This Sci-Fi Favorite's Emmy Snubs Have The Internet In Revolt

Fans of 'Andor' are fuming after the galaxy's most radical sci-fi series was snubbed in several key Emmy categories. While Disney+'s 'Star Wars' prequel saga nabbed 14 total nominations when contenders were announced on Tuesday morning, Forest Whitaker was the only cast member to land a nod in any acting category. Online, TV buffs were floored that Diego Luna's leading rebel Cassian Andor, Fiona Shaw's fiercely principled Maarva Andor, Stellan Skarsgård's morally murky spymaster Luthen Rael and Denise Gough's coldly ambitious Imperial officer Dedra Meero were overlooked. Others thought the snub was especially galling given 'Andor's' eerie resonance amid the second Donald Trump administration. Andor season 2 once again had some of the best performances in television history yet the cast got a total of ONE Emmy nomination (congrats Forest Whitaker!) — Lalo 🃏 Andor sweep (@clonehumor) July 15, 2025 please don't talk to me I'm furious about the emmys ignoring ANDOR's acting ensemble — ✍🏼 roxana | ✊🏼 zivar | ⚒️ hadadi (@roxana_hadadi) July 15, 2025 A slow-burning tale about the creep of authoritarianism, the show explores how the 'Star Wars' universe's revolutionary Rebel Alliance is born from the wreckage of state surveillance, militarism and the erosion of civil liberties under the fascist-coded Galactic Empire. Though many viewers interpret 'Andor' as an allegory for the totalitarianism impulses leeching their way into contemporary politics, creator Tony Gilroy has emphasized the story's deeper historical underpinnings. 'You could drop this show at any point in the last 6,000 years, and it would make sense to some people about what's happening to them,' he told The Hollywood Reporter in May. Chris Hemsworth Drops Tease About Avengers: Doomsday, And Seemingly Confirms One Part Of Thor's Story Won't Be Included

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a behemoth force in the entertainment world, one constantly putting out new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Without a doubt the most anticipated upcoming Marvel movies are the next two Avengers movies, which will be directed by The Russo Brothers. Chris Hemsworth recently spoke about filming the former, and may have revealed that one beloved location won't be included in the blockbuster. What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is super limited, but it's going to feature a number of superhero teams. The Doomsday cast live stream confirmed Hemsworth is back as Thor, and the hulking actor recently spoke to Scottish Daily Express, and revealed that production seemingly isn't going to return to the country to film sequences for New Asgard. As he put it: Filming The Avengers in Scotland was a really cool experience. It doesn't look like we are coming back for Doomsday. But I'd love to not only visit there again, but to film and do more work in the country. The people are amazing. There you have it. Sounds like the Asgardians' home on Earth isn't going to factor into the mysterious action of Doomsday. This was a location that was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, since Asgard was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok. It came back up in Love and Thunder, but it sounds like we won't see this particular setting in the next big Avengers movie. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planThe MCU's streaming home is on Disney+. Plans start at $9.99 a month for its new ad-supported plan. Go ad-free and pay $15.99 a month or save 16% and pre-pay $159.99 for a Deal Later in that same interview, the 41 year-old actor spoke more about what it was like filming in Scotland, and his desire to return for future projects. As he put it: There is something majestic about the Highlands, I'd love to do another movie there one day. It's just a place made for an iconic battle scene. The backdrop is just stunning. Well now I've got FOMO. Because while Scotland apparently isn't being used to film Avengers: Doomsday, the country seems like a perfect place to set big action sequences. If it doesn't happen in his next appearances as Thor, perhaps Hemsworth can bring other franchises like Extraction (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription) to the Highlands. Fingers crossed. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have seen how the Asgardians lost their planet... and then faced even more losses at the hands of Thanos in Infinity War. They'e been through a lot, although they got a new King with Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie. Although since she's not listed in the Doomsday cast list, maybe that storyline won't come into play for the blockbuster. All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th, 2026. But first up is The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25th as part of the 2025 movie release list.

