Prasert Honours Smart Farming Innovators at OTOD#2
Bangkok, August 7, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE) Mr Prasert Jantararuangtong recently presented awards to winning community groups and enterprises at the Digital Agriculture Final Pitching Day, a highlight of the 'One Tambon One Digital' (OTOD#2) project. The event recognised innovation and practical application of smart farming technologies, reinforcing government support for digital transformation in agriculture.
The OTOD#2 initiative aims to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and boost farmers' incomes through three key technologies: agricultural drones, smart tractors, and IoT for smart farming. The programme, administered by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), is expected to generate over 500 million baht in annual economic value.
The final competition brought together over 500 qualifying teams from across five Thai regions. Awards were granted in two categories—Community Group Technology Application and Community Business Development—with up to 200,000 baht in funding per project. Six outstanding teams also received additional prizes.
Mr Prasert affirmed the government's commitment to building a resilient agricultural sector through digital innovation. 'Thai farmers are full of talent and potential. With the right support, they can achieve stable, sustainable growth.'
depa President and CEO Asst. Prof. Dr Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin noted that OTOD#2 has exceeded targets, with over 550,000 participants engaged in online learning and more than 1,300 completing intensive training. 'The programme empowers communities to adopt standardised digital technologies and thrive in the digital economy.'
The event also featured demonstrations and panel discussions, equipping farmers and local technicians with actionable insights. Looking ahead, depa will continue driving progress through initiatives like OTOD AI Transformation for the Nation and OTOD Digital Durian.
