The best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a day in the sun

While it can be relaxing to sit by the pool and sip on beverages, there's nothing better than putting your feet in warm sand. If you're looking for the best beaches in Abu Dhabi, we have you covered. Abu Dhabi might be a bustling city with glamorous skyscrapers and breathtaking architecture, but it also makes for the perfect sun, sea and sand destination thanks to its beautiful beaches. Whether you're a resident in the city or a tourist, you can spend your days dipping in and out of crystal-clear oceans and soaking up the sun, enjoy evenings watching a picturesque sunset over the Arabian Sea or be the life of the party at one of Abu Dhabi's popular beach clubs. The capital is home to an array of both private and public beaches that are all worth a visit. Here are the best beaches in Abu Dhabi. Al Maya Island & Resort If you want to relax but also like a party atmosphere then this could be ideal: Al Maya has one of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a party. Especially for the ladies, who get to go free if they arrive before 3pm all week. Catch a boat from a dock next to the Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana and then take a 20-minute jaunt over to this resort. On weekends there's a party atmosphere where you can lie on one of the many sun loungers, sit around the poolside bar, hit the dance floor and party to tunes being spun by top DJs, or jump into the massive pool and socialise around the swim-up bar. Dhs200 (weekdays) Dhs250 (weekends and public holidays). Open Sun-Fri, 10am-8pm, (02 667 7777 ). Al Bateen With stunning views of Hudayriat Island and the bridge, Al Bateen Beach caters to everyone. There are locals, residents and tourists and because of its calm, shallow waters and a prestigious Blue Flag sustainability award by the Emirates Wildlife Authority, it's a great option for families too. There are also several food and beverage outlets, volleyball courts, sports activities, washrooms, changing rooms and showers. Free. Open daily 8am-sunset. Al Bateen Beach, Khalifa Al Mubarak Street, off Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street. Corniche beach You've probably driven past it lots of times but have you ever spent a day on the beach on the Corniche? It's one of the best beaches in Abu Dhabi for a quick trip. The pristine beachfront is a fantastic family spot on which to enjoy a relaxed day. The seaside boardwalk is four miles long and the walkways are paved and dotted with benches and gardens that overlook the ocean. Surrounding the Corniche beach there are children's play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants. Dhs10 for adults and Dh5 for kids over five, Dhs25 per sun lounger. Open daily 8am-8pm. Corniche Rd. Kai Beach Saadiyat Looking for the best beach not just in Abu Dhabi but the whole of the Middle East? Well, you are in luck because it happens to be right here on our doorstep. The dreamy Saadiyat Island was named 'Middle East's Leading Beach Destination' for the 11th consecutive year in 2024 (yes, 11 years) and Kai Beach happens to be one of the beaches on Saadiyat's shores. Open daily from 7am to sunset, there are no reservations and entry is on a first come first served basis. Dhs150 (adults, Mon-Thu, Dhs50 redeemable on F&B), Dhs75 (kids, Mon-Thu, Dhs25 redeemable on F&B), Dhs150 (Fri, ladies only), Dhs225 (adults, Sat-Sun, Dhs50 redeemable on F&B), Dhs100 (kids, Sat-Sun, Dhs25 redeemable on F&B). Open daily 7amsunset. Kai Beach, Saadiyat Island, Hudayriat Beach Located in Hudayriat Island, this beach keeps getting better and better. There are plenty of food trucks and restaurants around for when hunger strikes (Wingstop, W.T.F. and Shrimp Pot are just some of the options), plus plenty of fun activities for kids and adults alike. We're talking kids' pool and a splash park, a volleyball court, an outdoor gym and cycle paths. Oh, and did we mention it's free? Yep, pretty awesome. Free. Open daily 8am to 7pm. Hudayriat Beach, Hudayriat Island, @marsanahudayriyat. Mamsha Beach Saadiyat Island (formerly Soul Beach) Soul Beach closed for refurbishment earlier this year and, in the words of the T-Swift, she can't come to the phone because… it now answers to Mamsha Beach Saadiyat Island (which makes sense since it's on – you guessed it – Mamsha). An easy choice when you want a day of complete beach bliss, it boasts powdery white sand and Saadiyat blues – what more could you ask for? Not only will you get a 10/10 beach day but you also have some pretty good restaurants within walking distance. There's Pickl for a great burger, Italian favourite Antonia (the winner for best Casual Dining at the Time out Abu Dhabi Awards 2025), Niri (the winner for Best Japanese at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards 2025) and TOTÓ (highly commended), Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Nadal's first restaurant in the capital. Open daily 8am-sunset. Mamsha Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Island. @mamshabeachsaadiyat (050 929 0936). Marsana Beach There are two Marsana beaches to pick from: East and West. Marsana East opened recently and it offers premium amenities for Dhs50 on weekdays and Dhs100 on the weekends. Marsana West offers a cheaper alternative – Dhs25 on weekdays and Dhs50 on weekends. They're both located on Hudayriat Island, right next to free Hudayriat Beach. From Dhs25. Open daily 8am to 7pm. Marsana Beach, Hudayriat Island, @marsanahudayriyat. Yas Beach Styling itself as a 'beach playground' big on beats and brunches, Yas Beach is a must-visit spot – especially because of its prime location to watch the sunset. The club is home to restaurants and a bar, as well as being a spot to enjoy plenty of watersports. There's a fee to get in, but it's also free if you're staying at any of the hotels on Yas Island. Open daily 10am-7pm. Dhs80 (adults, Mon-Thu), Dhs150 (adults Fri-Sun, public holidays), free (kids 11 and under when with an adult). Yas Beach, Yas Island. @ (056 242 0435). Review: Barbassi in Abu Dhabi