Danny Dyer teases season two of saucy hit series Rivals and reveals how he's reinvented himself as the 'cheaper version of Gary Oldman' since leaving EastEnders

has teased season two of smash hit series Rivals and lifted the lid on his career reinvention since his EastEnders exit in 2022. The actor, 47, who plays Freddie Jones in the saucy Disney+ show, reassured fans that they have no need to worry about the new instalment failing to live up to its predecessor. He told Radio Times: 'I can't reveal much, but what I will say is that we've got no issues with the old second album syndrome. I've been blessed with a lovely character. He's not the lead and he doesn't need to be the lead, same as Katherine [Parkinson who plays love interest, Lizzie Vereker]'. Danny, who won a BAFTA earlier this year for Sky comedy Mr Bigstuff, also revealed there would be a 'bit more' of his character's love life in the new episodes. He also spoke about his other roles including the sole character in a new movie, which he said had first been offered to Oscar winner Sir Gary Oldman, 67. He told the publication: 'Fifteen pages of dialogue a day. Crazy. We shot it in Dublin. I just sat in the hotel room with the script. Went crazy by the end. I believe they went to Gary Oldman first. They told me he wanted £2 million just to read it'. 'But I was next in line, which I'm chuffed with. If you go Gary Oldman and I'm next, it's because I'm obviously cheaper. I'm happy to be a cheaper version of Gary Oldman.' MailOnline have contacted Gary Oldman's representatives for comment. Alongside the interview Danny looked dapper in a suit as he posed for a fun shoot in a pub with Mr Bigstuff co-star and creator Ryan Sampson. Danny starred as Mick Carter in the BBC soap for nine years, earning a whopping quarter of a million pounds a year at the height of his stint, before his explosive exit on Christmas Day 2022. Earlier this year he reflected on his decision to quit the BBC soap after he won his BAFTA and beat off stiff competition from Bilal Hasna, Dylan Thomas-Smith, Nabhaan Rizwan, Oliver Savell and Phil Dunning. Speaking in the press room after his win, Danny reflected on his varied career as he mused: You're only as good as the job in front of you really and it's getting the opportunities. 'It's also difficult to just get a job and so to get to this stage when you're getting awards and stuff, it is a journey.' Referencing his time on the BBC soap, he continued: 'I've been around a long time and EastEnders changed my career for so many different reasons but unless you roll the dice and you decide to see what else is out there, you never know... He teased: 'I can't reveal much, but what I will say is that we've got no issues with the old second album syndrome. 'It's working out really well for me at the moment. I'm having a lovely time but it can always go tits up. I know how this game works, I've had my ups and my downs but I'm just really grateful for it.' Danny hasn't had much positive to say about the soap, as he slammed the workload, declared he had been 'off his nut' on prescription drugs and had ended up in rehab twice because of the show. Calling out co-stars Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie, Danny brazenly branded them 'c***s' as he claimed they had blanked both him and his onscreen wife Kellie Bright. Recalling his arrival on the soap in 2013, the Rivals star said it was not a warm welcome, describing the set as 'a very cliquey place to work'. He claimed his taking over the Queen Vic caused Jessie and Shane, who played previous pub landlords Kat Slater and Alfie Moon, to 'have the hump'. According to The Sun, Danny boldly said: 'There were a lot of people blanking us when we first turned up and me and Kellie thought "You know what, f**k these c***s, let's get together and show them something different" - we had to prove ourselves over six months.' Danny also hit out at the soap opera's storylines, particularly Mick's 'mental' romance with Janine Butcher, insisting 'a lot of it is s**t'. As well as being unimpressed with his own character's fate, he raged over the decision to kill off Lola Pearce last year from a brain tumour, which he said 'wasted' actress Danielle Harold's talents. The Sun also claimed he slammed the BBC for not giving the cast sufficient duty of care, claiming they wouldn't allow actors time off to go to a family member's funeral - allegations which the BBC has denied. Danny - who was paid around £250,000 a year on the soap - said that while the salary was good, the stars had 'no life' and claimed the dark storylines 'messed lots of people's heads up', insisting they were 'lunatics'. 'You earn good money, but you ain't got time to go to a cashpoint, you have no life,' he said. 'There's not much duty of care, that's the truth, on EastEnders there is no messing about and you've got to do it, it's the hardest part of our job.' 'It messes a lot of people's heads up, most people are off their nut, you meet them on the street, they're lunatics I'm telling you - institutionalised,' he added. He also claimed that bosses put antiseptic into the beer barrels in the Queen Vic in order to prevent him from drinking from them. In response to Danny's comments, a spokesperson for EastEnders stated: 'We would never discuss an individual's private matters, however, we do not recognise these claims. 'EastEnders has extremely robust and well-established procedures in place to safeguard the welfare of everyone who works on the show.' Danny also spoke about EastEnders on the BAFTAs red carpet. He told Sky News: 'It's a roll of the dice leaving EastEnders it gives you sustainability but it is a risk and it has paid off for me. 'I don't know what is going on at the minute, I'm just rolling with it at the minute, it is a bit odd. I'm so proud of this Sky show and I'm happy to represent that show and I've got the Rivals lot here, I've just seen them. 'Two very different shows, I've been around a long time and I've done good and some bad stuff. I've had a good run this year, I'm getting nods now and I would love to nip this one but I've got to stay grounded and keep the ego grounded.'

‘Bluey' Has Been Streamed Almost Twice As Much As ‘Squid Game' This Year

The popular children's cartoon 'Bluey' has been streamed for more than 25 billion minutes so far this year and outranks some of streaming's most popular new shows—including 'Squid Game,' 'Reacher' and 'The Night Agent'—on a recently released Nielsen list of the year's most-streamed programs. Bandit, Chilli. Bluey and Bingo. Ludo Studio 'Bluey,' which has more than 150 episodes available to watch on Disney+, has been viewed for 25.06 billion minutes since Dec. 29, according to Nielsen. The show, an animated series produced by Australia-based Ludo Studio about a family of dogs, was the most popular watch of any original or acquired title across a dozen streaming platforms, Nielsen said, and beat out viral new hits like 'Squid Game' to reign supreme. Nielsen's latest data shows that kids programming is a gold mine for streamers, with "Spongebob Squarepants' and its 323-episode library ranking No. 6 among the year's most-streamed shows, with 16.7 billion viewing minutes on Paramount++. Six of the top nine most-streamed movies of the year so far are children's titles, and they accounted for nine of the top 20 overall. 'Moana 2,' "Despicable Me 4,' "Moana" and '"The Wild Robot" were all among the top 5 most-streamed movies. That's how many episodes have been released of "The Night Agent" on Netflix, giving it the smallest episode library of any show on the most-popular list. While some of the most popular shows on streaming have massive episode libraries like "Gunsmoke," "Grey's Anatomy," "NCIS" and "Family Guy," all of which have more than 400 episodes each, several series punched above their weight to score their spots on the top 20 list, including "The White Lotus," (21 episodes), "Squid Game" (22) and "Reacher" (24). "Gunsmoke," the longest running Western on television, which ended its 20-season run in 1975, broke into the top 20 most-streamed shows, beating "Young Sheldon" and "South Park." The series, which stars the iconic character U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon, was added to Paramount Global's Pluto TV and Peacock streaming services earlier this year. The popularity of 'Gunsmoke' is thanks in part to a resurgence in Westerns brought about by 'Yellowstone' and in part because of its feel-good lead with a strong moral compass, Neal Sabin, vice chairman of Weigel Broadcasting, told the Los Angeles Times. 'Matt Dillon represents a lot of what we don't have right now,' Sabin said. Tangent 'Gunsmoke' may be one of the oldest television shows to enjoy a streaming resurgence, but it isn't the first to make a comeback long after its original run ended. 'Friends,' which is this year's 17th most-watched show so far and commonly ranks among the most popular on modern streaming platforms, ended 21 years ago. "The Office' (ended in 2013) and "Parks and Recreation" (ended in 2015) are commonly streamed 'comfort shows,' as are 90s hits "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "The X Files."
