Auburn Tigers football: Deuce Knight 2025 player profile

Knight is ready to prove himself as a quality starting QB in the SEC. Auburn landed its quarterback of the future in its 2025 haul in Mississippi dual-threat Deuce Knight. Knight signed with Auburn as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, flipping his pledge from Notre Dame to the Tigers last October. Early analysis from Andrew Ivins of 247Sports suggests that Knight is great at challenging opposing defenses with his left-handed passing ability. Owns a smoother stroke and can rip the ball on tight lines to the second and third levels, but accuracy can vary and hamper drives. At his best when moving left and looking to attack the perimeter as he excels at connecting on out-breaking routes at or past the sticks. Can also challenge a defense vertically with his arm strength, but needs to get better at playing from a structured environment and working through his reads. Here is a look at Knight's 2025 player profile as he prepares to compete for the starting quarterback job. Auburn QB Deuce Knight is leading the recruiting push for five-star WR Cederian Morgan

Auburn QB Deuce Knight is leading the recruiting push for five-star WR Cederian Morgan There is no greater factor in Auburn's pursuit of Cederian Morgan than freshman QB Deuce Knight. Auburn football is aiming to land the No. 1 player from Alabama in the 2026 cycle, and it is using its prized freshman quarterback as its weapon. Five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan took his official visit to Auburn over the weekend, where he spent time with current players and worked on developing his connection to wide receivers coach Marcus Davis and head coach Hugh Freeze. Freeze and Davis have been active in recruiting Morgan for quite some time; however, the recruiter who has been on Morgan "the most" is freshman quarterback Deuce Knight. "I know Deuce (Knight) is a great quarterback who can give me the ball however I need it, so that'll be a big plus for me. I think if I did come, I'm probably going to get a year with Deuce, two years with Deuce, something like that, and then it'll be next up," Morgan said in an interview with Auburn Undercover. "So kind of both. Looking to who's here in my class and what other players in my class are going to be here, because our junior and maybe senior year, that's who we're really going to be, the team is going to be around." According to both 247Sports and On3, Auburn and Alabama are the top contenders for Morgan ahead of his July 2 commitment date. According to his quote to Auburn Undercover, Auburn's recruiting haul may be the deciding factor in whether he comes to the Plains. Auburn is currently No. 55 in the 247Sports 2026 rankings, so a few commitments from strong offensive weapons could ultimately sway him to Auburn. Auburn freshman quarterback draws strong NFL comparison

Incoming Auburn freshman quarterback Deuce Knight has been in the spotlight of Tiger fan's stage for nearly two calendar years now due to his prowess as a high school prospect and 'Goldielocks' commitment cycle. With this five-star ranking and high school accolades, Knight is expected to lead a struggling Auburn program out of the mosh pit of mediocrity as soon as next season. Those expectations, which have seemingly only gotten higher with every passing week of the offseason, may have reached a new height this week. Knight was recently included on Rivals insider Adam Gorney's 'NFL Comparisons' list for high school recruits in 2025. Gorney, who compared 10 five-star recruits set to make their debut next season to current NFL stars, listed Knight next to former Washington Huskie turned first round pick Michael Penix Jr. Penix Jr. was drafted by the Falcons in 2024 after a very successful college career at Indiana and Washington. The left-handed signal-caller led the Huskies all the way to the National Championship in 2023, but lost to Michigan in the title game. Penix finished as a Heisman finalist that season, throwing for a college football-best 4,903 yards to go along with 36 touchdowns. Over the course of his six collegiate seasons, the 24-year-old threw 96 touchdown passes, including 67 during his two years in Washington. Those numbers, and a near-Heisman Trophy and National Championship, are heavy expectations to live up to. We'll see if Knight can come close to the production of his NFL comparison counterpart, although his time to shine may not come until next season with Jackson Arnold all-but-certain to earn the starting quarterback job in 2025.
