Poirier would eventually go on and move up to lightweight, while 'Blessed' conquered and ruled the featherweight division. ‌ After racking up impressive wins over the likes of Jose Aldo, Brian Ortega, Anthony Pettis and Charles Oliveira, the 33-year-old decided to move up and compete for the interim lightweight title against none other than his old friend, Poirier. In an epic back-and-forth encounter, the 'Diamond' went on to pick up his second win over Holloway. Now, six years after their last meeting, they get to run it back for a third and final time. And so, here is everything you need to know about tonight's fights... ‌ What UK time will UFC 318: Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier start? Of course, it sucks I have to be spoiler, but I've got to do my job," he told TNT Sports. "After this one he rides off into the sunset no matter what. After this I'm jumping back on that horse and I'm grinding so I've got to keep chugging along. Right now, you feel bad, but it's just a sport. I go out there, I do my thing and get my hand raised after 25 minutes and I can feel bad after the fight." Dustin Poirier: "I feel like it's gonna be a lot like the last one," he said when asked by The Sun how he foresees his third fight with Holloway playing out. "Back and forth on the feet, but just at a higher level and a higher IQ. It's going to be a battle, you know. It's gonna be a battle like the second one, I'm sure."

'Shark Week:' How to watch, what to expect

Paul De Gelder stars in 'How to Survive a Shark Attack,' premiering Tuesday. Photo courtesy of Discovery NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- Shark Week -- the annual summertime celebration of the toothy sea creatures -- kicks off Sunday on Discovery and Discovery+. The programming block contains nearly two dozen new documentaries. Highlights include: Sunday, July 20 Dancing with Sharks -- 8 p.m. EDT/PDT Hosted by Tom Bergeron and Kinga Philipps, this competition show challenges five divers to create movement routines with hammerheads, tigers and nurse sharks. "It's some of the world's best shark handlers, essentially dancing with sharks. This is going to be such a cool show because I think people don't really know to expect, so they're going to have to watch," Philipps told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. "Shark Week is a phenomenon. It's been going on for 37 years and it's this wonderful hodgepodge of entertainment and information." Air Jaws: The Hunt for Colossus -- 9PM EDT/PDT A crew looks for Colossus, a great white shark that went missing 10 years ago from South Africa's waters. Great White Assassins -- 10 p.m. EDT/PDT Alison Towner teams up with Dickie Chivell to decode how killer whales take down great whites in New Zealand. Monday, July 21 Great White Sex Battle -- 8 p.m. EDT/PDT Male and female great white sharks compete in a series of challenges to determine which sex is the superior predator. Jaws vs Mega Croc -- 9 p.m. EDT/PDT Tristan Guttridge, Rosie Moore and Dr. Sora Kim construct a CGI fight to the death between the great white shark and Nile crocodile. In the Eye of the Storm: Shark Storm -- 10 p.m. EDT/PDT A rare outbreak of shark attacks along America's gulf coast were captured on video in the summer of 2024. Tuesday, July 22 How to Survive a Shark Attack -- 9 p.m. EDT/PDT Shark attack survivor Paul de Gelder provokes sharks to charge him in various scenarios in an effort to teach viewers life-saving tactics. "My mom is going to kill me," laughed de Gelder, who lost his right hand and leg in a 2009 shark attack. "A lot of people are going to be sitting on the edges of their seats with a lot of anxiety," he added. "We try and teach people what to do if they get bitten or someone they're with gets bitten, what are the emergency procedures you need to take and, obviously, being Shark Week, I'm going to get attacked by the shark to make it as real as possible, so that's pretty wild." De Gelder said he hopes Shark Week viewers are inspired to explore the oceans themselves and that they develop respect for the creatures who inhabit them. "I grew up watching it and now I get to walk in the footsteps of my heroes and I don't think many people really get to do that in life and so I'm so blessed." Black Mako of the Abyss -- 10 p.m. EDT/PDT Shark Tagger Keith Poe, and experts Paul De Gelder and Kendyl Berna want to learn more about an aggressive, 13-feet long creature that could be a mako, a mutant or a mako/great white hybrid. "We came out to investigate why this shark looked so different than any other shark that any of us have seen out there and we came away with a few different theories," Berna said. "We don't fully have the entire answer yet, but it's still a really fun episode that investigates it and moves the needle forward on even just the existence of a shark that looks like this," she added. "There is so much left to be studied in the ocean. There is so much opportunity to learn there and sharks are all so different from each other. Some lay eggs. Some are live bearing. They've been around for 400 million years." Wednesday, July 23 Josh Gates solves strange and disturbing shark mysteries. Josh Gates, Phil Torres and Heather Amaro track a 20-foot-long predator in the waters of Malpelo Island, 300 miles off Colombia's coast. Forrest Galante injects himself with shark venom underwater to test the potency of the poisonous Port Jackson Shark and Ghost Shark. Thursday, July 24 Tom "Blowfish" Hird and Michelle Jewell separate fact from fiction in the 1975 movie, Jaws. Kinga Philipps hosts a clip show with hilarious and terrifying shark encounters captured on camera. "We're actually breaking down what happened in a situation -- the shark behavior, the human behavior, what went wrong, what maybe should have gone differently," Philipps said. Tristan Guttridge and his team use CGI to create the ultimate apex predator from a variety of shark species. Friday, July 25 Ryan Johnson, Gibbs Kuguru and Andy Casagrande want to know why two people were recently killed by sharks in the relatively safe waters off the coast of South Africa. Forrest Galante and his team explore why Florida -- specifically New Smyrna Beach -- has earned the title of "The Shark Attack Capital of the World." Paul de Gelder and Dr. Craig O'Connell try to determine which are meaner -- Australian or American bull sharks. Saturday, July 26 Kinga Phillips investigates why a rogue Tiger Shark attacked and killed a person in St. Martin. Giant Trevally battle sharks for domain of a hidden underwater peak off Mozambique's coast.

