Bhool Chuk Maaf box office collection day 4: Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi's film is no Stree 2, sees massive drop on first Monday as total passes Rs 30 cr
Last year, actor Rajkummar Rao and producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films made history when their horror comedy Stree 2 became the first Hindi film to enter the Rs 600 crore club. However, their new romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf isn't even a patch on that figure, especially given its massive fall on the first Monday. That being said, Bhool Chuk Maaf is an original comedy, while Stree 2 was running on the goodwill of the franchise. Bhool Chuk Maaf earned Rs 4.75 crore on Monday, a drastic dip from its Sunday earnings of Rs 11.5 crore. That was a minor improvement on the Saturday collection of Rs 9.5 crore, a further spike from its opening day earnings of Rs 7 crore on Friday. The film hasn't passed the crucial Monday test, scoring much less than its opening day, and less than even Rs 5 crore. As per Sacnilk, the current domestic box office collection of Bhool Chuk Maaf stands at Rs 32.75 crore. That's less than what Stree 2 earned on its opening day. The Amar Kaushik directorial opened at Rs 51 crore, and slipped down to single digits only on its 14th day. On Monday, Bhool Chuk Maaf registered maximum occupancy in the night shows (18.51%), followed by the evening shows (16.61%), the afternoon shows (15.54%), and the morning shows (5.99%). Regionally, it scored maximum occupancy in Chennai (55.67%), Jaipur (18.50%), National Capital Region (16.75%), Lucknow (15.75%), and Mumbai (15%). As compared to other releases this year, Bhool Chuk Maaf has scored higher than Emraan Hashmi-starrer action thriller Ground Zero (Rs 7.74 crore), Phule (Rs 6.58 crore), Fateh (Rs 18.87 crore), Emergency (Rs 20.48 crore), Loveyapa (Rs 7.69 crore), Badass Ravi Kumar (Rs 13.78 crore), Superboys of Malegaon (Rs 5.32 crore), and Mere Husband Ki Biwi (Rs 12.25 crore). Helmed by debutant director Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, and Zakir Hussain among others. It revolves around Rao's character, who gets stuck in a time loop right before his wedding day, much to the frustration of him and his fiance (Gabbi). Earlier this month, Maddock Films announced the movie would skip its theatrical release on May 9 and get a digital release on Prime Video India on May 16 owing to the recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation following Operation Sindoor. Multiplex chain PVRINOX had moved the court challenging its producers' decision to release it on Prime Video directly. (Maddock), and Amazon MGM Studios reached an understanding, and the movie released in theatres on May 23. However, as a singular exception, it will release on Prime Video India in just two weeks on June 6. Otherwise, the minimum window between the theatrical release and the streaming release is eight weeks.

Ayushmann Khurrana on Diwali Holiday Release for Horror-Comedy ‘Thama' (EXCLUSIVE)
Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana's horror-comedy 'Thama' has locked in a Diwali 2025 release, marking the first time the critically acclaimed actor will headline a major festive window release in his decade-plus career. The Maddock Films production, produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, represents a significant career escalation for Khurrana, who has built his reputation as one of Hindi-language cinema's most bankable stars through unconventional script choices and socially conscious comedies. The studio, known for releasing films like 'Stree 2,' 'Munjya,' and 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' in a blockbuster 2024, unveiled a slate of eight interconnected films set to release over the next four years, earlier this year. The lineup begins with 'Thama,' followed by 'Shakti Shalini' on Dec. 31. In 2026, audiences can expect 'Bhediya 2' on Aug. 14 and 'Chamunda' on Dec. 4. The following year includes 'Stree 3' on Aug. 13 and 'Mahamunjya' on Dec. 24. The universe will culminate in 2028 with 'Pehla Mahayudh' on Aug. 11 and 'Doossra Mahayudh' on Diwali, Oct. 18.'It feels amazing to have a big Diwali release with 'Thama.' It is the biggest release of my career and I'm really eager to spread joy, happiness and laughter with the entire country with 'Thama,'' Khurrana said. 'The fact that my film could be one of the reasons for people to have a great festive period feels really surreal.' The Diwali slot has traditionally been reserved for Bollywood's biggest stars and tentpole releases, making Khurrana's booking a testament to his box office evolution from indie darling to commercial heavyweight. 'Thama' is currently the only Bollywood film releasing during the Diwali holiday frame, which falls on Oct. 20 this year. 'For me, Diwali is about togetherness, it is about family and it is about having the best community experience by spending time with your friends,' the 'Vicky Donor' star said. 'I'm a big movie buff and every year, I have a ritual to go to the theatres with my family and watch a film on Diwali. We have so much fun together and it makes me so happy to see scores of people thronging to the theatres to watch these big releases.' 'Thama' brings together an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Aditya Sarpotdar directs from a screenplay by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, with Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik producing. 'I'm giving my everything for 'Thama' and I can see my producers Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, my director Aditya Sarpotdar and the entire team of 'Thama' put in every drop of their energy to make this film a truly incredible big screen experience that will be memorable for everyone,' Khurrana said. Maddock Films gained prominence in the horror-comedy space in 2018 with 'Stree,' which popularized the genre in Bollywood. The film's blend of humor, supernatural elements and folklore struck a chord with audiences, paving the way for further exploration of the genre. This new cinematic universe is a natural evolution for the studio, bringing together characters and storylines into an interconnected narrative. The company's epic historical saga 'Chhaava,' starring Vicky Kaushal, is the biggest Indian box office success of 2025 so far. Varun Dhawan And Dinesh Vijan In Talks For A Mytho-Horror Film Ahead Of Bhediya 2? Details Inside
New Delhi: Varun Dhawan and Dinesh Vijan have always been a superhit combo. They have earlier worked together in Bhediya and Badlapur. Currently Bhediya 2 is also in the works. Varun was also seen in special appearances in two other films from Maddock's horror-comedy verse - it was Munjya and Stree 2. Now according to a Pinkvilla report, Varun and Dinesh Vijan have been constantly in touch for the last few months, to discuss a possible collaboration other than Bhediya 2. Neither is it about being a part of an existing horror-comedy universe nor is it a sequel. A close source shared, "Varun Dhawan and Dinesh Vijan are definitely teaming up on Bhediya 2, but there is a delay in the timelines of shoot of this Amar Kaushik directorial. Before Bhediya 2, the duo are in talks to team up for a one-of-its kind mytho-horror film, which will also have shades of comedy in the narrative." Furthermore the source added, "Varun and Dino are also in talks for 2 other scripts and the aforementioned mytho-horror film is the front runner to be their next collaboration. The film won't be a part of the existing horror comedy universe, nor is it a sequel to any of the earlier films produced by Maddock. It will be a standalone feature film, and the things are in the early stages of discussion at the moment. There will be more clarity on the collaboration by July." On the work front, Varun is currently busy with the shoot of David Dhawan's Hai Jaawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, where he will be seen alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. The film is slated to hit the screens on April 10, 2026. Varun is also shooting for Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The actor also has Anees Bazmee's No Entry 2 in his lineup with Arjun Kapoor. The official confirmation about the female leads are yet to be revealed.
