters to everyone aged seven and over. The summer schools are designed to fill August with exciting activities and memories to last a lifetime. Tim Howe, senior manager of youth and community at the Torch, who creates and runs the summer schools, said: "Come and join the fun-packed creative sessions which include performing in our studio theatre for family and friends. "We've got opportunities for adults and children to get inspired and to be artistic. "With danger in the land of make believe, putting on a play in a week, and a whole range of writing, performing and direction skills being explored, we know there's something for everyone." Mr Howe added: "Led by professionals with world-wide reputations and training at the top drama schools, our summer schools are open to everyone. "There's no audition necessary and you don't even have to have any previous experience. "We aim to make reasonable adjustments to our delivery to ensure that each activity provides the best fit for everyone, so that you can make the most of your experiences." The summer schools comprise of Dramatic Detectives for Year 3 to Year 6 (ages 7 – 11), Playmakers for Year 7 to Year 13 (ages 11-18), and Show Off! for ages 18 and above. Dramatic Detectives involves creative play and storytelling to solve a series of strange crimes in the land of make believe. Sessions are run daily from 10am to 3pm, Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8. Playmakers challenges participants to learn a play in a week, with involvement in all creative decisions. It runs from 10am to 4pm, Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15. Show Off! is an adult summer school for both novices and those wanting to brush up on their skills. Weekly evening sessions conclude with a showcase performance in the studio theatre. Sessions are from 6.30pm to 9pm, Thursday, August 7, 14, 21, and 28, with the showcase performance on Saturday, August 30. Mr Howe concluded: "Our summer schools are incredibly popular so book early to avoid disappointment.
