Amazon launches Echo Show 5 third generation with new features at Rs 10,999
Amazon, on Tuesday, July 29, launched the third-generation Echo Show 5 smart display with Alexa in India. The new Echo Show 5 third gen comes with an upgraded speaker, an in-built camera, and smart home controls. The 5.5-inch touch screen of the Amazon Echo Show 5 features rounded corners and an infinity cover glass. It is integrated with the AZ2 Neural Edge processor and a 1.7-inch rear-facing speaker sound system. When it comes to audio experience, the speaker provides double bass and clearer vocals compared to the previous generation, ensuring a better experience when listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks. It is priced at Rs 10,999 and can be purchased from Amazon, Flipkart, and select offline stores of Reliance Digital and Croma. With the Echo Show 5's built-in camera, users can use the 'Drop In' feature to view their homes. By connecting suitable security cameras and video doorbells, the device can show video feeds on the screen. The camera also enables video calls through the Alexa app or screen-equipped Echo devices. Users can send messages to make quick announcements or connect other Echo devices in their homes. It can also be used to set reminders, display the calendar, and more. Alexa or the touchscreen of the device can also be used to control compatible smart home appliances, including TVs, geysers, fans, air conditioners, smart lights, and security cameras. Besides, multiple levels of privacy protections are included in the Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen), including an integrated camera shutter, a microphone on/off button, and the option to see and remove voice recordings through the Alexa app

Amazon unveils fastest Kindle Paperwhite with 12-week battery life for Rs 16,999
On Wednesday, Amazon launched a new version of its Kindle Paperwhite in India, calling it the fastest and best-performing Paperwhite yet. The device was first introduced in select international markets in October 2024. Priced at Rs 16,999, the e-reader is now available on It comes with several upgrades, including a larger display, a thinner design, and improved performance. However, as of now, there is no information on whether other models like the new entry-level Kindle, Kindle Scribe, and Kindle Colorsoft will be launched in India. The new Kindle Paperwhite features a 7-inch display—the largest ever on a Paperwhite model—and a 300 ppi glare-free screen that reads like paper even in bright sunlight. It also includes adjustable warm light and dark mode for improved readability in various lighting conditions. With a redesigned chassis, the latest model is the thinnest Kindle Paperwhite to date and is lightweight enough for comfortable one-handed reading. It also promises up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge and recharges via a USB-C port. The device offers 16GB of storage and is waterproof, making it suitable for reading in multiple environments. It also comes with features such as X-Ray for looking up character and location details, Word Wise for simplified definitions, and a built-in dictionary with translation support. Customers can access a library of over 1.5 crore eBooks on Amazon's Kindle Store, including titles in Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Marathi. Kindle Unlimited subscribers can read over 20 lakh titles, while Prime members get free access to a rotating selection of eBooks. Covers for the new Kindle Paperwhite are available separately for Rs 1,999 in black, marine green, and tulip pink.