The midday break you've been dreaming of… F rom the minds behind the capital's favourite pizza, Marmellata, Barbassi is a canteen-style eatery that's made its place in a subtle corner of Mina Zayed's creative Madar39 neighbourhood. This sandwich-focused cafeteria arrives at M39 with all the warmth and flavour-packed flair we've come to expect from the Dagstanis and their crew. We're told Barbassi refers to an Italian herb, but this particular snack bar is named after owner Raj's son – Sebastian 'Bassi' Dagstani. Whether you're grabbing a sandwich between meetings or catching up over a coffee, this restaurant delivers, and delivers well – with speed, quality, and of course, taste, serving up a winning trifecta. Barbassi is cosy, warm, and welcoming. With long, wooden counters, a strategic splattering of wallpaper, homely hues and minimalistic design, it's really only enough room to slip in, make your order, exchange pleasantries, and sit down for a quick bite before you're back to the hustle. But it's in those few minutes that you'll notice the quiet elements of their design. In true creative neighbourhood fashion, there's also a small corner that has Barbassi-themed merch up for sale – crew neck shirts, baseball hats – much like the clothing the crew themselves wear. Images: supplied The menu is a clear extension of Marmellata's ethos: simple, honest food using high quality, ethically sourced ingredients. You'll find familiar favourites like truffle honey, salami, roast beef, and pickled veggies making delicious reappearances, but tucked into fluffy focaccia sandwiches this time around. For only Dhs25, the olive, tomato, and oregano focaccia is a standout, as is the lemon, olive and thyme – both humble, but packed with flavour. If you're feeling hungrier, their Dhs45 focaccia sandwiches pack a bigger punch. Options such as the melted ham and cheese with veal rump and mustard pickle are indulgent and satisfying, while the roasted mushroom focaccia with truffle labneh is a meat-free masterpiece. Yes, they agree a mid-day pick-me-up would be incomplete without its selection of coffees, so make sure to grab a cuppa Joe – capuccinos, lattes, they pour it all. And if a sugary supercharge is what you need, the Hein's orange and almond cake at Dhs20 is what you need. Wash it all down with the Fountain of Youth, that you just might spot behind the counter as you're placing your order. It's become a bit of a custom for the What's On Abu Dhabi crew to get the chef to sign a copy of the menu, when we visit a great new spot for the first time. Respect, gratitude, one for the memoirs. In his signature style, Raj shrugs it off and reluctantly accepts our Sharpie, before signing La Carte with a 'Thank you – always, always, always'. Big surprise. What's On verdict: This culinary pitstop is a slice of Abu Dhabi's creative soul. Father fined after son riding electric bike jumps red light and collides with woman's car

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a father to pay Dhs2,380 in compensation to a woman who sustained a traffic accident caused by his son. The son, riding an electric bike, jumped a red light and collided with the woman's vehicle, owned by her sister, resulting in material and moral damages. The woman filed a lawsuit demanding Dhs25,592 for vehicle repair costs and additional Dhs26,592 as compensation for damages, along with 12% legal interest from the date of the lawsuit until full payment. The court reviewed an expert report, which stated that the vehicle repairs took three days, with a daily rental cost of Dhs90 for a replacement car, totaling Dhs270, and repair costs amounted to Dhs1,850, and towing expenses from the accident site to the workshop were Dhs157, with additional fees bringing the total to Dhs2,380. The court consequently ruled that the father, as the guardian, is liable for his son's actions and ordered him to pay the total amount of Dhs2,380 to the plaintiff.

Abu Dhabi man told to return Dhs25,262 he fraudulently used through another person's credit card

The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court obligated a person to return Dhs25,262 to another man and fined him Dhs3,000 after the former used the latter's credit card to buy tickets to a UAE museum via the Google search engine. After the amount had been deducted from his account, the victim learned that he was a victim of fraud and consequently filed a lawsuit against the defendant, who was convicted of embezzlement. Under the lawsuit he filed, the plaintiff requesting the court to obligate the defendant to pay him Dhs51,000 as the value of the financial claim plus a compensation for the material and psychological harms he sustained and settle the incurred fees and expenses. As evidence of his lawsuit, the plaintiff submitted photocopies of the referral decision from the Alternative Dispute Resolution Department and the verdict issued in a previous lawsuit in which the defendant was convicted in absentia and fined Dhs30,000. The plaintiff pleaded that the defendant embezzled money from his credit card to buy tickets for a UAE museum, adding that he later received a one-time password and Dhs25,262 was deducted from his account with Abu Dhabi bank. He then learned that he was a victim of fraud and consequently filed a lawsuit under which the defendant was convicted of embezzlement. The plaintiff stated that as he suffered material and moral harms in his personal life, given that he was the sole breadwinner for his family, was undergoing medical treatment and needed money to pay to his bank, he was prompted to file the present lawsuit. The court explained that it was evident that the defendant was convicted of illegally using the data of the plaintiff's credit card with the intention of embezzling a sum of money owned by the plaintiff through an information technology means, as stated in the papers. Further investigations showed that the beneficiary of the purchases made via the plaintiff's credit card was the defendant and that there was no relationship between the two parties. As the defendant appeared before the court but did not provide evidence that he had returned the amount, the court ruled that he be obligated to return the amount claimed. As far as the request for compensation is concerned, the court stated that the defendant had committed an error by unlawfully embezzling the amounts claimed, which resulted in material harm on the part of the plaintiff. Taking into consideration the moral harms that the plaintiff sustained due to what the defendant did as embodied by grief and sorrow, the court estimated the compensation due to be paid by the defendant to the plaintiff at Dhs3,000.
