Railway board chief inspects stations to assess preparedness

Nashik: Satish Kumar, the chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, inspected Nashik Road, Devlali, Odha, Kherwadi, and Kasbe Sukene railway stations to assess preparedness for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, focusing on cleanliness, passenger amenities, track fitness, infrastructural upgrades, and overall station readiness. He was accompanied by Dharam Veer Meena, the general manager of Central Railway, Punit Agarwal, the divisional railway manager of Bhusawal, and other senior officers from Central Railway headquarters and Bhusawal division. Following the inspection, a high-level meeting was held with officers from state govt to discuss planning and coordination for the mega event. The discussions emphasised inter-agency cooperation and the timely execution of infrastructure works. Topics covered included crowd management strategies, transport integration, and execution timelines. Joint action plans were proposed to ensure the smooth and safe handling of the expected massive footfall during the Kumbh Mela. Meanwhile, members of the Monthly Pass Holders and Passenger Welfare Association in Nashik requested Kumar to introduce a new train from Nashik Road to Pune via Kalyan, with a 5.30am departure time from Nashik Road. They also sought the extension of the Manmad-Kachheguda Ajantha Express up to Nashik Road to directly connect two religious places.