'I'm a TV writer and found a way to get Netflix and Sky TV for 50p per day'

Stranger Things season five is slowly but surely edging closer and TV writer Jake Hackney has found a way to secure a Netflix and Sky TV subscription for 50p per day ahead of its launch. It's been a big week for Netflix as the streamer finally dropped the first trailer for Stranger Things season five. On Wednesday, exactly nine years and one day after the sci-fi series first aired, Netflix gave fans their first-look at its final chapter. The footage shows Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the gang returning for 'one last adventure', each united by a single goal: to find and kill Vecna. Season five is set to premiere in three parts, with volume one (episodes one to four) on November 27, followed by volume two (episodes five to seven) on Boxing Day, and the finale on New Year's Day. It feels like an age since season four, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt their interest waning in the interim. However, after seeing the new trailer this week I'm happy to say Netflix has well and truly pulled me back in. It's fair to say the hype around the new season is building, and it's sure to keep going throughout the rest of the year. With that, many fans are likely scrambling for different ways to find a cheap Netflix subscription. Earlier this year, the streamer raised its subscription fees yet again, with its entry-level Standard with Ads tier now costing £5.99 per month. However, as a TV and tech writer, it's my job to find ways to watch all the latest series while keeping costs down, and I know how to get Netflix and Sky TV for 50p per day. The deal comes directly from Sky, which includes a free Netflix subscription with TV packages like the Essential TV bundle. For £15 per month, this provides free Netflix access, more than 100 channels including Sky Atlantic and a Discovery+ subscription. When breaking it down, this works out at 50p per day over a 30-day period. The bundle comes on a 24-month term, meaning those signing up can secure a Netflix subscription for two years. It typically comes with Netflix Standard with Adverts, which usually costs £5.99 when joining direct, meaning members essentially pay £9.01 for 100 TV channels and Discovery+. There is the option to upgrade to Netflix Standard or Premium for those who prefer ad-free viewing, priced at an extra £6 or £11 respectively. Sky also lets those with an existing subscription keep the same account, so they don't pay twice. Sky isn't the only provider to tempt customers with free Netflix access, as Virgin Media also includes a free subscription with its own TV packages. However, although they include much more, they also come with a higher price tag. The cheapest package that comes with Netflix is the £64.99 Biggest Combo bundle; usually priced at £78.99, this also comes with more than 200 TV channels, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and 516Mbps fibre broadband. However, one downside to both Sky and Virgin's plans is that they both increase their prices every April in an inflation-linked rise. This means the price paid is likely to go up twice in the next 24 months. Sky is yet to confirm how much its prices will go up in April 2026, but this year it introduced a 6.2% rise, so we may see something similar next year. Virgin has already set out its planned changes, with the £64.99 plan rising to £68.49 from April 2026. Despite this, both Sky and Virgin customers can enjoy every season of Stranger Things, as well as Squid Game, Bridgerton and much, much more.

UFC 318: Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier time, card and how to watch

In the main event of UFC 318 this weekend, Dustin Poirier fights for the final time and aims to take the 'Baddest Motherf*****' title from his old rival Max Holloway. Poirier, a fan favourite and lightweight legend, will bow out in his home state of Louisiana, duelling with Holloway for the third time. The pair first met in 2012, in Holloway's first UFC fight, with the Hawaiian suffering a submission defeat by Poirier. They then clashed again in 2019, when Holloway was the featherweight champion, as they vied for the interim lightweight belt. On that occasion, Poirier outpointed Holloway in a thrilling contest, though he later failed to unify the titles when he took on regular champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now, the American, 36, faces Holloway once again, challenging the 33-year-old for the BMF belt. Will the 'Diamond' shine brightly one last time, or will 'Blessed' finally overcome Poirier? BBC Bargain Hunt guests left in tears after beloved item sells for more than '100 times its value'

BBC Bargain Hunt star Irita Marriott was left consoling the overwhelmed guest on her Discovery+ Show Bargain Hunt star Irita Marriott left a guest visibly emotional after their item sold for more than "100 times its value". The BBC antiques guru was hosting her Discovery+ series, The Derbyshire Auction House, when she discovered a heartfelt story with guest Helen and her son Ben. While scouring their home for hidden gems, Helen presented a set of family snaps which contained original signed shots from acclaimed photographers that dated back to 1975. They included works from Graham Smith and Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen, whose works are now displayed in the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. ‌ In a heartbreaking twist, it was unveiled that the photos were being auctioned to help fund the care of Helen's husband, Alan. Alan was suffering from dementia at the time and required full time care. However, he sadly passed away before the episode aired with the money being used towards his funeral, the Mirror reports. ‌ The beloved snaps were once hanging in the hallway of their home, thanks to Alan's former role in promoting cinema and photography. The photographs were sold individually, with one estimated at £80 to £120. ‌ Their value quickly sparked a fierce bidding war, with the picture ultimately fetching an eye watering £12,000. After discovering the huge sum which the photo had sold for, Helen was moved to tears. Following the auction, Irita reflected on the difficult situation, noting: "It can't be easy for them. These items are things that they've lived with all their lives. ‌ "Now that Alan's gone into care, it's probably going to be really sad to see them go." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
