Dogwood Arts Festival to feature K-pop, steel bands, and Appalachian clogging
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The lineup for the annual Dogwood Arts Festival has been released. Artists from across the region are set to perform, including everything from K-pop and steel bands to Appalachian clogging. The free festival returns to World's Fair Park on April 25-27 for its 64th year. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature 31 live performances across two stages, a local maker market, and interactive workshops. Design plans approved for new parking garage, apartments near Covenant Health Park 'From high-energy K-pop routines and Caribbean steelbands to traditional Appalachian clogging and award-winning Americana acts, the entertainment schedule offers something for every music and dance enthusiast,' wrote Dogwood Arts. Pistol Creek Catch of the Day kicks off the festival at noon on Friday on the performance lawn. Soul House and Déja Imani are also set to perform on Friday. Rachel McIntyre Smith kicks off Saturday on the performance lawn at 10 a.m., while School of Rock starts the line-up at 10 a.m. in the amphitheater. Lazarus Lake, and the Knox Kpop Galz will also take the stage on Saturday. Dogwood Trails celebrates 70 years of showcasing Knoxville's natural beauty Finally, Natti Love Joys kicks off Sunday's line-up at 12 p.m. on the performance lawn. The Bobby Band and Noah Gray will also perform. Featured Guests will include Alex Saviuk (Spider-Man, Superman, Hulk, The Flash), John Rose (Barney Google and Snuffy Smith), Robert Pope (Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Peanuts), Greg Cravens (The Buckets & Hubris), Bill Holbrook (Kevin & Kell, Safe Havens), and James 'Doodle' Lyle (The Phantom). In addition, Knoxville's own Charlie Daniel, a cartoonist for The Knoxville News Sentinel, may make a special appearance. Artists to bring Downtown Knoxville to life for annual Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The 17th annual Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk returns on April 5, transforming Downtown Knoxville into an outdoor art gallery. The event will include over 300 artists, food trucks, a beer garden, and free children's activities. More than 30,000 people have attended in past years, and organizers expected this year to be even bigger. 'Spots fill up fast—we have around 150 available, and they were nearly gone within a day of opening applications. This year, we have 200 artists on the waitlist!' The chalk walk will begin at 8 a.m. and run through 7:30 p.m. in Market Square. Children will also be able to create their masterpieces in the First Horizon Fun Zone on Market Street, where free chalk will be provided. Dogwood Trails celebrates 70 years of showcasing Knoxville's natural beauty Artists will compete in 12 categories, including Elementary, Middle School, High School, College, Adult, Family, and the prestigious Sidewalk of Fame. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded by a panel of judges to outstanding pieces. Attendees can also vote for their favorite in the People's Choice Award, presented by WIVK FM-107.7. Dogwood Trails celebrates 70 years of showcasing Knoxville's natural beauty
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Dogwood Arts is preparing for its 70th annual Dogwood Trails starting April 1 with the same sights and trails Knoxville is known for as well as some new murals that showcase the work of local and regional artists. What started in 1955 as a neighborhood beautification project has grown into a yearly springtime tradition. This year, visitors will be able to explore more than 90 miles of trails all over Knoxville, including: North North Hills Halls/Timberline Fountain City South Lakemoor Hills Chapman Highway Island Home East Holston Hills Morningside West Sequoyah Hills Deane Hill Farragut Westmoreland West Hills 2025 Barkley Marathons ends with no finishers The trails are open from April 1-30. Visitors can find descriptions and trail maps on their website. Dogwood Arts is planning a 'ribbon cutting and community celebration' for April 1 at Holston Hills Community Park. They have scheduled other events throughout April into early May. This year, Dogwood Arts is also collaborating with professional muralist Megan Lingerfelt to unveil six new murals in downtown Knoxville. Lingerfelt plans to hold a workshop between March 22 and March 28 during which students will paint six new murals. People can see them on display through May.
