Why Miley Cyrus Won't Launch a Beauty Brand

Miley Cyrus has always used beauty—makeup, hair, and styling—to help her move through different eras in her career. There was the Hannah Montana wig, the Bangerz haircut, the Younger Now denim craze, and the Endless Summer Vacation blonde. Now, she's in her Something Beautiful era, and while the title of her new album might lend itself perfectly to launching a make up line, a Miley Cyrus beauty brand isn't coming anytime soon. 'My stepdad asked me the other day, 'Why are you the only one without a makeup line?' I was like, 'Cause that's not my passion.' He goes, 'That's the right answer,'' Miley said during her appearance on the NYT's Interview Podcast. 'And it made so much sense. It's like, 'I don't have a makeup line because I'm not a makeup artist.'' In other words, don't expect Miley to join the likes of Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Millie Bobby Brown, Ariana Grande, etc. But, don't worry, she's not throwing shade. It's just not her thing! 'Some people operate differently, you know?' she continued, pointing specifically to her godmother, Dolly Parton. 'This woman [sells] cupcakes, Dollywood, amusement parks, all the things,' she said. 'I've never felt like that was really for me. And I've always admired that she can and wants [to]—it's like a deep passion for her. She absolutely adores it.' Who knows if Miley will change her mind in the future. As a pop star, she's worked closely with beauty brands before—remember her MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam campaign?—so I wouldn't be surprised to see her do a collaboration of some kind down the line. Or maybe she'll launch a pet toy line or something else wild and unexpected! That's just Miley being Miley. In the meantime, Miley is content focusing on her music career. 'To me, it's me by a piano writing songs and telling my stories, and then creating a gorgeous visual in support of that. That's what I love to do.'

Miley Cyrus Explained Why She's One Of The 'Only' Pop Stars Without A Makeup Line, And People Are Pointing Out That It's Literally 'Common Sense'

In the past decade or so, celebrity side hustles have become all the rage. We've got actors buying sports teams, supermodels selling alcohol, and plenty of celeb skincare brands. But perhaps the most common trend of all is the popstar to cosmetics mogul pipeline. We have billion-dollar brands like Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty, along with popular lines from Ariana Grande (r.e.m. beauty), Lady Gaga (Haus Labs), and Harry Styles (Pleasing). And while the cosmetics world is certainly very lucrative (just ask Hailey Bieber), it seems not all A-listers have the urge to launch a beauty line. Speaking on the New York Times' Interview podcast on May 31, Miley Cyrus commented on the increase in celebrity makeup brands and explained pretty frankly why it's not something she sees in her future. 'My stepdad asked me the other day, 'Why are you the only one without a makeup line?' I was like, 'Cause that's not my passion.' He goes, 'That's the right answer,'' she recalled. 'And it made so much sense. It's like, 'I don't have a makeup line because I'm not a makeup artist.'' Kennywood officially acquired by Dollywood's parent company

Kennywood and Dollywood are now owned by the same company. Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation finalized its acquisition of Palace Entertainment's 24 U.S. attractions, including Kennywood, Sandcastle and Idlewild & SoakZone. The company now employs 22,000 people and operates 49 properties that attract nearly 20 million guests each year. "Our purpose has carried us through both bright seasons and challenging ones—and it will continue to guide us as we move into this next chapter," Chris Herschend, a board chair and third-generation owner, said in a news release. "We're focused on doing what's right for the business, our hosts, and the communities we're honored to be part of. This process will take time, and we know we will not get everything perfect, but we are committed to listening, communicating and continuously improving." Herschend says this season will be about "listening, learning, and building relationships." Guests can expect the same from Kennywood and other parks as Herschend focuses on its employees first. Herschend says it's the largest family-held themed attractions company. Kennywood was a family business for more than 100 years until Palace Entertainment bought it in 2007. After that deal, the park got rid of rides like the Turnpike and Log Jammer to make way for attractions like the Sky Rocket and Steel Curtain. After the Herschend deal was announced in March, many Pittsburghers expressed hope for the park's future. They said they hope the new owners move the park forward while still keeping some of its historic Pittsburgh charm.
