Satellite images, hundreds of coffins in Pakistan are testament to success of Op Sindoor: BJP's Dinesh Sharma

Dinesh Sharma stated Operation Sindoor's success is evident through satellite images and coffins in Pakistan. India initiated the operation responding to the Pahalgam terror attack. Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure, eliminating over 100 terrorists. Pakistan retaliated, prompting India to damage radar, communication centers, and airfields. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh confirmed the destruction of Pakistani fighter aircraft during the operation. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma on Saturday said the satellite images and the hundreds of coffins in Pakistan are a testament to the success of Operation Sindoor "The satellite images that have come in, along with the hundreds of coffins in Pakistan, are a testament to the success of Operation Sindoor. The frustration of one developed nation is also showing that, despite their efforts, they could not save Pakistan. Their 11 camps were destroyed and many of their airstrips, from where terrorist activities were executed, also came under the radar of our attacks,' the Rajya Sabha MP launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across 11 airbases, including Nur Khan airbase in today, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said that the Indian Armed Forces had destroyed at least five Pakistfighter aircraft and one large aircraft during Operation Sindoor."We have at least five fighters with confirmed kills and one large aircraft, which could be either an ELINT aircraft or an AEW&Caircraft, which was taken on at a distance of about 300 kilometres. This is actually the largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill that we can talk about," Air Chief Marshal AP Singh also credited the "political will" of the Central government for the success of Operation Sindoor that allowed the Indian Armed Forces (IAF) to conduct the operations without any constraints."A key reason for success was the presence of political will. There was very clear political will and very clear direction given to us. No restrictions were put on us... If there were any constraints, they were self-made. The forces decided what the rules of engagement would be. We decided how we wanted to control the escalation. "We had full freedom to plan and execute," Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said.

How CBI laid trap, caught PWD official ‘red-handed' taking bribes — recovered Rs 1.6 crore

On July 26, contractor Dinesh Sharma, working in Delhi's Tis Hazari Court, approached the CBI alleging that a senior PWD official had demanded a commission of 3% for clearing his bills. Immediately, the CBI lodged an FIR against Kalu Ram Meena (57), an Executive Engineer in the PWD's Judiciary Civil Division — a unit that handles construction and maintenance work for trial courts — at the Rouse Avenue District Court complex. Around 11.45 pm on July 28, Meena was arrested, caught 'red-handed' accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from Sharma for allegedly signing three completion certificates in connection with a construction project at the trial court. He was produced before Special Judge Sanjay Khanagwal of Rouse Avenue Court. Meena spent two days in CBI custody before being sent to judicial custody until August 13 on Wednesday. In its remand application, the CBI stated that it has recovered Rs 40 lakh from Meena's house in Delhi. Another Rs 1.2 crore was recovered from his Jaipur house, the CBI claimed, alleging that it has voice call recordings between the complainant and the accused. 'After negotiation, the accused executive engineer demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant for clearing his pending bills. The CBI laid a trap on 28.07.2025 and caught the accused… red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant. Searches were conducted at Delhi and Jaipur, which led to the recovery of cash of Rs 1.60 crore as well as property documents, bank accounts having sufficient balance, etc,' the agency had earlier said in a statement.

UP BJP shortlists six names for new state unit chief's post

The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sent a shortlist of six names – two Brahmins, two from the backward community and two from the Dalit community, all men – to the national leadership that is set to pick the next chief of the state unit, a senior party leader said on Friday. Former Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma is among the six names shortlisted. (FILE PHOTO) India's most populous state is set to go to the polls in early 2027 and the choice of the state unit chief is considered among the key decisions in front of the BJP, which will look to reverse its Lok Sabha setback in the state and secure a third consecutive term in Lucknow. The BJP, which has already picked state chiefs in over 25 of 37 organisational units, is also gearing up to name its next national president. The new state chief will replace Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, a Jat leader from western Uttar Pradesh, said the BJP leader. The names suggested include former deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and former Basti MP Harish Dwivedi (both Brahmins), sitting UP minister Dharampal Singh and sitting Union minister of state BL Verma (both OBCs), and former Union minister Ram Shankar Katheria and sitting MLC Vidya Sagar Sonkar (both Dalits). 'On our part, we have suggested to the central leadership suitable names that can be considered for the post of UP BJP chief and the leadership is actively evaluating them. A decision is likely within the next two weeks, possibly earlier,' said the leader. Sharma, a Brahmin leader known for his clean image and academic credentials, enjoys the confidence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the top leadership. Dwivedi, also a Brahmin, brings youth and parliamentary experience, having served as an MP from Basti and a national secretary in the party. Both Dharmpal Singh and BL Verma are from the influential Lodh community. Singh, a senior minister in the UP cabinet, has decades of legislative and ministerial experience. Verma, currently Union minister of state, is seen as a disciplined and low-profile organiser with deep RSS links. He enjoys trust within the organisation. Katheria, a former Union minister and ex-chairman of the National Scheduled Caste Commission, is known for his aggressive articulation of Hindutva and Dalit identity. Sonkar, an MLC, is a low-key but loyal party worker with influence in eastern UP. UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary said, 'We have apprised the high command of our views. Now, it is for the central leadership to declare the name of the new president for the state and this, we hope will happen very soon.'

Children seek help for school issues through helpline 1098

1 2 3 Jaipur: With increasing awareness of Childline 1098, children are also contacting the helpline for school-related issues, including bullying, obtaining transfer certificates, and admission queries. The Jaipur centre of Childline receives between 250 and 270 calls each month, of which 60 on average pertain to educational matters, said officials. "Earlier, most of the calls were related to rescue from child labour or child marriage, but with increasing awareness about the helpline number, children are also calling about problems they face in school or financial distress due to which their education is getting impacted. We also get calls where children speak about violence, if any, faced by them or if they witness it somewhere," said Dinesh Sharma, centre coordinator for Childline in Jaipur. Sharma was speaking at a state-level stakeholder consultation meeting Tuesday, 'Commitment to a Safe Childhood and Inclusive Education for Every Child', organised by CHETNA. The stakeholder consultation focused on issues such as child protection, inclusive and quality education, and the elimination of child labour. In the meeting, experts raised concern about the exclusion of many children from education due to lack of documentation, and the urgent need to effectively link them with govt schemes.
