Patient sparks outrage with photo of upsetting sighting inside doctor's office: 'Pathetic'
One Redditor stirred up discussion by sharing a dystopian device hanging on the wall in an exam room. A for-profit medical system has hobbled the United States for decades. In the 1980s, it was christened the medical industrial complex; the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health describes this as "the aggressive entry into medicine of for-profit entities with shareholders." Unfortunately, one patient had to contend with one of the tendrils of this complex. In a post, they shared a photo from their doctor's office, writing, "The exam room in my doctor's office has rolling advertisements for drugs." Advertising for medications is rampant on television. According to Digiday, "Prescription drug brands collectively accounted for 13%" of TV ads in 2025. One study published in Prevention Science examined how marketing may have a negative impact on human health. It determined that certain industries, including the pharmaceutical sector, "promote harmful products but also obscure their negative health impacts to avoid regulatory scrutiny." With the nature of American health care, it can be challenging to get quality care and an attentive doctor. When you are also bombarded with advertising about medications and cures, it can erode your understanding of your own health. Other users jumped in to add their experiences and complaints. "I'm impressed. I didn't think healthcare in the U.S. could be more pathetic," one person wrote. Someone else explained how their doctor had been corrupted: "The check-in app has ads too. They change the color of the buttons so you can easily get in a cycle of the same two pages. Most patients are older, so the front desk has to do it for them." Another commenter suggested a little vandalism, saying, "I'm not usually an advocate for the destruction of property, but the power cord is clearly visible and in cutting range." Yahoo Creators platform hits record revenue as publisher bets big on influencer-led content
Yahoo's bet on creator-led content appears to be paying off. Yahoo Creators, the media company's publishing platform for creators, had its most lucrative month yet in June. Launched in March 2024, Yahoo Creators was built to capitalize on the growing appetite for personality-driven content. Now, a little more than a year in, the platform is gaining momentum: Last month marked its highest revenue and engagement levels since launch, a spokesperson told Digiday. Historically, Yahoo has aggregated stories from around the web and produced original journalism through its in-house newsroom. Now it's also staking its claim in the creator economy. According to Digiday, the program currently includes 135 lifestyle-focused creators, whose work is featured prominently on Yahoo's homepage. There's a dedicated creator vertical, and creator content is woven throughout the Yahoo app and newsletters, appearing alongside articles from traditional publishers. There's even a waiting list of influencers eager to join. Selected creators have access to monetization tools, affiliate commerce, and audience analytics in exchange for posting on the platform. While the program focuses mainly on written content, creators can embed audio and video. Yahoo offers a 50-50 split on ad revenue—comparable to platforms like Substack and YouTube. 'We hear consistently that people want to get their news from other people,' Kat Downs Mulder, senior vice president and general manager of Yahoo News, previously told Fast Company. 'They have institutions they trust, but they also really want connections. . . . In addition to the publisher network that we have, and the journalists that we have in-house, creators would add an additional dimension to that content. And so it would really help us to flesh out that whole ecosystem of content as we really look to become the world's best guide to the internet.' Since launch, revenue, engagement, and feedback have all been positive. 'Yahoo's new media model is wild (and maybe genius),' Michelle Songy, founder of Press Hook, posted on LinkedIn last month. 'Legacy media is finally taking notes from creators, and honestly, I'm here for it.'

Is DJ Khaled getting his own radio station in GTA 6?
Published February 19th, 2025 - 06:55 GMT ALBAWABA - Rumor has it that popular American record producer DJ Khaled is reportedly getting his own radio station inside one of the most anticipated video games of 2025, GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI), sparking widespread debate and speculation about the leak's authenticity. According to Dexerto, the rumor was revealed by a reputable Call of Duty leaker on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) named, "TheGhostOfHope." — Dexerto (@Dexerto) February 18, 2025 The radio station will reportedly only play the record producer's music. Upon hearing about the rumors in question, GTA 6 fans took to several social media platforms and expressed their mixed reactions with some stating that they dislike DJ Khaled's music. A user on Musk's X wrote, "I hope this statement is a lie, I don't want to hear his voice in GTA 6 at all." Another added, "This will be the most annoying radio channel in the game." Recent rumors also indicate that Rockstar Games reportedly met with Roblox and Fortnite content creators to delve into user-generated content including custom game modes, giving its players the freedom of creation and expression, according to Digiday. Digiday also reported that there are "three industry insiders with knowledge of these meetings." GTA 6 is gearing up to be the most anticipated video game of the decade, but while the excitement is as high as ever, fans of the popular open-world franchise still await its release date. Aimed to release in late 2025, the game will first hit consoles including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As it's always been, PC players and their mods will have to unfortunately wait longer until further notice from Rockstar and TakeTwo. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (
