Emmerdale's Geoff Dignan has filmed his final soap scenes

Geoff Dignan, who plays Aidan Moore, has seen his character suffer at the hands of villain John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in recent weeks. Fans were left shocked as John, who was previously engaged to Aidan, visited him at hospital and told him how he planned to kill him. Aidan woke from his coma to hear John, and the stress caused him to suffer a cardiac arrest and go back into a coma. Although he didn't die, fans were left wondering if his days in the Dales were numbered. I had an absolute blast playing Aidan Moore in #emmerdale I've met great people from the crew to the very talented you to my agent @StarkTalentUK Who knows what's in store 4 Aidan, after all it is Emmerdale, he's woke up once… why not one more time 👀🤣 #wakeupAidan — Geoff Dignan (@geoffdiggers) June 2, 2025 Now, Geoff has confirmed it's the end of Aidan's story - for now. Taking to his X account, the actor shared screenshots of his scenes from last week, along with the caption: "I had an absolute blast playing Aidan Moore in Emmerdale. "I've met great people from the crew to the very talented cast. Thank you to my agent @StarkTalentUK." However, Geoff teased that the character could maybe be back in the future, as he added: "Who knows what's in store 4 Aidan, after all it's Emmerdale, he's woken up once... why not one more time." Emmerdale spoilers John's secrets continue to be unearthed next week, but will he get the comeuppance he deserves? Tensions explode as everyone speculates over Nate Robinson's murder, as Cain and Tracy are thrust into the spotlight, according to Digital Spy. Recommended reading: John takes his turn down at the police station, answering questions about the day that Nate disappeared, but it's a fine line between revealing that he did it and putting Cain in the frame. It was revealed earlier this week that the actress who plays Tracy, Amy Walsh, would be leaving the soap after more than 10 years. Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm, with an early release on ITVX at 7am.

This 'Thrilling' New BBC Drama Is Your Next Binge-Watch

The new BBC drama What It Feels Like For A Girl is already generating a lot of conversation. Based on the memoir of the same name by journalist, presenter and transgender activist Paris Lees, the coming-of-age comedy-drama centres around teenage Byron as they navigate the many highs and lows of growing up queer in the East Midlands in the 2000s, and how their life changes as they find their own tribe. Over the course of it eight episodes, What It Feels Like For A Girl tackles heavy subjects like gender identity, sex, class and the importance of community and chosen family for queer people, and is already being hailed as 'totally fearless', 'raw' and 'essential viewing'. Here's a selection of why the BBC series is being called a must-watch … The Guardian (4/5) 'It's certainly a wild ride – I'll struggle to look at a toilet brush the same way ever again – but if you stay on board until the end, a memorably complex psychological portrait will be your reward.' The Independent (4/5) 'At a time when the trans community are being forced to suffer almost daily indignities at the hands of Britain's political and media establishment, the presence of What It Feels Like for a Girl feels urgent [...] in a world where it is easy to feel pessimistic about the course of progress, What It Feels Like for a Girl presents an engaging – and rational – case for optimism.' The Standard (4/5) 'For A Girl doesn't gloss over the messy bits. There's a lot of sex, drugs, and 2000s dance music. Scenes with predatory older men, from dirty doggers to corrupt coppers, are harrowing for the most part. But it also thrills with its portrayal of teenage transgression.' 'Make no mistake, What It Feels Like for a Girl is raw and frequently uncomfortable viewing [...] Yet the unease is what makes What It Feels Like for a Girl such a visceral, essential watch. We need more TV like it.' The Times (4/5) 'This series is very bingeable. It is funny, heartbreaking, occasionally disturbing, sharply written and well acted, most notably by Ellis Howard, who plays Byron with wit and, at times, devastating poignancy [...] Thisis a raw drama that could easily have been depressing (and at times it is), but ends up ultimately being a buoyant story of resilience.' 'While the drama doesn't fall into the trap of educating or being overtly political, it's an overdue examination of how being lower class intersects with sexuality and gender identity… while also being an utter riot.' Digital Spy 'We need more shows like this, singular outlooks that give a voice and artistic vision to communities long underserved on screen. That's especially true at a time when trans rights are being threatened even more than they were 25 years ago, in the time this show is set. 'To see not just trans pain, but trans joy, trans love and, most crucially, trans acceptance on a platform as widely viewed as the BBC will be nothing short of life-saving right now. This is 2025′s answer to It's a Sin, yet it's even more vital than that show in many ways. Another queer masterpiece that holds the potential for real-world change.' '[ What It Feels Like For A Girl ] pulls no punches […] the series is a raw, hedonistic, brutal – but often hilarious – tale of Byron, a 15-year-old boy who is trying to find his identity and is desperate to escape the small-mindedness of his home town.' Brenda Blethyn unrecognisable as she takes on 'iconic role' in Channel 4 reboot

Brenda Blethyn unrecognisable as she takes on 'iconic role' in Channel 4 reboot Brenda Blethyn has been spotted looking completely different to her Vera character as she takes on a new role in the reboot of A Woman of Substance. Brenda Blethyn is set to surprise fans of Vera as she embarks on a fresh endeavour, taking on a new character that's a stark contrast to her familiar ITV role. At 79-years-old, Brenda is stepping into the shoes of Emma Harte in the revamped version of the 1984 Emmy-nominated drama A Woman of Substance, which will broadcast on Channel 4. ‌ The series, adapted from the 1979 novel by the same title, charts the extraordinary journey of Emma Harte, a Yorkshire maid who becomes a powerful businesswoman and establishes a thriving department store empire. ‌ Captured on set in photos released by Digital Spy, the esteemed actress appears almost unrecognisable sporting white hair arranged in a vintage 70s style. Clad in a cream coat, Brenda was photographed wearing a silk scarf and rain bonnet, complete with circular sunglasses and a red work bag emblazoned with the initials EH, reports Devon Live. The original series featured Deborah Kerr and Jenny Seagrove in these roles back in 1984. The show's synopsis describes the plot as follows: "Emma Harte, an impoverished ambitious maid in Yorkshire, England goes on a dizzying journey to become the world's richest woman, gazing down from a sprawling luxury New York penthouse. A rags-to-riches tale of women through the 20th century, Emma defies the expectations of her society, fearlessly challenging the roles she's given, smashing glass ceilings, and never, ever deviating from her masterplan: Get to the top. Whatever it takes." The actress has ditched the raincoat and detective hat (Image: ITV ) ‌ Brenda expressed her delight at stepping into the role, saying: "I'm overjoyed to be taking on this iconic role in the footsteps of the great Deborah Kerr. As a fan of [author] Barbara Taylor Bradford, it is an unmissable opportunity to play the fierce Emma Harte." Jessica shared her enthusiasm as well, remarking: "To be a part of A Woman of Substance and to step into the shoes of Emma is an absolute dream for me." She continued, highlighting the team's talent: "The team and cast we have behind this are truly inspiring and I'm so excited to bring the stunning scripts and this great piece of literature to the screen." ‌ A Woman of Substance is currently in production (Image: Mike Marsland/WireImage ) The Channel 4 series will also feature actors Emmett J Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Sophie Bould, Leanne Best, and Will Mellor. Rebecca Holdsworth, Channel 4's commissioning editor for drama, praised the project, stating: "Attracting an ensemble cast of this quality is testament to Katherine and Roanne's exceptional scripts." Article continues below She further added: "We are so excited to be bringing this fresh, sexy and bold adaptation of an iconic book to Channel 4." The broadcast date for A Woman of Substance on Channel 4 has yet to be announced.
